Abstract

The researchers are tried to identify the meaning of beauty in Rare Beauty video advertisement. The data of this study were taken from one video on Rare Beauty Instagram account. Observation method was conducted in collecting the data through documentation and note-taking technique. The data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative method. The researchers used theory of meaning proposed by Barthes (1967) to identify the meaning of beauty in Rare Beauty video advertisement. The researchers found three meaning of beauty in Rare Beauty Video Advertisement. The first meaning of beauty is everyone is beautiful with their own uniqueness and there is no such a standard to consider as beauty. The second meaning of beauty is when the women are confident in expressing their beauty they will be happy. The third is everyone is different and the difference has to consider as the uniqueness so the women have to be confident because they are special. The last meaning of beauty is all women are beautiful with their skin tones, shapes and styles. Whatever their skin tones, their styles, they don’t need to compare themselves to the others because they are beauty in their own way.

Abstract

The phenomenon of code switching and code mixing is one of the various social contexts that can help in interaction and communication process, from one language to another, especially Indonesian-English. The study concerns are an attempt to understand the code switching and code mixing in the novel Negeri Para Bedebah by Tere Liye. The study uses the discriptive qualitative research method. It means that it describes clearly the fact of code switching and code mixing  based on the data that gained through reading the whole contain of the novel. The data was taken from episodes 23 until episodes 48 in the novel Negeri Para Bedebah by Tere Liye. The method used in collecting the data is library research method. The researcher reads the novel intensively to find out the data that suitable with the study and observing the utterance produced by the characters in the novel. For analyzing the data researcher applying the theory by Hoffmann (1991) and Muysken (2000). The result concludes code switching intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor and code mixing congruent lexicalization is dominantly used by the characters with 46,03% and 48,80%. Meanwhile, code switching quoting someone's word and type code mixing alternation be the lowest with 0,80% and 1,60%.

Abstract

Abstract- This study has aims; (1) to classify the types of code switching found in Jika Kita Tak Pernah Jadi Apa-Apa novel and (2) to analyze the reasons. It used descriptive qualitative method in order to identify the data. The code switching was described according to theory proposed in Appel and Muysken (1987) namely to classify the types and the theory by Hoffman (1991) to describe the reasons. The result  shows that all types with only 4 reasons for code switching were found in this novel types of code switching which is inter-sentential switching is the most dominant because Alvi looks more comfortable when using words, clauses and phrases in one sentence to convey motivational messages and from the result of the reason of code switching talking about a particular topic is dominant because Alvi Syahrin feels free and more comfortable to express his emotional feelings in a language that is not his everyday language.

Abstract

This study applied the theory of contact language proposed by Romaine (1988) which distinguish three types of code-switching, namely tag switching, inter-sentential switching, and intra-sentential-switching in order to identify the utterances collected from the conversations of Manggarai people in Nusa Dua Bali. The data were collected through listening and recording, transcribed, analysed, before being discussed descriptively. Abstract

This study aims to find out the types of subordinate clause and the most occurring type of subordinate clause which found in Gulliver’s Travels Novel. The quantitative and qualitative method are applied to analysed the data which based on the theory from (Miller, 2002) and supported theory by (Kroeger, 2005). The study found that complement clause, relative clause, and adverbial clause were the types of subordinate clause found in this novel. The complementizers found in the complement clause namely that. In the relative clause, the conjunction found such as which, that, who, whose, whom, how, and Ø. Meanwhile, the conjunctions found in adverbial clause are before, where, when (time), as (manner), although (concession), and if, that (condition). There were total 35 sentences containing subordinate clause found in the novel such as 3 sentences (8,6%) of complement clause, 19 sentences (54,3%) of relative clause, and 13 sentences (37,1%). Therefore, the most occurring type of subordinate clause found in the novel is relative clause as subordinate clause with total 19 sentences (54,3%). Especially, the type of non-restrictive with 15 sentences found.

Abstract

Human resources (HR) is one of the main assets in a company, the better the HR owned by the company , the easier the company's progress is to obtain. Good human resources are not only filled with employees with quality Intelligence Quotient (IQ), but also filled by employees who are able to control conflicts that occur around them, either in the work environment or in the family environment. The more qualified human resources an organization or company has, it is expected that the ability of the company or organization to compete will be better. Good performance is shown by workers, among others, by the education and training they receive. The actors used to improve worker performance include the education stage, training carried out by workers and worker satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect both collectively and individually on the level of education, training and employee satisfaction on the performance of the staff of the Education Office of Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. This Study is a descriptive quantitative research, data collection method using questionnaires and multiple linear regression as data analysis, which was performed using SPSS software version 24. The sample used a number of 92 respondents. The results showed that both simultaneously and individually the level of education, training and employee satisfaction had an influence on the work performance of the employees of the Education Office of Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. The results also showed that the training factor gave the largest contribution to performance.

Abstract

Understanding of accounting is someone who is clever and understands accounting properly. Accounting is a process of recording, classifying, summarizing, processing and presenting data, transactions and events related to finance so that it can be used by people who use it easily understood for making decisions and for other purposes. This study aims to determine the effect of gender, emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence on the level of accounting understanding of students majoring in accounting at private universities in the city ​​of Denpasar. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique as many as 376 accounting students. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that the gender variable affects the level of accounting understanding with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 , the emotional intelligence variable has no effect on the level of accounting understanding with a significance value of 0.74> 0.05, the spiritual intelligence variable has no effect on the level of understanding. Accounting with a significance value of 0.663> 0.05.
