Abstract

Unbalanced interaction between plant and biotic or abiotic components is one of the sources to accelerate the presence of disease. The purpose of this study was to obtain a number of bacteria from Scleroderma citrinum extraction which was describing bacteria morphology, and the observed response of the potential bacteria S. citrinum as antagonists against the disease of Fusarium sp. The results obtained 7 species bacteria from S. citrinum ectomycorrhiza which had the ability to inhibition of different Fusarium sp., diseases. In addition, the 7 types of bacteria S. citrinum had different morphology. Bacterial morphology can be described based on their shapes, edges, colors, and surfaces. The result of the antagonistic test of bacterial isolate Scl 7 was suspected and had the potential to inhibit Fusarium sp., pathogen, in which it can be seen from the highest percentage from the percentage of inhibition of 41.11%. From the study, it has been observed that no visible exploitation by bacteria S. citrinum as the antagonist against Fusarium sp. Therefore, bacteria S. citrinum was suspected to contain antibiosis and competition (nutrient competitor) characteristics.

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal indicator plant species in the secondary forest by applying a descriptive approach and field observation as well as refer to releve method. Tral vegetation data of vascular plant at seedlings, saplings, poles, and tree stages that analyzed using MVA.4 (TWINSPAN) software. The analyzed result indicated 12 groups of associations and 1 group of solitary association in which the species were categorized as dominant. The most often appear species in 12 association group based on their growing shapes were Actinodaphne nitida, Celtis latifolia, Hemappasandra sp., Teijmaniodendron sp., Lea acuelata, Spatiostemon jevensis, Koordersiodendron pinnatum, Sisipus sp., Sterculia macrophylla, Litsea timoriana, Macaranga sp., Aglaia sp., Rhus taitensis, Alstonia scholaris, Archidendron parviflorum, Callophylum inophylum and Ficus sp. While the most dominant species in the solitary association were Chisocheton ceremicus, Cryptocarya sp., Canarium hirsutum, Euodia elleryana, Litsea ladermani, and Litsea timoriana. These species arranged and functioned as the dominant tree structure in the secondary forest along the north Manokwari area of Manokwari.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to understand the types of wood waste and its percentage emanating from sawmill industry. The study situated in sawmill industry of PT. Berau Karya Indah, district of Teluk Bintuni. Data were performed in tabulation and exhibited in tables and images. The results indicated that wood waste obtained from wood processing was about 49.73% that consisted of wood sawdust around 20.69%, slash waste was about 29.03%. In detail, presentation of each detailed unit machine was elaborated such as breakdown saw produced about 4.20 %, ponny produced wood sawdust approximately 11.50 %, resaw indicated sawdust roughly 27 %, while from crosscut, the process produced sawdust approximately 7.02%. Another reuse wood waste was noticed for packing from the slash waste, but the overall wood waste has not been used proportionally due to lack of community engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the content of phytochemicals and bioactivity properties of antioxidant, antibacterial, and toxicity of the methanol extract of Phylanthus reticulatus var. Glaber leaf. The testing method used is the phytochemical testing, testing antioxidant, antibacterial testing dan toxicity testing. The test results show that phytochemical extracts of Phylanthus reticulatus var. Glaber leaves contain alkaloids, flavonoids, and triterpenoids. An antioxidant test reveals that the concentration of 25, 50, and 100 ppm of the extract at prohibits free radical DPPH respectively around 79, 81 dan 89%. The antibacterial testing extracts of Phylanthus reticulatus var. Glaber leaves show that it does not have the antibacterial property. The toxicity test shows that this extract does not have toxicity activity.

Abstract

Orchids can grow in almost all habitats like the ground (terrestrial) and trees/wood (epiphytic). This study aimed at identifying types of epiphytic and terrestrial orchids and their morphological characters. The data collection was performed through observation, survey, documentation, and literature review which were then analyzed through a descriptive quantitative approach. Types of orchids growing in the forest in Kantumilena Village were epiphytic and terrestrial orchids consisting of 10 clans and 20 types. Epiphyte orchids there had 16 types namely Calanthe triplicate (Willemet) Ames, Spathoglottis plicata (Blume), Spathoglottis plicata var alba Blume and Spathoglotis pulchra Schltr. While terrestrial orchids growing in the site consisted of 16 types including Agrostophyllum sp1, Agrostophyllum sp2, Cadetia wariana, Bulbophyllum sp1, Bulbophyllum sp2, Coelogyne Sp1, Coelogyne beccarii (Rchb.f), Dendrobium sp1, Dendrobium sp2, Dendrobium sp3, Dendrobium sp4, Dendrobium spectabile (Blume), Dendrobium lineale Rolfe and Dendrobium controides (T.E.Hunt). The habitats of orchids found in the research site were tree (as host) and ground.
