Abstract

Evaluation in the collection development aims to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the collection so that the collection provided in accordance with user needs. This study aims to reveal the evaluation activities conducted at UPT Dian Nuswantoro University Library Semarang. The research method used, that is descriptive-qualitative, with data collection method with literature study, interview and observation. The results showthat evaluation process involve librarians, specialist subjects, lecturers and faculty staff. Collection evaluation is done by librarian to make list of book collection to be evaluated, then given to lecturer for ACC and chosen to be evaluated and weeded. Recommendations for this library are time management and optimization of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the evaluation process in the development of collections.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain e-resources as a provider of information in the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. In this paper using qualitative research methods descriptive case study approach in the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia with data collection methods through literature review. The result of the discussion is to know the role of e-resources as a provider of quality information and guidelines for accessing e-resources owned PNRI provided for the wider community so that the public and users of National Library of the Republic of Indonesia can obtain the informationneeded cheap and cheap.Keywords : E-resources, Information, National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, PNRI

Abstract

The paper gives a view to librarians to find out the problem of policy in the processof developing collections in high-rise library. This paper focuses on finding solutionsto policy problems in developing collections in high-education libraries, to determinethe success in developing library materials in the high-rise library. At the writingof this paper the method is more specific by using a literature review. The steps thatmust be carried out are as follows: 1. Urgency of collection development policies, 2.Carrying out activities that have been deemed by the library, 3. Involving users in theprovision of voluntary collections, 4. Planning the selection of library materials tobe provided in the library. the process of procuring a collection of library materialsthat is relevant to be provided in the library, 6. Always evaluating library materials tosupport success in the development of library collections. Constraints and solutionsfaced in developing collections, with the emergence of this paper provide new insights/ new ideas in providing the best solutions for the stages in developing collections inthe high-rise library.

Abstract

The establishment of the college library aims to support the achievement of the vision of the mission of higher education in implementing the Tri Dharma College, namely education, research, and community service. The role of the library in this regard include satisfying the information needs of academicians, providing library materials, provide study rooms, providing lending services and providing information services. Library is the heart of the college. Library as a source of information must be managed properly and professionally. To realize the excellent service and superior, then the college library services should beroreintasi on satisfaction and customer focus. For strengthening the role of the librarian, then the librarian skills and knowledge on the basics of the service must be improved through education, training, workshops, workshops and seminars, in order to achieve service excellence and superior library.There is also the strategy of librarians in strengthening its role in the realizationof library services college superior and primed to consider several things, amongothers: (1) improving the competence of librarianship, (2) maintain the appearance, (3) confident, smiling, being friendly, and friends, (4) listen to each conversation and received no complaints with either, (5) speak the language properly and clearly, (6) enthusiastic in providing services and show the ability, (7) if it can not resolve the existing problems, can work together with other librarians.

Abstract

This research discusses the motivation of students in accessing the UNS digital librarysite. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of student motivation categoriesin accessing the UNS digital library site. The research method used in this researchis descriptive method, with single table analysis, processed by using SPSS 17.00. Thesample of this research is 60 people. Based on variable frequency distribution table,it is found that respondent’s motivation in accessing UNS digital library site can be inmedium or high category. This is evidenced by the results of research obtained showed48.3% results obtained based on statements from 29 respondents in this study. Thestudent’s motivation to access the digital library system is the need for informationhigh enough, especially on the motivation to gain knowledge about scientific work.

Abstract

Sharing knowledge in principle is a learning opportunity for the destitute. Sharing knowledge is part of the knowledge management process. Through sharing knowledge, it is expected to increase knowledge, experience and grow as well as develop new ideas. Sharing knowledge can only be done when each member has a wide opportunity in discussions, ideas, criticisms and comments to other members. Knowledge sharing between librarians both in organizations related internally and between organizations is important. Because the existence of sharing, librarians will add insight into the activities that are in the approval increase. This activity can be carried out routinely depending on the policies of the library leader. The Culture of Knowledge Sharing among librarians must be developed and continue to be developed. Sharing, will add insight into various activities and the development of knowledge about librarianship. Sharing activities, can be done regularly and periodically. Knowledge sharing creates a positive climate for librarians. In addition to increasing knowledge, it is also a means of communication between librarians.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper are (1) to describe any procedures in the weeding activities after integrated library faculty with central library at Sebelas Maret Univercity in Surakarta and (2) to describe any obstacles encountered in the process of weeding at after integrated library faculty with central library at Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. The type of this research is qualitative research through parsipative observation and study literature. The results of the research are summarized as follow. First, the process of weeding activity management a the Library after integratedfaculty library with central library at Univesitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta became old collection, Second. The obstacles faced in weeding activity management at Universitas Sebelas Maret is the absence of a written policy in weeding activities management, limits of space to surve collection, limits of librarians, and mistake of inputing on computer data base.Key words: collection, weeding, old collections

Abstract

Perpustakaan perguruan tinggi dihadapkan dengan berbagai tantangan seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi. Ada lima tantangan yang dihadapi oleh perpustakaan yakni hubungan antara perpustakaan dengan masyarakat kampus, penggunaan anggaran perpustakaan, menjaga pustakawan mengikuti perkembangan teknologi informasi; dan menjaga keseimbangan antara koleksi digital dan bahan cetak dan berbagai layanan yang ada di perpustakaan. Pemimpin perpustakaan perguruan tinggi dituntut untuk mempunyai visi, harus berintegritas/ kejujuran, dapat diajak untuk bekerja sama, mempunyai keterampilan kepemimpinan dan keterampilan dalam bidang manajemen serta dituntut terampil dalam berkomunikasi. Agar kepemimpinan perpustakaan dapat efektif maka diperlukan kolaborasi dengan berbagai pihak. Ledakan informasi teknologi, sumber daya dan layanan menuntut peningkatan tingkat layanan. Hal yang demikian tentunya membutuhkan pemimpin perpustakaan yang memiliki kompetensi dan pengetahuan baru yang selalu meningkatkan keahlian profesi untuk kelayakan profesi serta perlunya pengembangan keterampilan.

Abstract

Library website is one of the information retrieval media for students who are in the academic environment. Library website thus should adapt to the needs of students especially in conducting research. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Sebelas Maret University Library website (UNS) as library education media after the redesign. Redesigning the website focuses on how to present the information sources in which the collections of UNS Library either in printed or electronic form exists. The results of the analysis after redesigning the website showed that the use of the website is as expected. This is showed through the statistics of the web pages most frequently accessed, the number of visitors, time spent from new visitors and returning visitors to visit the Library website UNS, user behavior -especially switching between web pages- and device platform used by a visitor to visit the Library website UNS. As a conclusion, after the redesign, UNS Library website is capable of facilitating student learning behavior that is independent, techie and mobile.

Abstract

The mosque library has the main task that is to encourage the creation of the atmosphereof the life of the congregation into a society that has a culture of iqra ‘(read) is animplementation of Surat Al-Alaq verses 4 and 5. To support the task poko, the LibraryMasjid must implement several important roles owned by the library of mosques inorder to foster interest in reading and transformation of knowledge to the public.The role that is owned by the Library Mosque, among others: 1). As an Agency orintermediary of information to the community or mosque congregation. 2). As MediaTransformation and dissemination of information or science to society and 3). As aprovider of cheap information for the community.
