Indonesian Journal of Arabic Studies (e-ISSN : 2686-1542 ) is a journal that publishes original papers researching or documenting issues in Arabic Studies. We accept original research, conceptual, and best practice articles related to Arabic Studies. This study aims to identify the characteristics of the great Indonesian literary work Haji Abdul Malik bin Karim Amrullah (Hamka) in his novel ‘Keadilan Ilahi’ (Divine Justice), this work is one of the literary heritage of the old Indonesian poet that is rarely found by readers of Indonesian literary works in libraries throughout the Malay Islands, especially in Indonesia. Specifically, this research attempts to explain the characteristics of Hamka's literature, which is represented in narrative language and in a very subtle and directed language style when raising the theme of his novel. The importance of this research is because of the knowledge of the unique techniques possessed by Hamka in writing this novel, this work is no less flashy and prestige than the work of other novels such as ‘Tengelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck’ (Sinking of the Van der Wijck) and ‘Di bawah Naungan Ka’bah’ (Under the Protection of the Kaaba). This study uses literary analysis methods that examine narrative techniques, dialogue, internal dialogue, retrieval, message delivery, and monologues used by Hamka in his novels. The second is to study Hamka's techniques in the novel by presenting parts of novel texts in Indonesian and providing the proposed Arabic translation.

Morphology (shorof) can not be separated from the study of Arabic language. As the determination of Arabic into an international language, the study of classical Arabic language needs to be developed more broadly and integrated with modern linguistics so that Arabic can be learned easily by all people in this modern era. Like Nasrin Abdullah Syanuf's study ‘Alwani in Albahtsu Ashorfi Fid Dirosah Lugowiyah‘ Arabiyah Hadithah regarding modern Arabic morphology (modern shorof) discovered several new rules, among which there is no term التقاء ساكنين; Long Meaning and Origin of Words; Influence of Intonation (النبر) in Arabic Morphology; Substitution of Hamzah with Harkat Panjang; Location of Hamzah at the end of the word after Alif Zaidah; Prular Form فعائل ; and taqsir.

The process of translating is a very complex activity, the translator is not a writer, but only a messenger or mediator bridges the text writer and reader in different languages. This paper presents Al-Jahiz's critique of the results of the translation, because the advantages of a language structure can only be enjoyed by the language owner, like Arabic poetry when translated poet and its form is neglected and its beauty and wonder are lost. Proses penerjemahan suatu aktifitas yang sangat komplek, penerjemah bukanlah penulis, namun hanya seorang penyampai pesan atau mediator yang menjembatani penulis teks dan pembacanya dalam bahasa yang berbeda. Tulisan ini memaparkan kritik Al-Jahiz terhadap hasil penerjemahan, karena kelebihan suatu susunan bahasa hanya dapat dinikmati pemilik bahasa, seperti halnya syair bahasa Arab ketika diterjemahkan nazam dan bentuknya terabaikan serta keindahan dan ketakjubannya hilang.

This research aims to describe Ibn Khaldun's ideas on the concepts of language that he wrote in his great work 'al-muqaddima'. A review of this ideas using Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutic approach. This paper is descriptive, analytical, interpretative and comparative-synthesis. Interpretation is used to provide an explanation of the thought of Ibn Khaldun based on the understanding of researcher in interpreting the texts of al-muqodimah. The comparative-synthesis aspect is carried out to compare Ibn Khaldun's linguistic ideas with modern linguistic concepts, with the aim of finding a common point of ideas between Ibn Khaldun and modern linguistic theories. Some concepts of Ibn Khaldun language that apparently have similarities with modern language ideas are: lughah, ifādah al-kalām, fi'l lisāni, malakah, al-qoshd, fitrah, etc.

