Abstract

College competition, which is dominated by the state college, is very tight when it comes to improving the quality of educational products for the sake of student recruitment. Meanwhile, not many private college students promote and recommend their colleges to others. This study aims to analyze the effect of educational products on student loyalty, either directly or indirectly through the student satisfaction variable. This type of research is a survey with a quantitative approach. The research population was all students of the Makassar LP3I Polytechnic, totaling 1,246 students. The research sample consisted of 93 students who were determined through a proportional random sampling technique using the Slovin formula. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, path analysis, and inferential statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that educational products had a positive and significant effect both directly on student loyalty and indirectly through student satisfaction. This research has implications for the need for study program products that meet the standards of community needs and government demands. Efforts to meet these standards will encourage tertiary colleges to provide excellent service for student satisfaction so that they remain loyal.

Abstract

The number of unemployed college graduates is increasing because they generally expect to be employees and are not interested in entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study was to analyze (1) the formation of students' entrepreneurial attitudes through the independent entrepreneurial program and (2) the opportunities and challenges faced by students in the program. The research method used is qualitative, with a case study approach. The object of the research is the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar as the only organizer of the independent entrepreneurial program in eastern Indonesia, which was selected and beat the leading universities. The informants in this study were purposively selected committee members and students participating in the independent entrepreneurial program. The results showed the formation of students' entrepreneurial attitudes through workshops, business partner onboarding, entrepreneurial experience, and the expo. This program provides opportunities for students to acquire entrepreneurial knowledge, create their own businesses, and build networks with entrepreneurs. The challenge faced by students is convincing business partners of their product ideas and deadlines for preparing products for the expo.

Abstract

This study examines the pedagogic competence of Islamic education teachers, the principal’s strategy, constraints and solutions. The aim is to find problems, solutions, and strategies implemented by principals of public elementary schools to improve teachers’ pedagogic competence. This research method is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. This research's informants are school principals and Islamic education teachers. The results of the study are: first, the teacher masters the curriculum, learning theory and principles, is able to organize learning, is communicative, empathetic, polite, evaluates, and follows up; second, increasing teacher competence through workshops, supervision, mentoring, further study, and participating in training; third, the obstacle is the lack of teacher training, facilities and infrastructure, and teacher commitment. The solutions are to activate MGMP meetings, continue studies, workshops, monitoring, and school meetings. The research implication is that school principals must carry out their main duties properly, and teachers, as partners, carry out educational tasks in schools.

Abstract

In the era of regional autonomy, being a principal is no longer a career position but a political one. Managerial competence does not seem to be the main requirement to occupy this position. This study aims to analyze the implications of the madrasa principal’s managerial competence on the conduciveness of the teacher’s work climate. The informants for this phenomenological study consisted of the principal and teachers of the Lamakera State Islamic Junior High School, East Flores, Indonesia. The results showed that the madrasa principal had a good leadership vision, but because the management function in the madrasa program was not optimal, the madrasa principal's managerial competence was low. The teacher's work climate is not conducive because the principal's communication is not effective, madrasah teachers are divided into several groups, there is a lack of ratio of teachers to number of students, administrative work is mostly done by honorary and voluntary teachers, and the allocation of educational operational funds determined by the government is not in accordance with the needs of the madrasa. This research has implications for the need to appoint principals not only based on a training certificate for prospective principals but also on a credible fit and proper test taking into account achievement, experience, and good career paths.

Abstract

The era of disruption innovation forces higher education institutions to innovate and have good technological literacy skills. This study aims to examine educational innovation policies in higher education institutions and their implications for the technological literacy capabilities of their academic community. This literature research uses journals and books as data sources. Data collection used documentation techniques and was then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study found that ICT-based educational innovation policies in higher education institutions resulted in several programs, such as (1) ICT-based selection processes, (2) management of electronic scientific journals, (3) online libraries, (4) higher education academic systems, and (5) use of the internet in learning. These policies have implications for increasing the digital literacy capabilities of the academic community, which regards ICT as an integral part of their daily activities and influences their behavior and culture of life. The implication of this research is that the government must provide a complete and easily accessible ICT-based educational infrastructure. It should not be difficult for educational institutions and the public to finance their digital access.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that it is not uncommon for divisions between minority and majority groups to occur due to religious differences. The purpose of this research is to reveal the reality, challenges, and solutions in the implementation of Islamic education in the Muslim minority environment. This research uses case studies that intend to understand the problem in depth so that cases can be examined using complete data or information. As a result of the research, it was found that the implementation of Islamic education in Lembang Sereale, North Toraja Regency, takes place harmoniously because all community members understand and apply the values of tolerance. The challenges faced are the absence of worship facilities, access to residents' houses, which are far apart, making it difficult for religious extension workers to carry out their duties, the absence of Islamic Religious Education subject teachers, and the lack of guidance and motivation from parents due to limited knowledge and busyness. A solution step is support from the government of Lembang Sereale in response to the need to support the implementation of Islamic education. In addition, it takes the active role of religious instructors to provide religious knowledge.

Abstract

The lack of awareness of elementary school students' literacy results in low student learning motivation from childhood. This study aims to analyze: (1) the implementation of the literacy program in increasing student motivation; and (2) the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing the literacy program. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The object of this research is the students of Butung II Public Elementary School, Makassar City, Indonesia. The results of the study show that the literacy program is implemented in three ways: independent quizzes, literacy classes, and Friday prayers. These various literacy programs have implications for increasing student learning motivation. This is proven by the fact that students prefer to read textbooks, start writing stories, and dare to appear to speak in front of their friends. Factors supporting this program are teaching campus students, teacher cooperation, the active role of students, and school appreciation. The inhibiting factors are the lack of support from students' parents and inadequate educational facilities. This research has implications for the need for teachers' ability to choose and sort out the right literacy program (according to students' needs and interests) to increase student motivation.

Abstract

The concept of Islamic education began to be oriented towards Western theory, and the study of the Quran as a source of Islamic education began to diminish. This research examines (1) the meaning of the term fitrah in the Quran using the maudui (thematic) interpretation approach and (2) its implications for the concept of Islamic education. The data sources consist of commentary books and several relevant books and journals. The results of the research show that fitrah in the Quran is the default factory setting for humans. Fitrah is a divine chip implanted by God in humans so that they are ready to believe in monotheism, purify themselves, and worship God. Humans who carry out their fitrah have three characteristics: accepting and practicing Islam, being sincere, and having a strong faith. Actualization of the concept of human fitrah in Islamic education can be carried out by (1) making fitrah a basic human potential that needs to be developed, (2) making education the main path in developing nature, (3) creating a conducive educational environment (helping the development of fitrah), and (4) cultivating a work ethic in which there is harmony and balance between the depth of religious appreciation and activities that lead to increased welfare.
