Abstract

A poor self-concept in homosexual men may increase the risk of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS. The purpose of the study was to describe the gay self-concept based on the aspects of knowledge, hope, and assessment. This research was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The research informants were four gay men selected by using purposive sampling. The results showed that, based on the knowledge aspect, the informants acknowledged that homosexual behavior is a life choice influenced by genetic factors, environmental factors, and personal factors. The informants also admitted that they had been attracted to the same sex since childhood. Based on the aspect of hope, each informant has the hope of being accepted by the community while maintaining homosexual behavior, being able to marry the same sex, devoting himself to many people, especially homosexuals. Based on the assessment aspect, the informants feel proud and confident to be homosexual because they have unique talents that are different from heterosexual men. Suggestions related to this research are the need for socialization regarding the use of condoms, as well as the causes of homosexual behavior so that people do not isolate homosexuals but can guide and direct homosexuals to avoid deviant behavior such as always changing partners. In addition, it is necessary to check for sexually transmitted infections, especially in homosexual groups to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are health problems often experienced by workers due to several reasons, namely age, gender, body mass index, length of work, workload, work attitude and temperature. Hospital laundry workers are nonmedical staff in charge of washing dirty linens. As they use physical abilities, the workers have a high risk of musculoskeletal complaints. This study aimed to determine and analyze the risk of ergonomic MSDs in laundry workers at three public hospitals. This study was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The study was located at hospital Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes, RST Wirasakti and RSB Titus Uly Kupang, and was conducted in January - August 2021. The population in this study was all laundry staff who worked in three hospitals. The sample of 33 people was taken using total sampling technique. The results showed that there was a relationship between age (p= 0.027), years of service (p= 0.001), workload (p= 0.002), work attitude (p= 0.001) and temperature (p= 0.001) with MSDs. Gender (p= 0.183) and body mass index (p= 0.282) were found unrelated to MSDs. The Hospital Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Management needs to be improved by providing occupational health promotion, ergonomic work attitude training for laundry workers and provision of adequate laundry facilities to minimize the occurrence of MSDs.

Abstract

Satisfaction is a form of one's feelings after experiencing service quality that has met expectations. Health services, especially family planning, is expected to meet the needs of acceptors. However, there are complaints from acceptors related to the service of injectable contraceptive received. These complaints are related to the comfortability of the waiting room, the condition of the family planning room that is still not neatly arranged, and the lack of family planning equipment. The measurement of acceptor satisfaction needs to be carried out regularly, accurately and continuously through a satisfaction survey. This study aims to determine the level of acceptor satisfaction with Depo-Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) injection family planning at Baumata Health Center, Kupang Regency. The study was a survey with a quantitative approach. This study had a population of 74 people. A sample of 43 people were selected using proportional random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The results showed that acceptors were satisfied for the tangible dimension (88.4%), and very satisfied for the dimension of reliability (95.5%), responsiveness (95.3%), assurance (94.5%) and empathy (96.5%). The health center needs to improve the service quality of injectable contraceptives by ensuring the availability of related devices, timeliness in the service provision, and complete preparation of the injectable birth control equipment.

Abstract

HIV-AIDS is a dangerous disease in society. In Indonesia, people living with HIV-AIDS are still considered a disgrace, so that stigma appears in society which makes people living with HIV feel pessimistic in living their lives, mentally and psychologically being depressed by the stigma. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of PLWHA on the stigma of HIV-AIDS in Kupang City in 2019. The research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted by in-depth interviews with 6 informants using interview guidelines. The results showed that the informants had good knowledge about stigma because the informants had understood correctly that the bad treatment from family, neighbors, and health workers that the informants had received in their daily life was a stigma. Informants try to accept the stigma from neighbors and health workers positively because they are supported by the closest people and choose to continue taking treatment at health facilities for the survival of PLWHA. People living with HIV-AIDS continue to take ARVs and carry out activities like society in general. The hope of PLWHA related to stigma in this study is to reduce stigma and increase knowledge about HIV/AIDS and increase awareness of the health team and the community about the importance of caring for people with HIV-AIDS.

Abstract

Perinatal death is defined as fetal mortality at 28 weeks or more of pregnancy, as well as infant death within the first seven days of life. Pregnant women's nutritional status is one indicator that can be used to assess the risk of perinatal mortality. The goal of this research was to look at the factors determining perinatal death in the Sikumana Health Center Work Area in Kupang City. An analytic survey with a case-control design was used in this study. This study was conducted in the Sikumana Health Center's working region in Kupang City in November - December 2020. The study population was divided into two groups, the case population was mothers with cases of perinatal death totaling 38 people and the control population was mothers who had live births totaling 1,118 people. The sample consisted of 114 people grouped with 1:2 ratio of 38 cases and 76 controls. The sample was selected using simple random sampling. The results showed that there was an effect of hemoglobin level (p-value=0.000) and upper arm circumference (p-value=0.000) with perinatal mortality. Pregnant women need to increase their knowledge about balanced nutrition by accessing information from health media and consulting health workers at the nearest health facility.
