Abstract

A grim portrait of life is often shown by migrant workers who work in Saudi Arabia through novel Kedai 1001 Mimpi by Valiant Budi, researcher tries to peel the grim portrait of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. This research, using qualitative descriptive method and literature sociology approach, seeks to explore the portrait of humanity accepted by Indonesian labor migrants working in Saudi Arabia. The results of this study show a portrait of humanity experienced by female and male migrant workers. The portrait of life that happens to women in the novel Kedai 1001 Mimpi by Valian Budi is sexual harassment, physical violence, accusation, lack of protection. The portrait of humanity portrayed in male migrant workers is harassment, dissension, defamation, and unclear employment contracts. This research has significance in the humanitarian and social fields that there are many grim portraits of living witnesses who have worked as migrant workers in Saudi Arabia so that the government needs to find the right solution so that the forms of injustice received by migrant workers in Saudi Arabia do not recur.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the expression of anxiety in Elegi's poetry through heuristic and hermenic reading as well as the unsustainability of expressions in poetry, matrices, variants, and hypograms in Joko Pinurbo's five poems. This descriptive qualitative research was analyzed through Riffaterre's semiotic approach. Research data in the form of stanzas and lines in the poem Elegi by Joko Pinurbo. The source of this research is a collection of poetry books Book of Sleep Exercise X Song Moon Poetry by Jokpin Pinurbo. The results showed that (1) through reading heuristics and hermeneutics showed that there were themes taken by anxiety; (2) The unsustainability of the expression put forward by Riffaterre includes the replacement of meaning, deviation of meaning, and creation of meaning; (3) The matrix in Jokpin's "Elegi" poem is about the sad feelings of a homeless person who must be forced to be driven out of his place of residence; and (4) Hipogram poem "Elegi" is as a form of concern for the social environment one of which is experienced by some economically disadvantaged people.

Abstract

Negeri van Oranje by Wahyuningtyas and Diary Buruh Migran by Arsya Kirana is a literature work that shows the main character’s struggle in a foreign country. Based on both novel, this research is aim for (1) describing the nationalism of the main character on novel titled Negeri Van Oranje by Wahyuningtyas and novel titled Diary Buruh Migran by Arsya Kirana, and also (2) describing the impact of the character of nationalism on other figures inside novel titled Negeri Van Oranje by Wahyuningtyas and novel titled Diary Buruh Migran by Arsya Kirana. This research using descriptive approach with qualitative type. Analysis result shows there is an existence five sub values of national characterism, pervade social care, hard work, high curiosity, care for living, and loves the motherland. One of them is care for living not founded on novel titled Diary Buruh Migran by Arsya Kirana, that’s create a primacy for novel titled Negeri van Oranje by Wahyuningtyas. Overall, character of nationalism has an impact on other characters in the story, which involve cognitive components, affective components, and conative components.

Abstract

Job application letters are included in the class of official letters so that there are certain aspects that must be considered in their administration. One of these aspects is the language aspect. This study aims to describe the forms of language, such as: spelling, diction, and sentences used in job application letters at the Special Job Exchange for the Presidential Vocational School of Cirebon City and Indomaret, Kejuden Village, Cirebon Regency. This research is a qualitative research. Techniques and data instruments used in this study were documentation techniques and data cards. In addition, the observation technique with the advanced note-taking technique was used to study the data in this study. The data analysis technique used the miles model and Huberman. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that there are 223 language errors used in job application letters, with details: 161 spelling errors, 19 diction errors, and 43 errors.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the social values ​​contained in A. Mustofa Bisri's Calligraphy Painting Short Story Collection and describe their application in learning in high school. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source used in this research is the book Collection of Calligraphy Painting short stories by A. Mustofa Bisri which was published in 2009. The data was collected using documentation techniques. Data analysis was performed using an interactive analysis model. The results showed that: (1) there are several forms of social values ​​in the collection of calligraphy paintings by A. Mustofa Bisri, which are divided into three forms, including love, responsibility, and life harmony. (2) learning Calligraphy Painting short story collection has basic competence to identify the values ​​of life contained in the collection of short stories that are read. The methods used were group discussions, questions and answers, and assignments. Learning activities include preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities.

