Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) to get clear description of students’ success inachieving basic competence on National Final Examination; (2) identify factors that caused unabilityof the students to acquire basic standard competence stated by the government; and (3) formulatealternative solution to increase the students’ standard competence at Bengkalis and Kepulauan MerantiRegency. The sample of this research were choosen based on the area of the school, SMAN IBengkalis, SMAN I Tebing Tinggi and SMAN Rangsang. The object of the research is English. Therewere two kinds of data needed in this research. Primary data gained from indepth interview,observation and questionaire, while secondary data obtained from documentation study. The result ofthe research indicated that some of the eight aspects stated by National Standard of Education were notapplied well, so it needs improvement.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know whether the method of Group Investigation couldimproved the ability of the fourth semester students of English Department, FKIP UR, in identifyingthe elements of plot in short drama (one act drama). This research was also aimed to find what factorscaused the improvement.The research method used was the Classrom Action Research (CAR). Throughthe application of Group Investigation, the research findings showed that the ability of the fourthsemester students of English Department has improved significantly in identifying the theme and theelements of plot in short drama text. Average percentage of students’ activity in meeting I (56.05%)increased to (67.42%) in meeting II in cycle I. This percentage increased to (84.04%) in meeting I incycle II. The improvement of percentage activity became (90.90%) in meeting II cycle II. The averagegrade of students’ ability in pre-test was (54%) after students involvement in teaching and learningprocess by using the type of Group Investigation, the students’ ability became (61.88%) in post-test Iand reached (78.18%) in post-test II.The dominant factors that cause the students’ improvement are 1)alomost all students were active in teaching and learning process 2) the students were struggle hard andresponsible to their own group.

Abstract

Quality ofIndonesianHigher Educationis low, the evidence of which:UnemploymentgraduatesbyAugust 2011is737,030people (BPS RI, 2011); rankingIndonesian highereducationglobally is below, where according to the THE-QS World University Ranking, University ofIndonesia (rankedhighestinIndonesia)in 2011was ranked217of the 600best universitiesin the world;rankedUniversity of Gadjah Mada is 321; InstitutTeknologi Bandungrank401 (Ditjen DiktiKemendiknas, 2011).The lowquality mainly due togovernment'slack of commitmentto education, andleadership andmanagementof higher education thathave not beenbasedon the valuesofacademicquality.Consequence is a lowerquality ofinputs(curriculum, faculty, funding, andinfrastructure). Then theresultto thelow quality oftheeducation, research, community service,andprocess managementand governance.The finalresultis the lowquality ofoutputs and outcomes.Toimprove thequality, the governmentshould increaseits commitment to: the establishmentandimplementation of policies/regulationsand the provision ofeducationandthe allocation of funds. Inaddition,the selection ofthe leaderof thetop-level(Rector/Director) to lower levels(Chairman ofProdi/Labor) must be based onvalues-based academicquality.

Abstract

The low quality of education in Indonesia, has been widely recognized by variousparties, especially by education observers. Based on the necessary effort to improve the quality ofeducation, one to carry out the study based on analysis of problems in the field. This study aims toobtain a clear picture of (a) to identify the competency standard / basic competencies that have notmastered high school students in Bengkalis discussion on any subject Maths subjects tested on the UN,(b) identify the factors that cause students not master the competency standard / basic competencies, (c)design and develop a model for solving the problem. Study sample was held at SMAN SMAN 1Bengkalis and High Cliff. The focus of research is the management system, teachers, educationalfacilities, which refers to the national standards of education and culture. Data were collected throughclassroom observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. This research resulted inalternative solutions to problems (1) Training for teachers of mathematics-based subjects MGMP. (2)Guidance and stabilization of materials for teachers of educational background do not fit. (3) Trainingfor school management and administrative staff. All activities ready to be implemented in concreteterms through community service activities through cooperation with the Department of HigherEducation D2PM Bengkalis.

Abstract

The Purpose of this research is to analyze the study problems subjected to junior highschool students. In particular, the students who being object of this research are student in accelerationclass program and student in excellent class program. This research is based on descriptive analysis andquestionnaire is used as tools with respect to data gathering purpose. Total sample is 123 students andcollected by using census technique. The collected data are then analyzed according to descriptiveanalysis scheme in form of percentage. Result shows that study problem encountered by both student inacceleration and excellent class are study behavior and habits. Elaboration of these problems forstudents in acceleration class leads to three main causes i.e. hard to maintain focus, lack of durabilityduring working on tasks and study. While for students in excellent class program are lacks of responseduring teaching process, incomplete of notes, and hard to understand the text book. Overall resultshows that students in excellent class program are encounter higher percentage of study problemscompare to students in acceleration class program. It can be concluded that students in excellent classprogram having more study problem compare to the studens in acceleration class program.

Abstract

Principals in performing their duties will receive supervision from supervisors,particularly in the managerial aspects, but its implementation is expected to be conflict, because noteveryone is able to work with a bunch of good, especially the organizational structure in which certainpeople are worth it or not placed there it would trigger conflict, high conflict How did that happen?How high intensity. This is the assessment in this study, namely to determine the level of conflictbetween the principal and superintendent with the level of intensity due to the conflict between thesuperintendent to the principal; relationship between the level of conflict with supervisors conflict; withthe principal, and superintendent for the differences in the level of conflict the principal factors gender,education level, and years of supervisor. This study classified descriptive study, carried out inaccordance with the stage of the research is to test instruments, data collection, and data analysis. Datacollection using the questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale, while data analysis is done using themethod with the help of SPSS Statistics version 17. The population of this research is all the schoolsuperintendent in the city of Pekanbaru as many as 96 people. Sampling using "proportionate stratifiedsampling", the stage of confidence of 5%, ie 74 people, most of the respondents used to testinstruments. Penyeberan questionnaires for the test conducted by the coordinator supervisor, namelythe 30 respondents. questionnaire of 52 items, 6 items declared them invalid and reabel. Data collectionwas conducted to 63 respondents, but only 85% were worthy of the sample, it can be said to be eligiblefor analysis. In accordance with the method of research used the hypothesis analyzed with descriptiveand inferential statistics. The result is the level of conflict by 54% or half of the maximum score, or inthe medium category, and the intensity of the conflict between the superintendent to the principal witha score of 90% of the maximum score. Hypothesis test results indicate that there is a positive andsignificant relationship between the level of conflict and the intensity of the conflict with 0.587correlation coefficient and the coefficient of determination (r2) 34%. Mean variance occurs in thevariable intensity of the conflict by 34% can be explained by the variance that occurs in variable levelsof conflict and 66% specified other factors. There is no difference in the level of conflict by gender,level of education and years of supervisor.
