Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students internalization character through the implementation of learning model SETS (Science Environment Technology and Society) in class XI IPA 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar academic year 2016/2017. This research is an action research (Classroom Action Research), was held two cycles. Each cycle consists of three stages: planning, execution and observation, and reflection. The subjects were students of class XI IPA 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar academic year 2016/2017. The data research obtained through observation, tests, self-assessment questionnaires and friends, and interviews. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques. Analysis of data using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The research procedures using spiral model Kemmis and Mc Taggart.Aspects of the character values of students researched were honest, disciplined, hard working, creative, independent, curious, caring environment, and responsibility. The results of attitude observation 76.9%, student self-assessment 80.8%, and friend assessment 76.5%. Student achievement scores on internalizing character prasiklus 41,3%, 60,8% the first cycle and the second cycle 78.1%.Based on these research it can be concluded that the implementation of learning models SETS (Science Environment Technology and Society) can improve the character internalizationtowards the eleventh grade students of science 2 program  (XI IPA 2)at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar. Keywords: SETS (Environment Science Technology and Society), internalizationcharacter, character education

Abstract

The purpose of the research was improveability to predictthrough interactive demonstration learning of graders XI which includes 32 students. The research was a classroom action research that refer to Kemmis and Mc Tggart model (2005). The research was performed within two cycles which consists of planning, acting, observation, and reflection stage. Action in the research used interactive demonstration learning. Theresearch data includes assessment result of ability to predict. Ability to predict was assessed by essay test and observation of ability to predict.The validity of data used technique of triangulation method. The research data was analyzed by qualitative descriptive.Known from Pre-Cycle results that students’s ability to predict was 32,18%. Indicator of the success of action was improvement of students’s ability to predictin Cycle II. Results of the research showed that ability to predict improved 66,41%in Cycle II. The improvement of students’s ability to predictwas facilitated by interactive demonstration model.Conclusion of the research was showed that student’s ability to predict and curiosity improved 66,41%through interactive demonstration learning. Abstract

Inquiry based learning (IBL) has become a prominent learning model in science educational reform in all countries. This research is a comparative studies which aims to analyse the practices of inquiry based learning in the science class of one Junior High School (JHS) in Thailand and Indonesia as part of the Sea-Teacher Project conducted by SEAMEO. The subjects were selected by convenience sampling, teachers and students grade 1, 2, and 3 of Chiang Rai Municipality School 6, also teacher and VIII-F students’ of Junior High School 4 Surakarta. Data were collected by document analysis of science curriculum, syllabus, lesson plans, and assessment; classroom observations, field notes, photo, video recordings; and interviews to teachers. The research confirmed that IBL has been adopted in the lower secondary science curriculum in both countries. Teachers have perception that science is about process, value, and product. Science is also about conservation and human existence. Syllabus and lesson plans of both school have followed the steps of IBL. Science learning activities show that both schools are in the same inquiry level, structured inquiry. Assessment of science learning is dominated by conceptual knowledge dimension, with different cognitive dimension processes. Thailand school has a higher level C3 (apply), while Indonesia is dominated by C1 (recall).Keywords:   comparative studies,inquiry based learning, science learning, Thailand, Indonesia

Abstract

This research aims to know the effects of the implementation of Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning method on motivation and learning achievement of kingdom animalia topic in class X of SMA Unggul Negeri 8 Palembang. This research uses Quasi Eksperimental research methodology with Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The test data collection of learning motivation and learning achievement skill is done on X IPA 4 as the experimental class and X IPA 6 as the control class. The sample collection technique is random sampling. The acquired t value analysis of motivation data using SPSS of 9,590 > t tabel of 2,000. The acquired t value analysis of learning achievement data using SPSS of 9,634 > t tabel of 2,000. The average score of motivation of experimental class is 80,39, while the control class is 67,24. The average value of students learning achievement in the experimental group was higher than the control group. This was proven by the average value of the test learning achievement  acquired in the experimental group amounted to 80,44, while the control group was 60,42, so HO is rejected, which means that there were significat implementation of Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning method on motivation and learning achievement of kingdom animalia topic in class X of SMA Unggul Negeri 8 Palembang. Keywords : Team Games Tournament (TGT) Model, Motivation, Learning Achievement, Kingdom Animalia.

Abstract

The teacher acts as a facilitator in improving critical thinking skills through student-centered learning. This descriptive study aims to explain the critical thinking skills of high school students in biology learning. The subjects of the study were students of SMA Negeri 4 Barabai class XI IPA 2 academic year 2016/2017 amounted to 26 people. This research was conducted February - April 2017 in SMA Negeri 4 Barabai. Types of data obtained in this study include a) Data communication ability, b) Data ability to formulate questions. Data were collected through observations and categorized by rubric 4 (excellent), 3 (good), 2 (enough) and 1 (less). The results obtained a) the ability to communicate increased (57%, 73%, 84%), b) the same is also found in the ability to formulate questions (65%, 76%, 88%).Keywords: The ability to think critically, communicate, formulate questions.

