Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is still a health problem. NTT is one of the provinces with the third highest number of DHF cases in Indonesia in 2019. Oesapa Village is the highest DHF distribution area in Kupang City, where there were 52 DHF cases in early 2019. The transmission of DHF cannot be separated from the presence of Aedes sp mosquitoes as vectors. The initial survey showed that all household in Oesapa sub-district still had a standard free larvae rate (<95%). The Ministry of Health launched the One Home One Jumantik movement to support the PSN 4M Plus acculturation program, which required the active role of the family, especially a housewife as an independent larva monitor. The general objective of this research is to find out the behavior of housewives as larva monitors at household. The research design used was Cross Sectional Study. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of narration, tables and figures. The results showed that housewives' knowledge in the prevention and control of dengue vector was classified as good category. Most housewives have a positive attitude in the prevention and control of dengue vector. Also the behavior of housewives in the efforts to prevent and control DHF vectors have been classified as good categories. The community is expected to continue to actively participate and continue to make efforts to control the vector of DHF by involving housewives as agents of change.

Abstract

Diarrhea problems due to contamination with Escherichia coli bacteria in drinking water depots have become known in Kupang City. This is supported by Telan of the 2015 study in the work area of the Oepoi Community Health Center in the city of Kupang, in which it is found that 20% of the DAMIU are contaminated with E. coli bacteria. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of the DAMIU operator, the hygiene of the DAMIU devices, the personal hygiene and the description of the bacteriological content in DAMIU in the village of Lasiana in 2019 and also the bacteriological content of drinking water in DAMIU. This research is done at DAMIU in Lasiana Village. The time of the study was carried out from January to July 2019. The population in this study was the total DAMIU in the Lasiana district, which was 21 DAMIU. This study uses a Purposive Sampling technique so that the sample of this study is 10 DAMIU families located in the Lasiana district. The results of this study show that: The total bacteriological content of E. coli that does not meet the requirements is 60% DAMIU. For the renovation of DAMIU devices that do not meet 80% of the requirement. The number of DAMIU operators with a good level of knowledge is 90%. This does not mean good criteria for DAMIU body care. The conclusion is that DAMIU in Lasiana still does not meet the requirements of both bacteriological requirements as well as device hygiene and personal hygiene of the operator. Suggestions for the health office and DAMIU owners to comply with DAMIU hygiene standards more carefully and decisively.

The results of statistical tests showed that the variable age was associated with musculoskeletal disorders (p-value = 0.013), the working period variable was related to musculoskeletal disorders (p-value = 0.000), the length of work variable was related to musculoskeletal disorders (p-value = 0.012), work position was related to musculoskeletal disorders. Musculoskeletal disorders (p-value = 0.049), and workload not associated with musculoskeletal disorders (p-value = 0.538). Abstract

Laru is a traditional alcoholic beverage from NTT obtained from the fermentation of palm tree sap (Borassus flabellifer). Alcohol is a risk factor for someone suffering from hypertension because alcohol has the same effect as carbon dioxide which can increase blood acidity and cortisol levels so that the blood becomes thicker and the heart is forced to pump blood throughout the body, resulting in hypertension. Hypertension is a condition of a person's blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg. The purpose of this study was to analyze the type, amount, frequency and duration of consumption of laru with the incidence of hypertension in East Penfui Village in 2019. This research method is a case control study. The sample consisted of 40 cases and 40 controls with a ratio of 1: 1. Data analysis was performed with univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi square test. The thesis shows that the factors associated with hypertension are laru type (ρ = 0.004; OR = 5.127) and duration of laru consumption (ρ = 0.016; OR = 3.857), while unrelated factors are the amount of laru consumption (ρ = 0.252) and laru consumption frequency (ρ = 0.654). The community is expected to reduce consumption of laru so that they can avoid hypertension. Penfui Timur Village can make efforts to control alcohol so that alcohol consumption in the community can be controlled and does not cause health problems.

Abstract

Adolescence is a period of transitional development between childhood and adulthood where adolescents are vulnerable to peer influence in terms of interests, attitudes, appearances, and behaviors. This vulnerability may lead to various issues including reproductive health problems. The incidence of adolescent reproductive health problems such as early pregnancy and childbirth, unsafe abortion, sexually transmitted infections including Human Immunodeficiency Virus, sexual harassment/rape is influenced by factors of knowledge, attitudes, and the role of parents. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to reproductive health practices at SMP Negeri 16 Kupang. This research was an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 155 adolescents. The study was conducted in August 2020. Data analysis in this study used simple logistic regression analysis. The results found that 52.9% of adolescents had poor reproductive health practices. Reproductive health practice was associated with knowledge (p = 0.000), and the role of parents (p = 0.048) while attitudes (p = 0.948) was found unrelated to the practice. Increasing understanding of the importance of maintaining reproductive health is necessary to help adolescents anticipate the impact of reproductive health problems.

Abstract

A poor self-concept in homosexual men may increase the risk of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS. The purpose of the study was to describe the gay self-concept based on the aspects of knowledge, hope, and assessment. This research was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The research informants were four gay men selected by using purposive sampling. The results showed that, based on the knowledge aspect, the informants acknowledged that homosexual behavior is a life choice influenced by genetic factors, environmental factors, and personal factors. The informants also admitted that they had been attracted to the same sex since childhood. Based on the aspect of hope, each informant has the hope of being accepted by the community while maintaining homosexual behavior, being able to marry the same sex, devoting himself to many people, especially homosexuals. Based on the assessment aspect, the informants feel proud and confident to be homosexual because they have unique talents that are different from heterosexual men. Suggestions related to this research are the need for socialization regarding the use of condoms, as well as the causes of homosexual behavior so that people do not isolate homosexuals but can guide and direct homosexuals to avoid deviant behavior such as always changing partners. In addition, it is necessary to check for sexually transmitted infections, especially in homosexual groups to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS.
