Abstract

This research is aimed as follows: To get empirical data and analyze the effects of vocabulary mastery and logical thinking towards students’ listening skills at Junior High School in East Cirebon. This research is done by Kolmogorov-Smirnov method, ANOVA Table, Proportional Correct for testing the item difficulties, by a biserial coefficient, and by Kuder Richarsson testing. The research was held at Junior High School in East Cirebon. Data collective done by giving a test for listening skill (yes/no or true-false / 37 items), test for vocabulary mastery (Multiple choice/ 20 items), and test for logical thinking (multiple choice/20 items) given to the class at, SMP N 1 Ciledug, SMP N 1 Pabedilan, and SMP N 1 Losari. The result of the study identifies the effect of Vocabulary Mastery on Student’s Listening skills (coefficient of 0,745 and coefficient determination of 55,4%). The effect of logical thinking towards student’s listening skill (Sig = 0.031 and ttest = 2,183; while ttable = 1,98. There is an effect of vocabulary mastery and logical thinking on students’ listening skills (Sig = 0.000 and ttest = 4,757 while ttable = 1,98.).

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to obtain empirical data and analyze about whether or not there are the effects of grammar mastery and critical thinking on students’ speaking skill. The reseach was conducted at the state senior high school in Serang. The research method was survey with multiple-correlation technique. 80 students out of the state senior high school, grade X were chosen to be samples. Data collections include 1 questionnaire and 2 multiple-choice tests. The scale used for questionnaire was Likert Scale. The validity was calculated by using Person-Product Moment, and reliability obtained from Cronbach Alpha is 0.713. Research findings show three points. Firstly, there are significant effects of grammar mastery and critical thinking towards students’ speaking skill where multiple-correlation coefficient (R) is 0.696 in significance grade 5% ( = 0,05) further Fobserved is higher than Ftable (36.202 > 2.735). Secondly, there was a significant effect of grammar mastery and students’ speaking skill even though the effect is slightly weak where ry1 is 0.365, tobserved=3.725>ttable=1.994 with Sig score is lower than significance grade (0.000 < 0.05). Thirdly, there is a significant effect of critical thinking and students’ speaking skill where ry2 is 0.626, tobserved=7.242>ttable=1.994 with Sig score lower than the significance value (0.000 < 0.05).

Abstract

Garbage is waste material from household, commercial, industrial or other human activities. Waste generation is the volume of waste or the weight of waste generated from types of waste sources in a certain area per unit of time. The final destination of the waste is to be processed at the Final Processing Site (TPA). In Indramayu, the waste generation is quite large and can cause environmental pollution, so there is a need for good waste management. The purpose of this study is to determine the waste management system in TPA Indramayu, to determine the amount and average of waste, to determine the generation and volume of waste and to determine the levels of BOD, COD and effectiveness in the leachate treatment unit. From the results of observations, it was found that the average receipt of waste at TPA Indramayu was 177,451 tons/day. The waste generation is known to be 2.75 l/or/day and the resulting volume of waste that goes to the TPA is 777,284 m3/hr and the volume of waste per region is 0.003 m3/or/day. The incoming leachate comes from the landfill area and is then processed in the WWTP unit with 4 holding ponds to reduce BOD and COD levels. The initial BOD level entered was 500 mg/L and the incoming COD level was 4000 mg/L, after going through the leachate treatment the results obtained were BOD levels of 33.34 mg/L and COD levels of 266.66 mg/L with efficiency BOD and COD conversion of 93.33%.

Abstract

Textbooks can make students understand what their teacher is conveying. A good and understandable textbook will make it easier for students to comprehend what they are supposed to learn. However, at the University of Jambi, especially in the Civics Study Program, there are no entrepreneurship teaching materials supporting student learning activities in the classroom. Therefore, this research aims to discover the aspects of entrepreneurship course textbooks that need to be developed in improving hard skills as technical abilities and soft skills to support the hard skills. The results of this research only scope the validation test stage, namely the validation of material experts and media validation and language validation. Wherefrom the results of the validator show the feasibility of the textbook that was developed to be tested and implemented to students during the learning process in the Civics Study Program, University of Jambi.
