Abstract

This scientific article presents the development and implementation of a community engagement project centered around the creation of "Prehistoric Rain Cookies." The project was undertaken in Desa Lempong, Kecamatan Jenawi, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Provinsi Jawa Tengah, situated in the vicinity of Mount Lawu, Indonesia. The primary goals of the project were twofold: first, to incorporate geological inspiration from ancient volcanic rock formations into culinary art, specifically in the form of unique cookies; and second, to foster geotourism combined with ecotourism as a means of empowering the local community socially, culturally, and economically. Through a series of direct interviews with the Lempong community, the most sought-after products by tourists visiting Mount Lawu were identified. Subsequently, the selected product, "Prehistoric Rain Cookies," was developed to resemble the accretionary lapilli rock formations found in the area. The cookies were packaged in two distinct shapes to resemble the original rock formations further. Legal procedures were followed, including copyright registration, to ensure the protection of the cookie creation. The project concluded with the handover of the cookies to the Lempong Village authorities, aiming to inspire local innovation, enhance cultural and economic growth through ecotourism, and serve as a geological educational tool for visitors to Mount Lawu. The implications of this project highlight the potential for incorporating scientific research findings into culinary creations to promote local empowerment and stimulate geotourism initiatives. Abstract

This research focuses on the development and implementation of a web-based citizen data management system in Keboan Anom Village, Sidoarjo, Indonesia. The aim of the study is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of citizen data recording and management processes. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Waterfall model is employed as the methodology for system development, ensuring an organized and systematic approach. Data collection involves semi-structured interviews and unstructured observations, targeting the village's RT 01 (neighborhood association) officials. The application features two key functions: citizen registration, including permanent and non-permanent residents, and a comprehensive data summary. Access to these functions is limited to the RT Secretary and the RT Chairman. The implementation of the system provides improved data management and financial tracking capabilities, enabling simplified reporting. The web-based platform ensures accessibility for RT officials and residents with internet connectivity. Black box testing confirms the functionality of the website and its compliance with expected outputs. The results demonstrate that the application supports the transformation of Keboan Anom Village into a more efficient and technologically connected Digital Village. Abstract

Household waste, particularly solid waste, poses significant environmental challenges globally, impacting land, water, and air quality. This study aims to address the environmental degradation caused by waste accumulation by implementing a simple waste management approach in Kajartengguli Village, Indonesia. The method involves segregating household waste into organic and inorganic categories, with a focus on the composting of organic waste. By providing socialization and training sessions, the local community, specifically the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) members, were educated about waste management practices and trained in composting techniques. The outcomes revealed that this community engagement initiative increased waste management knowledge and empowered the residents to reduce household waste, particularly in Kajartengguli Village. The program's success lies in its ability to transform organic waste into compost, which not only improves soil fertility but also provides economic benefits through the sale of compost products. The implications of this study highlight the importance of community-driven waste management initiatives in mitigating the global waste crisis and promoting environmental stewardship. Highlight: Household waste management is crucial for mitigating the global waste crisis and reducing environmental pollution. Effective waste management involves segregating organic and inorganic waste, with a focus on composting organic waste. Community engagement programs can empower residents by increasing their knowledge and awareness of waste management practices, promoting the utilization of organic waste as compost, and reducing the population of household waste in the surrounding environment.
