Abstract

Odometry enables a moving object to be estimated its position. Odometry is the determination of the movement of a vehicle based on sensor data taken periodically. Positioning is needed in decision making in autonomous vehicles. Accurate positioning can result in making the right decisions in autonomous vehicles, resulting in safe operations on the traffic. Odometry on vehicles generally uses wheels that are connected to an encoder. Through this system, errors in determining position are accumulated due to loss of traction between the wheels and the road. An odometric system that does not require contact with the road is required to reduce mechanical losses due to slip. In this study, an odometric system is proposed that measures vehicle displacement based on the vehicle acceleration measured periodically. To measure vehicle acceleration, the odometry system is equipped with an IMU sensor. ARM-based microcontroller is used to acquire acceleration data and perform displacement calculations. Vehicle displacements are estimated using Kalman Filter. This research discusses the performance of using the IMU sensor for the odometry system through experiments. Based on the tests that have been carried out, the resulting accuracy of the proposed odometry system reaches 63.7%.

Abstract

The COVID-19 vaccination has been implemented to cut down the spread of the virus in society, but the status of the vaccine, which has been in the development stage, is one of the factors causing people to hesitate to vaccinate. Therefore, a sentiment analysis was carried out on the issue of COVID-19 vaccination with processes and parameters that could increase the model’s accuracy. In this study, sentiment classification was performed using the Naive Bayes method and a dataset of 5,000 tweets related to the vaccination of COVID-19. The weighting stage was applied using the TF-IDF method in which a comparison was made of the effect of using unigram, bigram and 1-2 gram tokenization on model accuracy. The results of one of the experiments with the Gaussian classifier and the ratio train: test is 7:3, the model accuracy is 67.4% for the unigram parameter, 65.5% for the bigram parameter, and 70% for the 1-2 gram parameter, where the model with the combined token is 1 -2 grams has a higher accuracy when compared to using only 1 type of token. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the combination of unigram and bigram tokenization types can provide added value to the model for classifying data, thereby increasing accuracy in analysis related to public sentiment.

Abstract

Kelurahan Baru Tengah, located in Balikpapan, is a densely populated area. Still, the lack of community participation and awareness in waste management is seen from the accumulation of waste outside the waste shelter (TPS). This condition has an impact on hygiene and public health. Waste accumulation outside the waste shelter can also be caused by inadequate TPS facilities or limited TPS capacity. Therefore, research was carried out to evaluate waste containers in Kelurahan Baru Tengah. This research was conducted through field observations and waste sampling per the procedures listed in the SNI. Waste sampling was conducted eight days at three residential locations based on house conditions and two waste shelter locations to determine waste generation, composition, and characteristics. The results of this study showed that waste generation for permanent housing was 0.13 kg/person/day, waste generation for semi-permanent housing was .0.13 kg/person/day, and for non-permanent housing was 0.21 kg/person/day. The waste composition in Kelurahan Baru Tengah was dominated by organic waste at 50%, consisting of food and vegetable and fruit waste. The characteristic test showed that the waste in Kelurahan Baru Tengah had a moisture content of 90% and a C/N ratio of 17.6%.

Abstract

Balikpapan City, which develops heterogeneously, has an industrial area and settlement around it as the oldest area of the city. A study of the typology and morphology of the heritage zone of Balikpapan was completed to discover the city's spatial characteristics which grew multicultural and formed its built environment. Not only does the form found shows the definite shape of the urban spatial arrangement but also indicates an urban identity that can be developed sustainably. This study was conducted to determine the typology and morphology of the built area during the early development period of Balikpapan City. Through a typological-morphological analysis with a desktop survey, supported by the figure-ground maps and comparison with the theory of spatial types of urban space. The results showed that there are 4 types of typologies, which illustrate different patterns. The morphological characteristics of each typology are related to its function and generally describe the occupants. In addition, the typology indirectly shows the relationship between the form and the initial process of area formation, both planned and unplanned.

