Abstract

Truancy  is an act of stay away from school without permission. . This study was conducted in SMPN 1 Nan Sabaris to ward students’ truant behavior. The purpose of this study describes the concept of the school, and the behavior which were shown, the causal factor truant behavior and the effort of guidance and counseling teacher in helping students who have truant behavior. This research was conducted under qualitative in term of case studies research. The purposive and snowball sampling techniques were used to take the sample. Thus the data were obtained from student, parents, friends of the sample student and subject teachers and guidance and counseling teacher. Interview, observation and document analysis were used to collect the data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation and conclusion or verification.

Abstract

This research aims to formulate guidance and counseling module to improve interpersonal communication ability of students and to describe the level of applicability used by counselor. The method used was ADDIE model development. The properness test was done by three experts and the practicality test was done by three guidance and counseling teachers or counselors. The instruments used were skala likert, questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The data gathered in this research was analyzed by using descriptive statistic analysis and non-parametric statistic analysis.  Based on these results, in general, it was concluded that the module developed was appropriate and could be used to help the students to improve their interpersonal

Abstract

This research isbackground by low ofstudents’ communication interpersonal. Self confidence and emotional intelligence were two factors assumed to affect communication interpersonal. The aims of this research were  to describethe contribution of the self confidence and emotional intelligencetowards communication interpersonal. This research applied quantitative method with a descriptive correlational. The population was all thestudents of SMA Negeri 8 Padang with the total of 764 students, and the samples were 263 students that were chosen by using proportional stratified random sampling.The instrument of the research was a likert scale. Validity test result of this self confidence’s instrument was 0.503, students’ emotional intelligence was 0.430, and communication interpersonal was 0.675. Reliability test result of self confidence’s instrument was 0.819, emotional intelligence was 0.888, and communication interpersonal was 0.902. The data  were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, simple and multiple regression. The research findings indicated that: (1) averagely, description of the self confidence was at high level, (2) emotional intelligence was at high level, (3)communication interpersonal was categorized at high level, (4) there was 19,6% (R=0.443, on significance 0.000) in self confidence contribution towards  communication interpersonal, (5) there was 33,1% (R=0.575, significance 0.000) in emotional intelligence towards communication interpersonal, (6) there was 33,2% (R=0.576, on significance 0.000) in contribution together with self confidence and emotional intelligence towards communication interpersonal. The implication of this research can be made as a need assessment to make a program of guidance and counseling service in SMA Negeri 8 Padang.

Abstract

Lembaga pendidikan Islam di Minangkabau  pada awal abad 20 yaitu surau, masih tradisional dan sangat sederhana sekali dilaksanakan secara informal dalam rangka dakwah Islam. Pendidikan dimulai dengan mempelajari abjad huruf Arab  dan bacanan kitab suci al-Qur’an. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pengajian kitab-kitab lain, seperti kitab fiqh, Nahu, Sharaf, dan tasauf. Ilmu pengetahuan umum sama sekali belum diajarkan di lembaga pendidikan ini. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, maka kaum mudo Minangkabau melakukan pembaharuan terhadap Pendidikan Islam. Usaha ini tidak terlepas dari konsep manusia sebagai khalifah di muka bumi yang bertugas mengatur dan menjalani kehidupan secara baik. Menjalani kehidupan secara baik tentunya manusia secara umum dan murid di madrasah/ sekolah secara khusus membutuhkan arahan dalam mewujudkan dirinya untuk melaksanakan tugas-tugas sebagai khalifah tersebut.  Pelayanan bimbingan konseling di madrasah/ sekolah memegang peranan dalam membantu siswa agar dapat mengenal dan menerima diri sendiri, mengenal dan menerima lingkungan secara positif dan dinamis, serta mampu mengambil keputusan, mengarahkan dan mewujudkan diri sendiri secara efektif dan produktif sesuai dengan peran yang diinginkanya di masa depan. Usaha pembaharuan pendidikan tentunya akan berhasil lebih baik jika dalam pelaksanaannya mengacu pada konsep pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana bentuk pembaharuan pendidikan yang dilakukan Kaum Mudo Minangkabau serta implikasinya terhadap pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling. Pemilihan permasalah ini sebagai kajian penelitian karena pembaharuan yang dilaksanakan Kaum Mudo Minangkabau ini merupakan awal kebangkitan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia dan nuansa madrasah yang dikembangkan dalam gerakan pembaharuan ini menjadi corak terhadap kemanjuan pendidikan nasional di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah, dengan menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di Minangkabau dilakukan secara bertahap dengan mengacu kepada pembaharuan terhadap lembaga, metode dan materi pendidikan yang dilaksanakan. Usaha pembaharuan belum menunjukan hasil yang memuaskan untuk madrasah sekarang ini meskipun sudah digalakan sejak lama. Konsep pelayanan bimbingan konseling belum tersentuh dalam usaha pembaharuan ini. Tentunya ke depan pelayanan bimbingan konseling lebih diperkuat untuk mencapai madrasah yang lebih baik dan bermutu.

