Abstract

Menstruation and breast enlargement in female adolescents are physical characteristics that these adolescents are entering puberty. The menstrual period begins when the reproductive organs are mature or capable of producing eggs. Menstruation is a physiological thing that occurs in female adolescents. Although physiologically, menstrual complaints are considered as disturbing things such as pain, nausea, joint pain or often called dysmenorrhea. Efforts were made to take medicine and sleep, but some claimed to have allergic reactions such as swollen eyes and even shortness of breath. Treatment with natural methods or ingredients is currently believed to be used to overcome dysmenorrhea complaints. The methods are effleurage massages that scientifically proven to reduce menstrual pain and the ingredients used are Ginger (Zingiber officinale oil) which contains shogaol and gingerol compounds that can effectively reduce menstrual pain. Objectives: This study aims to examine the effects of combinations treatments between massages and herbal medicine which can overcome complaints of dysmenorrhea. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest posttest design. The population was female students at SMK 2 Malang who were selected by purposive sampling to obtain a sample size of 74 respondents. Then the data were tested for homogeneity and analyzed by paired t test. Results: Based on the data collected from the research respondents, it is known that the results of the Fisher homogeneity test have a P value (0.522), which means that the data is homogeneous. The results of the paired T test show that T count (21.182) which is greater than T table (1.993). Conclusions: Based on the test results, there was a decrease in the pain experienced by the respondents, this proves that the application of zingiber oil can prevent or reduce the rate of dysmenorrhea in respondents.

Abstract

The elderly experience a decrease in function, especially in the function of blood circulation. Blood circulation diseases and hormonal metabolism disorders experienced by the elderly include hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is a disorder of fat metabolism that triggers an increase in total blood cholesterol levels, namely> 200 mg/dl. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of A. muricata leaf extract in decreasing total cholesterol levels in the elderly with hypercholesterolemia. Quantitative research method, using a quasi-experimental type with a group pretest-posttest design, with a sample size of 20 elderly. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, was carried out for a week consuming three times a day. The paired t-test showed a value of 8.73 and a p-value of 0.001. This study's results indicated a significant difference between the average cholesterol levels in the pre-test and post-test administration of Annona Muricata leaf extract. Compounds contained in soursop leaves, namely flavonoids, by reducing the activity of HMG-koa reductase (enzyme β-Hydroxy β-methylglutaryl-CoA) can reduce the activity of ACAT (enzyme acyl-Coa cholesterol acyltransferase), and reduce the absorption activity of cholesterol in the liver. Digestive tract. Saponin compounds in soursop leave lower cholesterol by binding to cholesterol in the intestinal lumen, thereby preventing the reabsorption of cholesterol. Saponins can bind with bile acids, which in turn will reduce the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids and cause an increase in the process of excretion of cholesterol.

Abstract

Less milk production is one of the causes of failure of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia. Milk production can be increased by using herbs, namely katuk leaves. Katuk leaves are usually processed into clear vegetables. However, milk production is still low. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of health education on the knowledge of third-trimester pregnant women about the method of making katuk leaf clear vegetable as an effort to increase milk production. The method in this study was a quasi-experiment with a one group pretest – posttest design. The number of samples used in this study was the total population of pregnant women in the third trimester of 28 people. This research was conducted in August 2022 in Jempong Baru Village, Mataram City. Bivariate analysis uses the T-Test because the data is normally distributed with a significant value of 0.083>0.05. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was an effect of providing health education on the third trimester pregnant women's knowledge of the method of making katuk leaf clear vegetable with a p value <0.05 (p=0.006). In addition, there was an increase in the knowledge of pregnant women by 25% after being given health education. The conclusion in this study is that health education can increase pregnant women's knowledge about the method of making katuk leaf clear vegetable. It is recommended for pregnant women to increase knowledge about plant processing methods that can increase milk production so that breastfeeding mothers can give exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Introduction: The mortality rate is an important health indicator and reflects the degree of health in an area. The Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia is still high. The infant mortality rate is largely due to nutritional factors. Some diseases that arise due to malnutrition include pneumonia, diarrhea, and perinatal. Exclusive breastfeeding can reduce infant morbidity and mortality. The most common reason found in breastfeeding mothers who stop breastfeeding is due to insufficient milk production. Utilization of plants/vegetables such as Moringa Oleifera is often used by the community to increase milk production. The most widely used processing of Moringa Oleifera by nursing mothers is to make it a clear vegetable. The aim of this study was to screen for phytochemicals on the clear vegetables of Moringa Oleifera. Methods: The method in this study was to carry out laboratory tests on clear vegetable Moringa Oleifera consisting of 150 grams of Moringa Oleifera, 750 cc of water, and salt to taste. Alkaloid screening used Mayer's and Dragendorff's reagents, while steroids used acetic acid, anhydrous and concentrated H2SO4 reagents. Results: The results showed that the clear vegetable of Moringa oleifera showed the content of alkaloid and steroid compounds. Conclusion: Utilization of clear vegetable moringa leaves is an alternative that can be used to overcome the problem of insufficient milk production, besides being cheap and easy to obtain. Suggestion: Future researchers are advised to conduct research that can be directly applied to breastfeeding mothers to prevent failure of exclusive breastfeeding due to insufficient milk production.