Abstract

 Research of the power consumption of migratory locust (Locusta migratoria manilensis Meyen) to the corn crop (Zea mays L.) has been done. This research was aimed to find out the information the power consumption of migratory locust (Locusta migratoria manilensis Meyen) with difference number of individuals and eating of time. This research used experimental method with factorial completely rendomized design which consists of two factor was number of individuals (A), 1 migratory locust (A1), 15 migratory locust (A2), 30 migratory locust (A3) and eating of time, morning (B1), afternoon (B2), and evening (B3), with 9 combination of treatment which repeated three times. The data analyzed by ANAVA and BNT test. The result showed that was significant effect the power consumption of migratory locust on some parameter of observation that is difference of body weight and leaf area eaten. The interaction between the number of individuals and eating of time significantly effect the parameter of leaf area eaten, but no significant effect on the parameter of the difference in body weight. The treatment of individual number of 30 head and the evening (A3B3) had a real effect the power consumption of migratory locust on on all parameters. The information of this study hopefully can be an alternative of contextual learning in Biology lesson on Junior High School grade eight, Semester 2 on Basic Competence 3.7 and Basic Competence 4.7 about interaction of living organisms with their environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan morfologi pada tiap fase perkembangan siklus hidup tumbuhan paku (Pteridophyta) dan waktu yang diperlukan selama proses perberkembangan mulai dari fase pembelahan sampai fase sporofit muda. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskritif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kegiatan pengamatan dan dokumentasi kemudian data tersebut deskripsikan secara komprehensif serta disajikan dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan  bahwa struktur morfologi siklus tumbuhan paku yaitu Davalia denticulata,Microsorum scolopendria dan Nephrolepis biserrata  mengalami perubahan-perubahan pada setiap fase siklus hidupnya. Waktu yang dibutuhkan tumbuhan paku mulai dari fase pembelahan sampai dengan terbentuknya sporofit muda yaitu selama 7-10 minggu. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan materi tambahan pada pelajaran biologi di SMA kelas X semester 1 yang berhubungan dengan kompetensi dasar 3.8 Menerapkan prinsip klasifikasi untuk menggolongkan tumbuhan ke dalam divisio berdasarkan pengamatan morfologi dan metagenesis tumbuhan serta mengaitkan peranannya dalam kelangsungan kehidupan di bumi. Kata-kata kunci: Morfologi, pembelahan, protalium, siklus hidup, sporofit.

Abstract

To achieve the goal of education maximally, the role of teachers is very important and expected teachers have a good way / model of teaching and able to choose the appropriate learning model and in accordance with the concepts of subjects to be delivered. The purpose of this action research is to improve the learning result of biology of respiratory system materials using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in XI MIA3 students of SMA Negeri Megang Sakti. This research uses class action research (action research) as much as 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Target of this research is student of class XI MIA3 SMA Negeri Megang Sakti. The data obtained in the form of formative test results and observation sheet of teaching and learning activities. From the analysis result, it is found that the students' learning outcomes have increased from cycle I to cycle II, that is, the average learning cycle (65,95) and learning completeness (71,8%) increase to mean of learning result (73,85) and learning mastery (87,18%) in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) can improve student learning result of class XI MIA3 State Senior High School Megang Sakti and Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be used as one of alternative of Biology learning.Keywords : Learning Result, Biology, Problem Based Learning (PBL)

Abstract

Research about inventory of soil insects on the land of fired at Tanjung Batu village, Tanjung Batu districts, OI regency and its contribution to biology learning in high school has been done, this study armed to knowing the variety of insects and composition from insects which are founded on the land of fired and the land not fired. This study used Purposive Sampling method. Insects sample collected by directly catched and barless tulgreen on December 2016. Insects was catched and collected from 10 plots which consistant 2 location, on the land of fired and not fired have 5 plots each. Data was analysed descriptively. Based on the result of research study. Insects that founded classify by 6 order and 10 family, such as Coleoptera; Scarabaeniae, Hybosorinae, Buprestidae, Curcolionidae, Clambidae, Diplura; Anajapygidae, Blattaria; Blattidae, Isoptera, Hymenoptera; Formicidae, and Collembola. 398 of the insects from the land of fired and not fired. The result also contributed as references to learning material Biology X class about Biodiversity Basic Competence 3.2, Analyzing data observation about the variant of Biodiversity (gen, variety and Ecosystem) in Indonesia. Abstract

The development of science and technology encourages the development in the aspect of education including learning resources. Learning resources should be developed in accordance with the needs of students and curriculum that apply the curriculum 2013. LKS as a source of learning should contain a summary of material and some student activities in learning, but in reality LKS used today is not qualified (valid, practical, and effective) . The number of plants that grow in the school environment encourages the development of LKS, by identifying plants in particular leaves can be used as a material for the development of LKS, especially sub chapter based Plantae leaf morphology identification into LKS more qualified. This research is aimed to develop LKS Plantae based on leaf morphology to be valid, practical, and effective. This research is a research development with R & D method (Research and Development), and use model development of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). LKS results of development will be measured validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Kevalidan is measured using instruments by experts, practicality is measured based on student activities during LKS use, effectiveness measured by improvements in learning outcomes and student responses. Validation results have been declared valid by experts with 79.17% percentage, the observation result of practicality get percentage of average 70% with practical criteria, student response result gets percentage average 98,5% with criterion very effective, result learn learn got 98% percentage and N-gain analysis result is 0.69 with medium criterion. So LKS is declared worthy as a teaching material for students.Keywords: LKS, Plantae, valid, practical, effective