In the midst of the repressive and compelling methods of Islamic da'wah, the first revelation was presented to remind the Prophet's da'wah method in the midst of the Quraysh community. The first revelation was made a material object, because it has a style of language associated with the method of propagation of the Prophet. In addition, the first revelation also opened the model of the Prophet's preaching. Stylistics as a formal object is able to parse language style to find a picture of the situation and context of the problem at that time. The domain of this article is morphological (al-mustawā al-awarfi). The morphological domain was chosen because it could represent the discussion of other domains. Through the descriptive method the research results are obtained that the Prophet's method of persuasion is obtained through the description of the disposal of objects in the word iqra 'as fi muta'addi. In this context the Messenger of Allah did not immediately order the Quraysh to read the scriptures they brought. The first revelation also provides conditions for preachers. One of the requirements needed by a preacher is the nature of the pious. This trait is obtained through a long effort and process. In addition, a preacher also must always repeat knowledge in order to gain firm conviction. In introducing God, Rasulullah used persuasive, latent, and careful methods. The word Rabbun is an antithesis of belief that is packaged in a singular form to awaken the Quraysh people about the nature of the One God.

Social media is a new space for the public to interact in the digital era. This crowded means of interaction raises new problems in social relations that is the number of netizens who use abusive language in comments. As a result, social media becomes a tool to insult people, fight and spread hatred. Therefore, this study has the aim to describe the use of impolite language of netizens in the social media comment column and the factors that influence it. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, note taking techniques, theory triangulation, and analysis techniques based on a moral’s point of view. The subject is netizens, while the object is politeness in language on social media. The results of this study are: a) netizens' language in commenting is categorized as impolite because it is contrary to the maxim of wisdom, generosity, appreciation, simplicity, consensus, and sympathy; b) factors that influence netizens in commenting are moral knowledge, recognized needs, mental readiness to accept new public spaces, cyberspace character, equality and a sense of friendship. Based on this research, it is needed material for digital society in using social media.

Homoseksual dalam al-Qur'an: Analisis Semantik Frase Ghairu Ulil Irbah dalam Surat An-Nur ayat 31 Ali Qorror Al Khasy

There is a phrase in the Qur’an called ‘ghairu ulil irbah’ which represents individuals who tend to have a non-hetero sexual orientation. This phrase is also mentioned in Surah An-Nur verse 31, so the researcher review this phrase because some people misunderstand with it. Therefore, this study aims to explain the meaning of ghairu ulil irbah, the semantic implication of ghairu ulil irbah in sexual orientation point of view and the further definition of ghairu ulil irbah based on the context of Surah An-Nur verse 31.There are three steps in this language research: providing data, data analysis; the data will be analyzed by using identity and contextual method, and presentation of analysis result in descriptive report.The result shows that the underlying meaning of the word irbah from the phrase ghairu ulil irbah is “necessity”. In particular cases, the word irbah has narrowed meaning but do not change the meaning itself. Thus, it can be said that the relational meaning of irbah is sexual needs of someone’s sexual desire, specifically, ghairu ulil irbah stays in the context of ‘sexual’. It was different from people’s interpretations several years ago said that ghairu ulil irbah dealt with people who lose their minds. It is interesting to note that this phrase focuses on the various sexual orientations because this term correlates with expressing a sexual desire to the sexual object.

As a medium of human communication, the role of language is very important for human life. Language helps him express what is in his mind that is applied in the language system, even though it is intrinsically arbitrary "which is like" but in order to establish good communication it must be agreed by the user community. In its journey, the development of language faces the dynamics of meaning possessed by lafadz which is a container of meaning. Does it mean one meaning or allows another meaning to represent the lafadz? Arabic linguistic discourse known as musytarak Study of lafadz musytarak becomes important and - for a interpreter - he becomes a parameter of his competence in understanding the content of the Qur'an and - for ushuliyyin - is a condition that must be fulfilled considering they will perform istinbath al-ahkam-urgen for language learning and the development of Arabic linguistic studies. This short article attempts to explore the basicly of the study of musytarak.
