Abstract

Abstract? A language without grammar is a body without soul. Grammar truly holds an essential part in a language. In grammar, there is one important part which is said to be quantifier. Quantifier is specific words used to count numbers of an object. Such as found in the phrases, two pages letter, three bars of chocolate, etc. Quantifier is widely used in plenty languages, yet not all languages. There are several languages which do not recognise the system of counting object using quantifier. Those languages only use substitute words having the same function as quantifier. This paper explain a comparative study between language which use quantifier (in this case Korean) and language which do not use quantifier (Javanese), yet use substitute words instead. The differences then compared in the view of how it is applied in the sentences in each language.

Abstract

Islamic banks are experiencing rapid development amid the current global crisis in Indonesia and even in the world. This becomes evidence that Sharia Bank can maintain its existence from all the problems of a complex economic crisis that hit in 2007. Indonesia as the largest Islamic country in the world is a potential market that supports the sustainability of Islamic banking. The Islamic sharia principles in its management, causes many people in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta decide to save their funds in Islamic banks. The population in this study is all Islamic bank customers in Yogyakarta, with sample selection using incidental sampling. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression. This study shows the positive influence of service and public trust in Islamic banks. Similarly, knowledge about Islamic banks, and one's religiosity has an important role in the decision making to save funds in Islamic banks in the city. Islamic labelity and current trends supported by high community religiosity are also important factors in the decision to deposit funds in Islamic banks. In fact, the biggest influence that influences customer's decision to save funds in a bank is the quality of service and trust. Thus, the attention of banking players is needed in improving performance and banking services, so that public confidence is higher in the decision to save funds in the bank. In other words, the community remains consistent to make economic transactions with banks in order to respond to the challenges of the economic crisis in the future.

Abstract

As an article simply plays a syntactic role in a language, it is often overlooked in a linguistic research on syntax (Farrell 2005). If it happens to Austronesian languages like Agabag, it will be a fatal mistake since an article has significant roles (Hudson 1978). The discussion of this paper is aimed at describing the roles of articles in Agabag. Generative-Transformational Approach is applied for the sake of descriptive and explanatory adequacies (Haegeman 1991). All processes of analyses are based on transformational principles, which involve theories of head-modifiers relations, which are also used to describe the structures and patterns of articles in Agabag. The analyses of this research result in some findings. Agabag language has articles which function as a determiner of an NP and become role assigners to the NP. The interpretation of the articles of Agabag is based on their function as a determiner as well as role-assigners to the NP. As a determiner, articles of Agabag are interpreted as ?this? and ?that?. As a role assigner each article is interpreted according to the role it assigns. If agreement between articles and NPs in most languages relies on gender and number, in Agabag it is based on the roles of NP (Radjaban 2013).
