Abstract

The purpose of this study was to the influence reading habits and reading strategies on students reading comprehension at junior high school 1 in the district Benai-Kuansing.There were three questions contained in this study.Firstly,Is there any significant  influence of reading habit on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.Secondly, Is there any significant  influence of reading strategies on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.Thirdly, Is there any significant  influence of reading habit and reading strategies on students’ reading comprehension in junior high school 1  Benai.This study used quantitative explanatory research. The subjects in this study are 70 students of the second grade students. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires and tests. The questionnaires in this study related to students' reading habits and students' reading strategies, while the tests related to student reading comprehension. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classic assumption tests, multiple regression tests and hypothesis testing.The results of this study indicate that, student reading habits (X1) have significant results of 0,685. Student reading strategies (X2) have significant results of 0.379. And student reading comprehension (Y) has a significance result of 0.818. Therefore, the researcher concludes that there is a positive and significant contribution of student reading habits and student reading strategies on student reading comprehension. Keywords:Reading Habit, Reading Strategies, Reading Comprehension.

Abstract

Pengaruh supervisi Kepala Madrasah dan komitmen kerja guru terhadap profesionalitas guru pada MTsN 1 Kota Pekanbaru dilakukan melalui uji korelasi ganda dan uji regresi linier berganda. Melalui uji korelasi ganda terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara supervisi Kepala Madrasah dengan profesionalitas guru, hal ini diperoleh nilai sig. untuk supervisi Kepala Madrasah sebesar 0.000. Hasil ini jika dibandingkan dengan nilai probabilitas 0.05, maka ia lebih kecil (0.000 < 0.05). Selain uji korelasi ganda juga dilakukan uji regresi linier berganda hasil analisis signifikan dengan nilai F sebesar 11.066 dengan signifikansi 0.000. Nilai taraf signifikansi 0.00 tersebut adalah lebih rendah dari pada 0.05, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa supervisi Kepala Madrasah dan komitmen kerja guru secara bersama berpengaruh terhadap profesional guru di MTsN 1 Kota Pekanbaru, dengan taraf siginifikansi 0.00. maka Kepala Madrasah perlu terus melakukan Pengembangan supervisi dan program-program peningkatan komitmen kerja guru di MTsN 1 Kota Pekanbaru agar profesional guru tetap terus terjaga. Kata Kunci: Guru Profesional, Uji Korelasi Ganda, Uji Regresi Linier                                  Berganda

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of storytelling through a contextual teaching and learning (CTL) approach in grade 5 students of state elementary schools 018 gateway sari kecaptung hilir district. Kampar. The concept of learning that emphasizes the relationship between learning material with the real world of student life. So students are able to connect and apply learning outcomes competencies in everyday life. This research is a classroom action research using observation, library study and cycle performance assessment. The results showed the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach can improve student learning outcomes in Mathematics subjects. This can be seen in the results of the study which showed that in cycle I students completed 16 people 80% while students who did not complete 4 people 18%. Likewise, this approach can increase students' enthusiasm in learning so that the classroom atmosphere when the teaching and learning process becomes more lively and the implementation of learning story questions through the CTL approach consists of 7 steps of the CTL approach and combined with the steps to solve the story problems. Learning using the CTL approach can be divided into three stages: the initial stage, the core stage, and the final stage. In the initial stage the activities of activating students' initial knowledge are carried out, conveying learning objectives, and apperception. At the core stage CTL steps are carried out namely constructivism, inquiry, asking questions, learning communities, modeling, reflection, and actual assessment. In the final stages of activity students are directed to conclude learning and provide a final test. In conclusion students are motivated to learn, because students will be active in learning, foster a sense of cooperation in groups, learning outcomes can be measured in various ways, and make learning more fun and meaningful for students

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan melalui metode field trip kelas IX A di SMPN 4 Tapung Hilir. Jenis penelitian yang ditetapkan dalam penelitianini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Ada empat tahapan dalam penelitian tindakan, yaitu (1) perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan, (3) pengamatan, dan (4) refleksi, sedangkan penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus dengan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian tindakan  kelas ini adalah siswa kelas IX A SMP N 4 Tapung Hilir dengan jumlah siswa yang diteliti sebanyak 31 siswa yang terdiri dari 13 siswa dan 18 siswi. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode field trip dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan atas siswa kelas IX A di SMPN 4 Tapung Hilir. Terjadi peningkatan keterampilan menulis karangan atas siswa dari siklus I dan siklus II. Hasil evaluasi sikus I dari 31 siswa yang berhasil mencapai KKM yaitu sebanyak 12 siswa (38,71%), dan hasil evaluasi nilai siklus II dari 31 siswa yang berhasil mencapai KKM yaitu sebanyak 26 siswa (83,87%).

