Abstract

Indonesia has a national interest in carrying out the constitutional mandate in terms of maintaining active involvement to affirm that independence is the right of all nations and colonialism is contrary to the arguments of humanity and justice. Therefore, through United Nations Security Council, Indonesia rejects all forms of colonialism, including issues between Israel and Palestine. This research focuses on Indonesia's foreign policy and its capacity as a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council. The method used is a qualitative method with a literature study that is validated through an explicit confirmation process at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the analytical framework used is a comparative foreign policy perspective to map the factors that influence the process of making Indonesian foreign policy in different terms of office, that is president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono 2007-2008 and Joko Widodo 2019-2020. The findings of this study indicate that consideration of enacting Indonesia's foreign policy on Palestine is a sustainable policy with the roots of the constitutional mandate and Indonesia's commitments in the past, that’s why almost no major changes can be found even though they have gone through the presidential transition process. Palestine also can be has a vital position for Indonesia considering that Palestine is the only conflicting country that has always existed in a formal discussion of Indonesian state documents. The difference can be found in how each reign reacts to external factors such as the invasion or blockade that Israel has done.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an effect of human development on poverty in Bangka Regency in 2011-2020 and how big the effect was. The locus of this research is in Bangka Regency. This type of research is quantitative with an associative approach with a simple linear regression analysis model. The feasibility test of the regression model uses the classical assumption test, and the t test to see the significance of the effect. The results showed that human development had a negative but not significant effect on poverty in Bangka Regency. The magnitude of the influence of human development on poverty is only 36.9 percent, the remaining 63.1 percent is influenced by other variables not included in this study. Simple linear regression equation Y = 13.839 – 0.122 X, regression coefficient value -0.122, meaning that if Human Development with the Human Development Index indicator increases by 1 point, then the poverty rate in Bangka Regency is predicted to decrease by 0.122 percent. Recommendation to the government of Bangka Regency is that in development planning to utilize the results of research or research, especially research related to the influence of human development on poverty. The allocation of funds related to human development needs to be evaluated, so that it is more targeted in alleviating poverty in Bangka Regency, because in reality it has no significant effect on reducing poverty in terms of the 2011-2020 data series.

Abstract

This paper examines the construction and contextuality of the discourse on the Capital City of the Nusantara by President Joko Widodo's Twitter account. Focusing on the phenomenon of the relocation of the capital city with a discourse perspective can contribute to discussions about the operation of ideological power in power through political or governmental communication. Using the research method of critical discourse analysis, this paper finds that the discourse on the new State Capital is constructed through three stages of discourse, namely the study discourse, the strategic decision discourse, and the political economy consolidation discourse. While the context in the discourse is in three situations, namely the agenda engineering situation, the policy formulation situation, and the policy implementation situation. These three situations have tug-of-war at their respective moments and tend to create contradictions between one statement and another from President Joko Widodo about the new National Capital. However, the context of the discourse on the new State Capital by President Joko Widodo in this paper also tends to prove the arguments in previous writings, namely that President Joko Widodo is building a legacy strategically in ambitious ways.

Abstract

The governments in the Central Asian Region (CAR), until recently, have failed to recognize the prevalence of human trafficking as a social and human rights problem. Even though the problem has persisted for a long time, there is almost non-existent empirical evidence on intervention approaches. Therefore, this study curates and synthesizes evidence on human trafficking interventions in CAR to open up academic conversations in this area. This study adopts the rapid documentary analysis approach as a starting point for further studies, drawing insights from the ecological systems theory to examine human trafficking interventions in CAR. The data is analyzed in line with thematic analysis procedures. Major themes representing overarching mechanisms used in the CAR to intervene in human trafficking situations include 1) awareness creation to expand knowledge on human trafficking 2) provision of shelter and psychosocial support 3) collaborations between different organizations and sectors and 4) tightening legislation. The findings suggest that while this study sets to open conversations about human trafficking interventions in Central Asia as the first study on human trafficking interventions, it is important to use other data curation methods to explore the extent of human trafficking interventions in the region which will fill any information gap this study might have missed.