Abstract

Communication within the family is one of the means of parents instill the values to their children. This research background is the low skilled interpersonal communication of children and their parents. This study aimed to describe and examined: (1) interpersonal communication of children and parents in terms of sex, the last education of parent, and area of residence, (2) differences in interpersonal communication of children and parents in terms of sex, the last education of parent, and area of residence. The research methods applied in this research was ex post facto with factorial design 2 x 3 x 2. The population was students in SMAN 1 Maninjau and SMAN 1 Bukittinggi. The number of samples as much as 263 people were selected by cluster random sampling and combined with the technique propotional random sampling technique. The instruments used a Likert scale. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and using analysis of variance. Data analysis results showed that: (1) the general, interpersonal communication of children and parents in terms of sex, the last education of parents, and area of residence were in good category, (2) there are significant differences the variables sex, in the mean scores of female is higher than male students' the, the last education of parent and area of residence there are no differences significant. The implications of the results of this research can be used as input to create a program of guidance and counseling services, especially in the development of family.

Abstract

Career aspiration is an important for students, because needs to be done first when choosing one career is to have career aspiration. The fact in the field signified that the students do not have a career goal in the future. This is an indication that the students career aspiration are in the low category. The aim of this research was to: (1) describe students career aspiration is sighted of sex, majors, and parents educational level, (2) examined differences in students career aspiration of male and female, (3) examined differences in career aspiration of students majoring in science and social studies, (4) examined differences in students career aspiration is sighted of parents educational level, and (5) examined differences in students career aspiration is sighted of interaction of sex, majors, and parents educational level. The research methods applied in this research was ex post facto with factorial design 2 x 3 x 2. The population this research was consisted of 837 students in SMAN 7 Padang. The number of samples as much as 270 students were selected by propotional random sampling technique. The instrument of the research was career aspiration scale with reliability 0.885. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The result of the research indicated that: (1) In general, career aspiration of students  is sighted of sex, majors, and parents educational level were in high category, (2) there is no significant differences between career aspiration of male and female students, (3) there is no significant difference between career aspiration of students majoring in science and social studies, (4) there was a significant difference between career aspiration of students having parents educational level of high, medium, and low, (5) there is no significant differences in students career aspiration is sighted of interaction of sex, majors, and parents educational level.

Abstract

Truancy is an action of missing full day school or skipping certain classes during school hours. It is considered as a non-adaptive behaviour that needs serious attention. Truancy is affected by several factors. Some of the factors are (1) family in which parents give lack of support to their children in learning and, (2) individual involving the students’ perception on learning discipline. This research is intended to describe: (1) the parents’ support, (2) the students’ perception toward learning discipline, (3) truancy behaviour, and to test, (4) the contribution of the parents’ support toward truancy behaviour, (5) the contribution of the students’ perception on learning discipline toward truancy behaviour, and (6) the contribution of the parents’ support and the students’ perception on learning discipline simultaneously toward truancy behaviour. This research applied quantitative method and descriptive correlational design. The population of the research was 533 students in class X and XI of SMAN 8 Padang. Of the population, 229 were taken as the sample. They were chosen by using Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The instrument of the research was a scale of Likert model. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic, simple regression and multiple regression. The research findings show that: (1) on average, the parents’ support is in high category, (2) the students’ perception on learning discipline is in positive category, (3) the truancy behaviour is in average category, (4) the parents’ support contributed 6,2% (R= 0.249 on significance level 0.000) toward truancy behaviour, (5) the students’ perception on learning discipline contributed 10.9% (R= 0.331 on significance level 0.000) toward truancy behaviour, and (6) simultaneously, the parents’ support and the students’ perception on learning discipline contributed 12.7% (R= 0.356 on significance level 0.000) toward truancy behaviour. The implication of the research findings is expected to be used as an analysis on the students’ need in designing Guidance and Counselling program at SMAN 8 Padang.
