Abstract

The present day church tends to show a different existence and quality from what was shown by the example of the early church. The feeling of giving and sharing is no longer a priority, unity seems to disappear and ego begins to become a priority. So, the present day church needs to improve itself and have an awareness of the call as followers of Christ to live in unity of faith. Qualitative research based on descriptive analysis methods is carried out in this study. The research area is GKE Madara congregation. This research aims to show an example of early church life based on the reflection of Acts 2:42-47, where this example is applied in the GKE Madara congregation through work programs and daily life. The results of the study show that from an economic, social, human resource and spiritual perspective GKE Madara's unity can be affected by a model of the early church.

Abstract

Missio Dei is the revelation of God himself as the one who loves the world. In this mission of God, God is both the Sender and the Sent One. Mission is not centered on the Church, but on God. With the sub-hermeneutic qualitative method: Exegesis, this article finds a missio Dei study of the responsibilities of believers based on 2 Corinthians 5:18-20. First, believers must do His work. Second, believers must spread His work. Third, believers must invite the reconciliation of others with Him in order to realize the goal of missio Dei, which is to establish Shalom (peace, no division, no loss and completeness) through the reconciliation that has occurred for believers, so that the faith community or Church as an agency of missio Dei must continue to carry out these three responsibilities to all people to receive reconciliation with God.

Abstract

To Examining LGBTQ issues in Indonesia still requires serious time and attention. The church must be at the forefront of providing solutions for the congregation and the country. Before the situation got even worse. This article offers an equal and respectful approach to facing the problems of LGBTQ people. This is the first step that the church must think about so as to encourage the creation of new formulations that are more contextual but biblical. By using several narrations in the book of John, this research produces ways to deal with the problem of sexual deviation, especially from LGBTQ people. The church is encouraged to follow the pattern of the incarnation of Jesus by seeking, having dialogue and being open to all sinners. No longer closing himself and only highlighting his sinfulness. Especially for teenagers who are vulnerable to conditions in modern times and in the future.

Abstract

The Book of Proverbs is a book of wisdom in the Old Testament which is quite complex in its poetic language. Readers of Proverbs often offend the empty space in the soul and spirituality of Christian readers. Proverbs 3:5-10 forbids fear and obedience to God in His majesty. The reality is that people still respond to obedience to God with anxiety. In human anxiety sometimes, do not even realize they are hurting themselves, thus causing anxiety disorders. Therefore, humans must firmly rely on God in their journey of life. This paper is reviewed with an analysis of context and grammar in the integration of theology and psychology. Therefore, the writer will expose Proverbs 3:5-10 into 3 parts, namely verses 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10. The exposition aims to describe the new meaning of the text that is formed in the re-reading of Proverbs 3:5-10 which is related to one's psychological anxiety.

Abstract

Collections of Book Proverbs provide many thematic teachings such as: wealth, poverty, and parental upbringing to children. Much emphasis is also placed on teaching parents to children in collections of Proverbs, especially Proverbs 23:14. Proverbs 23:14 is widely used as a basis for teaching parents to children, especially in the meaning of the phrase "beat with a rattan." If using a qualitative sub-hermeneutic study, especially wisdom literature, this article finds the use of premises and conclusions gapped on the meaning of the phrase "beat with a rattan" in Proverbs 23:14. This is proven by the existence of a rationale for thinking in stich A in verse 14a from the use of "beating with a rattan" which gives consequences or results from wise upbringing to a child in stich B in verse 14b.

Abstract

This article is conducting research based on the analogy by the Apostle Paul mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:1-13. In the text, Paul makes an analogy of Christian workers in three analogies. This analogy has something to do with the teacher’s professionalism. Therefore the research being done here is divided into two parts, namely the analogy of Christian workers in 2 Timothy 2:1-13 and the second part the implications for the professionalism of Sunday school teachers. The research approach being used includes exegesis research through utilizing Biblical hermeneutic principles and also through utilizing an analysis of implications. The hermeneutic process of the Bible is carried out by analyzing the context and meaning that is found in the text of 2 Timothy 2:1-13. We have used several relevant sources such as books on Bible commentaries and various research reports both in journals and repositories. The implication analysis was carried out after completing the exegesis of 2 Timothy 2:1-13. We have examined the various phenomena that are related to the professionalism of Sunday school teachers and find their correlation to the results of the exegesis already conducted beforehand. The results of the study show that Christian workers by way of analogy in comparison to soldiers, sportsmen, and farmers. The first is the soldier analogy. The soldier analogy explains that the Christian worker is ready to fight on the battlefield to defend his faith in Christ. The second analogy is the sportsman analogy. The sportsman's analogy explains that Christian workers must prepare himself or herself before the competition. In the analogy of sportsmen, Christian workers must be consistent, enterprising, and ready to finish the matches with an enthusiastic spirit. The third analogy is the farmer's analogy. The farmer's analogy explains that Christian workers must be ready to plant the seed of God's Word in everyone's heart. In the farmer's analogy, Christian workers must also be patient and diligent in caring for the seeds of the world that are planted so that these seeds may produce fruit.

The emotional conditions they experience will be much different compared to when they face other normal children. Therefore, as parents who have children with special needs, they must be able to carry out the emotional management process well. Emotion Management is a person's pattern or style in managing the emotions that arise within him. So emotional management is a person's ability to master, accept and control emotions. For this reason, researchers are interested in examining the emotional management of parents who have children with special needs from a Christian faith perspective. Here the researcher uses a descriptive qualitative method, which means the author uses literature/library studies and adds an interview process conducted with two Christian parents who have children with special needs. The aim of this research is to help parents of children with special needs better understand how to manage emotions. which is good, so that parents can manage the emotions that arise from within themselves when interacting with children with special needs.

Abstract

In this article, the authors analyze the choice of the word "grant" in 1 John 5:14-15 as the translation of the word ἀκούει. The authors argue that the word "grant" is a poor translation choice because it has nothing to do with granting prayer. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the authors identify several arguments that require the use of the word "grant" in Terjemahan Baru to be reviewed. Specifically, the authors argue that the use of the word "grant" in 1 John 5:14-15 can mislead readers into understanding God as a God who will definitely grant prayers.
