Abstract

"Whither Muslim evangelism in the 2000’s?" thus the questionthe care of Phil Parshall. According to Parshall, it's not like 1980when things become missionary in an Islamic country it becomes a trend andpride, the 2000s were marked by the slack mission to the Islamic world. It's really unfortunate even though Islam is the most religionfast growth in this world.Just as in a very pluralistic Christianity, so too is Islam. One of the big blocks (about 70%) that make up the Islamic world is what is called, "Abangan Islam," (English, "Folk Islam" or "Popular Islam"). This type of Islam issyncretistic, mainly characterized by an animistic worldview. In Indonesia, Javanese Abangan Islam is a very appropriate representationfrom this class of Islam. This paper will try firstlaying out the biblical basis for the practice of contextualization in brief, then followed by an understanding of the Javanese Islamic worldview and finally closed with an effort to find a "theological bridge" to reach the Javanese Islamic group effectively. === “Whither Muslim evangelism in the 2000’s?” demikian pertanyaan kepedulian dari Phil Parshall.

Abstract

In the pre-modern world people generally believed in the supernatural. Individuals and culture as a whole believed in the existence of God (or gods), angels, and demons. The visible world owed its existence and meaning to a spiritual realm beyond the senses. However, such worldviews began to die with the coming of Enlightenment of 17th and 18th centuries. The age of reason, scientific thinking, and human autonomy that characterized the Enlightenment brought to being the so-called natural religion. The result was the disappearance of immanent God (Deism) and the rejection of the socalled “excluded middle” – the unseen world of spirits, and the supernatural. Such attitude may well be summarized in Rudolf Bultmann’ famous statement: “It is impossible to use electric light and the wireless and to avail ourselves of modern medical and surgical discovers, and at the same time to believe in the New Testament worlds of spirits and miracles.”

Abstract

This paper examines the Pentecostal/charismatic concerns of spiritual vulnerability of Christians through demonisation in curses. It will studies popular writers such as Derek Prince and Rebecca Brown and academic authors such as Charles Kraft and Ed Murphy to assess the accuracy of such views in comparison to the biblical data on curse to propose a more robust and sound theological, ministerial and misssiological understanding and praxis for how Christians may engage with curses.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article discusses the problem about binding and loosing prayer or deliverance prayer in its popular term. For the proponent, this concept, binding and loosing prayer is considered the important part in spiritual warfare that had to be practiced every day. Whereas the group who refuse assume this kind of prayer is arisen more from experience than the thorough biblical exegesis. This article will discuss the controversy about this binding and loose prayer and then examine the biblical verses that use to be basic for this prayer for answer the main question, to what extent the authority that believer has in spiritual warfare.

Abstract

Abstract

It cannot be denied that the presence of feminist liberation movements and theology has left such a profound influence on the history of the paradigm shift of the church even more into the wider scope. The theology of feminism has also correctly demonstrated the general failure of men in fulfilling God's plan regarding the purpose of his creation, since love in a husband-wife life is described as Christ loves to His church. The next positive contribution of the theology of liberation of feminism has also stood against the practice of oppression, humiliation, manipulation and even the exploitation of women. It should be noted, however, that in addition to the great contributions that can even trigger a paradigm shift, feminist movements and theology also leave problematic traces. This Christian feminist flow moves in a Christian framework but their method of feminism and theology approach generally entirely uses a liberal perspective. On the one hand they assume that this developed theology comes from the inspired word of God, but on the other hand they step out of the orthodoxy of traditional Christian faith. One of the terms used to respond to feminist movements and theology is that they apply "hermeneutic of suspicion". This means that systematically they assume that the writers of books of the Bible that are generally men, as well as their interpreters deliberately cover the role of women in the era of early Christianity. Also they attempted to abolish the cultural system which is the hallmark of society in the time of writing holy books, the patriarchy that can be matched by the demythologization of Bultmann. This method of exegesis is characterized by Heidegger's existential understanding that is firmly attached to the spirit of feminists in their struggle for rights and ideals. Strictly speaking such a view is certainly far from the biblical truth. If feminists believe that the Bible contains many mistakes but why then they also use them as the basis of authority for their theological principles. It is unfortunate that, on the other hand, this feminist movement must take extreme measures such as sacrificing orthodox Christian principles and tend to be liberal. Martin Buber's view on the importance of dialogue between the sexes proved to provide a way out of the danger of the continued practice of male domination over women; but also preventing women from the risk of extreme feminist liberation movements.

Abstract

Malaysia is an ethnically diverse and religiously pluralistic nation. Within its population Christians number 9.2% while the remainder is comprised of Muslims (61.3%), Buddhists (19.8%), Hindus (6.3%), and other religions (3.4%) such as Confucianism, Taoism, folk/traditional/animistic religions, and others (Department of Statistics Malaysia, 2010). It is thus not surprising that any non-Christian to Christian encounter should implicate followers of Jesus, who are trying to understand whether non-Christians may be following the right path towards truth and also whether the spirits they worship are in any biblical sense the Spirit of truth of which Jesus speaks (Jn. 14:17; 15:26; 16:13) or that of another spirit. If interreligious relationships can be understood in this context, then the task of discerning the spirits, whether it is the Holy Spirit or “other” spirits at work, is of great importance. Biblically, all Christians are called to discern the spirits (1 Jn. 4:1-3) of those at work in this world as well as the truth or error that may be perpetuated behind these spirits.

Abstract

The term hermeneutic comes from the Greek word hermeneuo, which means to convey (a thought or desire), explain (a speech), and translate (something from one language to another). This word is related to the god Hermes, a god in Greek mythology whose job is to convey the message of the gods to humans as recipients. Hermeneutics has always been used as the science and art of interpreting Scripture. It is important to note that hermeneutics is closely related to biblical studies, such as canon studies, textual criticism, historical criticism, exegesis, biblical theology and systematic theology.

Abstract

In recent years, the Big Bang as described by the Lambda CDM-Standard Model Cosmology has become widely accepted by majority of physics and cosmology communities. But the philosophical problems remain, as Vaas pointed out: Did the universe have a beginning or does it exist forever, i.e. is it eternal at least in relation to the past? This fundamental question was a main topic in ancient philosophy of nature and the Middle Ages, and still has its revival in modern physical cosmology both in the controversy between the big bang and steady state models some decades ago and in the contemporary attempts to explain the big bang within a quantum cosmological (vacuum fluctuation) framework. In this paper we argue that Neutrosophic Logic offers a resolution to the long standing disputes between beginning and eternity of the Universe. In other words, in this respect we agree with Vaas, i.e. it can be shown: “how a conceptual and perhaps physical solution of the temporal aspect of Immanuel Kant’s „first antinomy of pure reason“ is possible, i.e. how our universe in some respect could have both a beginning and an eternal existence. Therefore, paradoxically, there might have been a time before time or a beginning of time in time.” By the help of computational simulation, we also show how a model of early Universe with rotation can fit this new picture. Further observations are recommended.