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' chemical mastery in learning is still low, especially for abstract concept/theory material. This can be seen from students being less active and lacking memory in following the learning process.  In addition, schools only rely on textbooks that make students less interested in learning and there is no student workbook to support students' understanding. This research aimed at knowing the appropriateness of the instructional media design in the form of Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson.  It was administered at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru.  It was R&D (Research and Development) with 4-D model, and it was limited to 3 models—define, design, and development.  The subjects of this research were the experts of material, the experts of media, and the experts of language, Chemistry subject teachers, 10 students at the tenth grade of MIA 1.  The object was Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson.  The research findings showed that Probing-Prompting based student workbook was appropriate to be used and it was based on the results of validity and practicality levels.  The percentage of validity level obtained was 85.78% (very valid) and the practicality level was 85.33% (very practical).  Based on theses results, it could be identified that Probing-Prompting based student workbook could be tested further.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to find out the influence of students’ understanding of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery on their reading comprehension of recount text at State Vocational Senior High Schoo 1 Logas Tanah Darat Kuantan Singingi Regency. This is a correlational research that consists of three variables; two independent variables, namely the students’understanding of sentence pattern and their vocabulary mastery, and one dependent variable which is the students’ reading comprehension of recount text. The research participants consisted of 175 tenth-grade students at the State Vocational Senior High School. The instruments that were used to collect the data are tests. After analysing the collected data by using SPSS, the results showed that the students’ understanding of sentence pattern is at the high level (M = 73.30, SD = 1.59) and their vocabulary mastery is also at the high level (M = 70.97, SD = 1.56). Besides, their reading comprehension of recount text is at the high level too (M = 67.91, SD = 1.66). After analysing the data by using multiple regressions, the finding indicated that there is a significant influence of the students’ understanding of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery on their reading comprehension of recount text, in which F = 82.14, p=0.000<0.05. Then the percentage of the students’ understanding of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery is 0.842 (84.20%). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. Keywords: Influence, Sentence Pattern, Vocabulary Mastery, Reading  Comprehension

Abstract

Mempelajari bahasa merupakan pekerjaan yang panjang dan berkelanjutan. Hal ini tentu melibatkan berberapa aspek, baik aspek intelektual, respon fisik, maupun aspek emosional. Personaliti atau kepribadian dalam diri seseorang merupakan faktor yang dapat membantu bagi  kesuksesan dan keberhasilan proses pembelajaran bahasa. Kepribadian seseorang berperan  penting dalam  proses  pengiriman  dan  penerimaan  pesan  melalui bahasa. Ini berarti, bahwa kepribadian akan ikut menentukan terhadap keberhasilan penerimaan bahasa ke dua. Budaya adalah bagian integral dari interaksi antara bahasa dan pikiran. Faktor sosial dan kultur atau budaya memiliki hubungan yang sangat erat dengan pembelajaran bahasa. Setiap kali kita mengajarkan satu bahasa, kita juga mengajarkan satu sistem keseluruhan tentang kebiasaan budaya, nilai-nilai,cara berpikir, merasa, dan bertindak. Permasalahan ini akan dijawab dalam tulisan inni menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan (library reaserch) yang akan menjawab apa saja faktor faktor personalitas dan sosiokultural yang dapat mempengaruhi proses pembelajaran bahasa. Abstract

Based on the formulation of the problem, the objectives to be achieved in this study are as follows. To find out the improvement of learning outcomes after using the discussion method, in learning Social Sciences the main discussion of the location and area of Indonesia in SMPN 4 Tapung Hilir The research design set in this study is classroom action research. There are four stages in action research, namely (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. Based on the results of research conducted on students of Class VIIA IPS, amounting to 20 students, the researcher can collect data on student learning outcomes through written tests. The following are the results of pre-test and post-test learning of students taught using the discussion method. the level of mastery of students' material in the pretest as follows. value 40-46 with a frequency of 4 (20%), a value of 47 -53 with a frequency of 5 (25%), a value of 54-60 with a frequency of 4 (20%), a value of 61-67 with a frequency of 2 (10%), a value of 68-75 with a frequency of 5 (41.67%). Based on the data obtained in the pretest shows that the number of students who completed as many as 5 students or (25%), not complete as many as 15 students or (75%), while the first cycle of students who completed as many as 15 students or (75%), and incomplete 5 students or (25%).

Abstract

CIRC is a cooperative learning program that involves a series of activities derived from research on reading comprehension and writing skill. Students work in four-member heterogeneous learning teams. After the teacher introduces a story from a basal text or trade book, students work in their teams on a prescribed series of activities relating to the story. In this research, two classes  were involved; one class as the experimental group, which was treated by using CIRC method and another one as control group was taught without using CIRC method. For both experimental and control groups, pre-test and post-test were administered to the students. The data were analyzed by using statistical analysis. To know the result whether it was be statistically significant, it was analyzed by using t-test. This study investigated the effect of  using cooperative integrated reading and composition (circ) method on students’ reading comprehension and writing skill. Data the research were collected from 30 students of SMAN 1 Rimba Melintang. The findings showed Reading Comprehension that the average score of the pre-test was 50.83 and post-test was 76.17. and findings showed Writing Skill that the avearge score of the pre-test was 62.63 and post-test was 74.67.Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. There was significant effect of using cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method on students’ reading comprehension and writing skill at SMAN 1 Rimba Melintang. Keywords: Cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) Reading Comprehension,and Writing Skill.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the correlation between learning styles and self-confidence on student’s motivation At SMK Perikanan Provinsi Riau. This research was a correlational study using quantitative method.  The subject of the research was all students of SMK Perikanan Provinsi Riau consisting 10 classes. The research sample was taken by using random sampling method from ten classes which each class has different number of students. The total population was 227, and the total sample was 114. The data was analyzed by using SPSS version 17. Based on the descriptive statistic of learning styles showed that group was the favorite styles who has chosen by student at Smk Perikanan Provinsi riau with mean score 18.64, another favorite styles was kinesthetic with means score 15.49. Furthermore, the total students who have high self-confidence were 80 persons and 34 students for average score. Additionally, students who have medium level were 69, 30 students for high level and 15 students for low level. The research findings showed that first; there was no significant correlation between learning styles and student’s motivation with score 0.18>0.05. Second, there was significant correlation between self-confidence and student’s motivation with score 0.00< 0.05. Third, there was significant correlation between learning styles and self-confidence on student’s motivation with score 0.00<0.05 at Smk Perikanan Provinsi Riau.