Abstract

Extraction and study of the optical properties of natural dyes from several plant parts such as leaves, flowers, tubers, and fruits have been carried out using a simple maceration method and UV-Vis absorption characterization. The samples were divided into several groups in this study, namely the flower group (Tagetes sp., Paeonia sp., Centaure sp., Chrysanthemum sp., Carthamus tinctorius, Gomphrena globosa, Myosotis sylvatica, Lavandula sp., Clitoria ternatea, Matricaria chamomilla, Hibiscus sabdariffa, and Rosa sp.); the leaf group (Mangifera indica, Moringa oleifera, Graptophyllum pictum, Spinacia oleracea, Citrus hystrix, and Terminalia sp.); and the tuber and fruit group (Solanum lycopersicum, Cucurbita moschata, Garcinia mangostana, Curcuma longa, Beta vulgaris, and Caessapina sp.).  The extract of natural dyes was successfully produced using a low-cost and simple extraction approach via dehydration, immersion for 2×24 hours in ethanol, and followed by filtration. The optical properties of the dyes in UV and visible light range were observed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer in the wavelength of 400-700 nm. The absorption behaviour showed dominant peaks at different wavelengths for each group. Potentially, to do a combination of dyes (co-sensitization: using more than a dye with different absorption spectra to achieve a panchromatic response) to widen the wavelength absorption for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) applications.

Abstract

Important properties of structural materials, especially ceramics and concrete, are modulus of elasticity, porosity, and compressive strength. In the case of concrete, the modulus of elasticity of each material varies widely. The porosity created during the manufacturing process cannot be separated from the elastic modulus. Specimen testing methods typically involve compression testing, but only know the mechanical properties, not the porosity. The porosity of concrete materials can be measured using the non-destructive ultrasonic testing method. The modulus of elasticity to compressive strength can be measured froaamiim the resulting porosity value. Besides porosity, concrete properties are also affected by the water/cement ratio or w/c composition. Data from existing research results, which have certain limitations, were used in this research. The modulus of elasticity and compressive strength were calculated from the data of 39 ultrasonic tests of concrete samples with water/cement ratio variations ranging from 0.27 to 0.9 at a frequency of 50 kHz. Porosity ranged from 2.210% to 16.324% in the test results. According to the calculation, the average modulus of elasticity is 16.011 GPa and the average compressive strength is 13.36 MPa. As a result, porosity rises, reducing modulus of elasticity and compressive strength.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of technology and science is multiplying, so it affects the industrial sector in Indonesia, namely the industry that manufactures machine elements, especially in the automotive sector, which commonly uses metal as raw material. The manufacturing sector's production in the automotive industry tends to increase annually. The need for metal as raw material is constantly increasing. The WAAM welding method be utilized as one of the innovations in the industrial world that potentially reduces the use of raw metal materials by replacing them with the results of the WAAM process. In this study, a combination of GMAW and SMAW welding using the WAAM method was carried out by adding material in layers and switching between the two types of welding. The welding process is carried out by varying the current (high, medium, and low). Then, a tensile test was carried out to determine the mechanical properties of the combination results. Based on the tensile test results, it is known that the high current variation gives the best results, the increasing current lead to an enhancement of the mechanical properties. Finally, using high currents will give the best result for application in the engineering and automotive sector.

Abstract

In synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles using the green synthesis method by adding FeCl3.6H2O and pineapple leaf extract. Pineapple leaf extract is used as a natural reducing agent which contains hydroxyl and carbonyl, which acts as a reducing agent for the synthesized FeCl3.6H2O. Then after the precipitate is obtained, calcination will be carried out, where the calcination temperature in the synthesis becomes a factor in forming Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Different calcination temperatures of 400°C, 450°C, and 500°C were given to prepare Fe3O4 nanoparticles, with the XRD test results confirming that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were formed. In the SEM-EDX test, the optimum variation is 400°C because the average particle size is 150.23 nm with irregular particle shapes. Then proceed with the SAA results with a surface area of 60.125 m²/g. Nanomagnetite produced by green synthesis of pineapple leaf extract can be used as a removal dyes.