Abstract

The issuance of Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia (PP) Number 57 of 2014 concerning Development, Development and Protection of Language and Literature, as well as Improvement of the Function of Indonesian Language has made the dynamics of the Indonesian codification even more current. Before the regulation was published, the Indonesian language codification conducted by the government was limited to publishing the Big Indonesian Dictionary IV (KBBI) IV, General Guidelines for the Formation of Terms (PUPI), and General Guidelines for Improved Indonesian Spelling (PUEYD). The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection methods and techniques used include the listening method, with the basic tapping techniques and the advanced, competent free listening (SBLC) techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis methods and techniques used include the orthographic equivalent method, with the basic technique of determining the deciding element (PUP) and the advanced comparative relationship technique equalizing the subject matter (HBSP). The results showed that the codification of Indonesian language after the issuance of PP Number 57 Year 2014 included updating the KBBI, PUPI Workshops, and publishing a number of bilingual dictionaries (Indonesian-regional languages).

Abstract

This study aims to classify expressive speech acts through writing and images in memes on Instagram towards PILPRES 2019, as well as analyzing the form of expressive speech acts in the writing and images of memes on Instagram towards PILPRES 2019. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of writing in memes on Instagram. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using literature study techniques, note taking techniques, and documentation techniques. The results showed expressive speech found in memes on Instagram towards PILPRES (Presidential Election) in 2019, the results of the research found the forms of Expressive Speech Actions (Giving Love), Expressive Speech Actions (Insulting), Expressive Speech Actions (Praising), Expressive Speech Actions (Blaming) and Expressive Actions (Mocking). In addition, language has the following functions, expressive functions, directive functions, aesthetic functions, physical functions, informational functions. This function is used to express language into memes.

Abstract

Interferensi merupakan salah satu fenomena kontak bahasa. Interferensi dapat terjadi dalam segala tataran kehidupan, termasuk di dalam dialog oleh tokoh utama dalam sebuah film. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan interferensi bahasa Indonesia ke dalam bahasa Jawa dan sebaliknya pada dialog tokoh utama dalam film “Yowis Ben 1” dan implementasinya sebagai alternatif materi ajar bahasa Indonesia di SMA. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Interference is one of the phenomena of language contact. Interference can occur at all levels of life, including in dialogue by the main character in a film. The aims of this research are to describe the interference of Bahasa into Javanese and vice versa, based on the dialogue of the main character in "Yowis Ben 1" film and its implementation to become the teaching material alternative in SMA (Senior High School).This research belongs to qualitative. The technique of collection data is documentation. Test the data validity is using triangulation sources. Data analysis is selecting the data which have been gathered through the records, notes and transcription then describing the results of the research on language interference in “Yowis Ben 1” movie. The analysis result shows the use of Indonesian language in a movie called “Yowis Ben 1” interference on the phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics level.The factors causing the interference in the use of Indonesian by the main character in the film "Yowis Ben 1" are bilingualism, low loyalty in the recipient's language user, and the habit of using the mother tongue.

Abstract

This study is a type of qualitative research. This study aims to describe the use of the Edmodo platform in learning bahasa Indonesia. The data analysis method used in this research is content analysis. This analysis method is used to describe the object, namely what features can be used for learning bahasa Indonesia. The edmodo platform was developed in 2008 by Nic Borg dan Jeff O’hara. Based on the results of the analysis, there are eight features in edmodo that can be used for the learning process.

Abstract

This semantic-based research study investigates the figurative language of Madura proverbs. The objectives of this study were to describe the types of figurative language contained in Madura proverbs. Describe the meaning and function of figurative language in Madura proverbs. And also describe the relationship of culture inside Madura proverbs. Research result indicates that in the style of figurative language metaphor based on Haley’s hierarchy in nine metaphors, the metaphors in Madura’s proverbs are energy, terrestrial, cosmos, object, animate, living, and human. Simile in this research includes cosmos, plants, animals, object, and terrestrial. And personifications in this research are animate personification and non-human personification.
