Abstract

Efforts to improve public health are based on community participation in overcoming the environment because the environment is one of the factors that play a role in the emergence of a disease. In 2015, the Central Java government determined the most located area in Pemalang Regency which was later determined by a Regent's Decree. There are four sub-districts in the Pemalang Regency area which are included in the category that does not have latrines, namely Pemalang, Taman, Petarukan, and Comal sub-districts.The purpose of the study was to analyze the factors that influence community participation in the construction of family latrines in Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency. This study used a cross sectional design. The sampling technique is proportional stratified simple random sampling. The population is 3,882 households in 3 urban village/village, while the sample is 100. The instrument uses a questionnaire sheet. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate with Chi Square and multivariate with logistic regression. The results of the Chi square test show that knowledge factors that influence participation in latrine construction are age (p = 0.02), education (p = 0.01), income (p = 0.00), and (p = 0.00) . The results of the logistic regression showed that the factors that had the most influence on community participation in latrine construction were the level of knowledge.

Abstract

Leptospirosis is one of the Emerging Infectious Diseases caused by pathogenic leptospira bacteria, transmitted directly or indirectly through animal urine containing leptospira bacteria. The spread of leptospirosis in Indonesia is broad in most provinces and the mortality rate is quite high. The city of Semarang is an endemic area of leptospirosis with an increasing incidence of leptospirosis every year, this is related to socio-demographic factors, the presence of rats and environmental factors. This study aims to analyze whether the socio-demographic risk factors (age, gender, education, occupation, family income), the presence of rats (contact with rats, and the presence of rat droppings) and the environment (rivers flow, clean water facilities, floods, puddles) affect the incidence of leptospirosis. This research is an analytic observational study with a case -control approach. The population of this study were all leptospirosis sufferers who were recorded in the Semarang City Health Service report in 2019-2021. The samples used were 80 (40 cases, 40 controls) with purposive sampling technique based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria that have been determined. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. The data analysis in this study was univariate analysis (frequency distribution), bivariate analysis (chi-square test) and multivariate analysis (logistic regression test). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between education variables, the presence of rats and the environment with the incidence of leptospirosis in Semarang City. There was no significant relationship between the variables age, gender, occupation and income with the incidence of leptospirosis in Semarang City. The education variable is the factor with the strongest relationship to the incidence of leptospirosis in Semarang City.

Abstract

The high failure rate to donate blood is one of the main causes of unfulfilled blood needs. One of the causes of blood donation failure is low hemoglobin levels. As for the factors that can affect hemoglobin levels, including age, diet, menstrual patterns, menstrual duration, and so on, the purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with hemoglobin levels in prospective female donors at the blood center, Indonesian Red Cross (IRC), Semarang City. This research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this research is women who had hemoglobin examinations before donating blood at the blood center IRC Semarang City in January–June 2021, totaling 4,661 donors. The sample used is 100, with a sampling technique of simple random. The data analysis techniques used in this study were univariate analysis (frequency distribution), bivariate analysis (chi-square test), and multivariate analysis (multiple logistic regression test). The results showed that there was a significant effect between age, diet, menstrual pattern, duration of menstruation, and smoking history on hemoglobin levels in prospective female donors at the blood center IRC Semarang City with a p-value 0.05. With a p-value greater than 0.05, blood type, occupation, type of donor, duration of donor, education level, and income have no effect on hemoglobin levels in prospective female donors at the IRC Semarang City blood center.

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate is a reflective indicator of mother health statuses. The impact of the high maternal mortality rate also describes the poor degree of community health. This situation potentially degrades the economic growth and social levels at domestic, community, and national levels.  This research analyzed the influential determinant of maternal mortality rate in Grobogan Regency. This quantitative research used an applied controlled-case study. The sample consisted of 36 cases with 36 and 72 controlled cases within a 1:2 ratio. The researcher used the total sampling technique to take the sample of the case group. On the other hand, the researchers simple random sampling technique to take the controlled-group sample. The independent variables were high-risk pregnancy, health care service access, and antenatal care with complications as the intervening variables; and maternal mortality as the dependent variable. The researchers used bivariate analysis with Chi-Square and multivariate analysis with the path analysis. The results showed the influences between high-risk pregnancy, antenatal care, and complication on maternal mortality rate. The researchers also found high-risk pregnancy influenced maternal mortality via complications.

Abstract

COVID-19 is a Global Pandemic. One of the efforts to overcome COVID-19 is vaccination. The lowest group of vaccine recipients in Tegal Regency was pregnant women (0.02%). COVID-19 was the biggest cause of maternal mortality in 2021 in Tegal Regency (59.1%). The lowest vaccination coverage wat at Talang Community Health Center (8.3%). The strategy for bringing vaccination sites closer has been carried out through the SERPUNG program, supported by sufficient availability of vaccine doses. However, these efforts have not increased coverage, so there is a possibility that behavioral determinants are the cause of the low vaccination coverage. This study aims to determine the determinants of COVID-19 vaccination behavior in pregnant women at Talang Health Center area. This type of research is an analytic survey using a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 100 pregnant women. The sampling technique is Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Bivariate analysis (Somers'd and Lambda test) showed that the variables that had no relationship were knowledge (p=0,176), education level (p=0,532), occupation (p=0,794), parity (p=0,826), ANC visit (p=0,393), information access (p=0,525), supported from community leaders (p=0,574), supported from health workers (p=0.192), while the related variable is family support (p= 0.003). Multivariate analysis was performed on the variables resulting from the bivariate analysis with p0.25. The results show that family support is related to COVID-19 vaccination behavior, with an exp value (2.654) = 14.2, it means that respondents have a tendency to behave well by 14.2 times compared to respondents who do not have family support.
