ABDIMAS ALTRUIS: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat diterbitkan dua kali setahun, yakni pada April dan Oktober, oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat, Universitas Sanata Dharma, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. ABDIMAS ALTRUIS menerbitkan artikel tentang pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Redaksi menerima kontribusi artikel dari semua pihak dengan senang hati. ABDIMAS ALTRUIS: Journal of Community Service is published twice a year, namely in April and October, by the Institute for Research and Community Service, Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. ABDIMAS ALTRUIS publishes articles on community service. The editors welcome article contributions from all parties.

<![CDATA[The limitations of science and students' awareness of reproductive health causes such students susceptible to various diseases caused by viruses, fungi, or bacteria. This program aims to provide education about "Reproductive Health for Students in Yaketunis Yogyakarta through the media “Pakem Braille", and examples of diseases that can be caused due to lack of maintaining health and hygiene of reproductive organs. The program is expected to increase interest in learning, especially science and awareness of students of MTs Yaketunis in maintaining reproductive health, producing the media "Pakem Braille" and learning modules, and also an article publication. The method used in educational activities consisted of a lecture with and without the media "Pakem Braille", where the media will be used as props in the educational process. Overall the students' understanding regarding the material of reproductive health in humans increased by 77.78%. Students’ interest also increased, it is seen from the increase in the number of questions asked by students amounted to 61.11%. Knowledge and awareness of reproductive health-related students increased to 73% and the result obtained was 55.6% of students categorized as having sufficient awareness and 38.9% of students considered to have good awareness of the importance of maintaining reproductive health.]]>

<![CDATA[The present paper is a report of two activities of community service on developing students literacy at Sarikarya Elementary School in Yogyakarta on 20 October 2017 and 11 May 2018. The activities sprout from the result of the research conducted in the same school in August 2017 to find out to what extent the children from class 1 to class 6 make progress in their writing of a descriptive text. By using the result of our research as the basic material for our community service, we had a discussion with the teachers so that they would be more aware of the literacy competence of their students, and by so doing they could help their students develop their students literacy in writing. This community service also aims to discuss with teachers what kind of activities could be carried out in class to support the development.]]>

<![CDATA[This empowerment is a dedication to the people of Mlatiharjo Village, Patean District, Kendal Regency as a form of the Partner Village Development Program. This empowerment aims to a) provide solutions to the problems of the community in the form of the abundant spice coffee garden with a distinctive aroma of herbs with a holistic approach to multi-disciplinary research; b) empowering typical spices of coffee beans to become spice coffee powder with high selling value; c) provide the potential strengthening of the Mlatiharjo Village community through the application of research results in the form of making various spices; and d) forming a guided village as the Aneka Aroma Spice Coffee Sentra Village as one of the science-techno-park models of Semarang PGRI University. The method in implementing the Village Partner Development Program is by collaborating between three parties to resolve partner problems, namely Semarang PGRI University, Dikti's DRPM and Kendal District Government. The results of empowerment activities are processing coffee spices to become high-value coffee grounds, granting coffee processing equipment, P-IRT permits for coffee powder products produced, business licenses in the form of coffee shops and coffee cafes in the area and outside Kendal City, articles scientific and scientific publications. Conclusions of empowerment activities carried out in Mlatiharjo Village were successful, without any constraints and it was hoped that processing of spice coffee beans could become Mlatiharjo Village as a Spice Coffee Sentra Village and improve the economy of the Mlatiharjo Village community.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this training was to facilitate elementary school teachers in Sanjaya Elementary School Tritis, Pakem so that they were able to provide learning media for Natural and Social Sciences. The learning media was a set of equipment that could be used as learning media to help teachers deliver lessons to the students so that students were motivated to learn. Media that could be used should be helpful for the students to understand the concept of learning, be suitable with the characteristics of the students, and facilitate the students to obtain the learning objectives, as well as appropriate with the learning condition, facilities and time availability. This training was directed in such a way that the teachers in that school became creative in utilizing objects around them to teach Natural and Social Sciences. Games were also used to teach Mathematics.]]>

<![CDATA[Kindergarten is an educational institution which plays an important role in building cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills of pupils. Indriyasana Kindergarten Babadan is a school that uses educational game stuff as one of the learning media. It is required to continually maintain this educational game stuff including its storage in order to enhance this learning method. However, there is a problem faced by Indriyasana Kindergarten Babadan that is the school does not have cupboards to keep its educational game stuff. This community service program implements ergonomic scientific/field to design a cupboard to keep educational game stuff based on anthropometry of teachers in Indriyasana Kindergarten Babadan. The result of this program was to design three kinds of cupboards. They were cupboards with two sledding doors, cupboards with one hinge door, and cupboards without doors.]]>

<![CDATA[Cooperatives are one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy aimed at promoting the welfare of members and society. The dominant forms of cooperatives in Surakarta City are the Savings and Loans cooperative (KSP) and the Savings and Loans Unit (USP) whose activities are similar to Rural Banks, but in practice it turns out that they lack the precautionary principle and risk management. The scope of KSP / USP is very limited because it can only accept deposits or provide loans to members / prospective members. The implementation of this service is in the form of risk management training so that KSP / USP management can increase knowledge about the importance of the precautionary principle in its management. Implementation method of service through training for 2 (two) days in collaboration with the PPUPIK-PPKU Semarang University and the Surakarta City Cooperatives SMEs Office. The result of dedication is the increase in understanding and ability of the management in managing the risk of deposit and lending activities, for example in calculating and converting interest rates, as well as in establishing reserves for uncollectible loans, analyzing and binding credit agreements.]]>

<![CDATA[In producing briquettes, the industry has problems in drying its briquettes. During this time briquette drying always involves solar energy. Drying with solar energy has weaknesses, namely (a) the ability to dry briquettes for a long time, cannot be accelerated (b) in the rainy season, solar energy is difficult to rely on, so the production capacity of briquettes per day decreases (c) to produce briquettes with large capacity, requiring a lot of raw material availability. These three weaknesses can be overcome if the briquette drying is done by using an electric energy briquette dryer. By using electric energy drying, the development of the briquette industry can be easily carried out. The purpose of this service implementation is to assist the human resources (HR) of the two briquette industry partners to increase, have complete knowledge of the electric energy briquette drying machine and use briquette drying machines to develop the industry. The results of the implementation of this service are (a) both partners know the briquette drying machine well and have the ability to make and function the electric energy briquette dryer (b) the two partners have a clear understanding to increase the briquette production capacity and determine all requirements and steps must be done to achieve production capacity as desired.]]>

<![CDATA[Sexual education is importantly needed in giving students adequate knowledge on how important it is to take care of their reproductive organs and to raise an understanding of moral values about sexuality problems. In the other hand, as a fact, teachers and parents often give abstract explanation when children ask about sexuality. Based on the data from Komnas Perlindungan Anak, the fact shows that in January to June 2013, there were 1.032 violence cases done to children. These cases were divided into two: 294 physical violence cases and 241 psychological violence cases. The aim of this social service program was to conduct a practice of sexual education counseling for students in SD Kanisius Sengkan. The sexual education counseling process was done through Ignatian Pedagogy Paradigm (reflective) learning process. The results from the sexual education counseling done to students in SD Kanisius Sengkan showed that 69% of male and female students understood the sexual education given and knew how to take care of their body, 100% of male students and 94% of female students were able to take care of their body after they were given the sexual education counseling, 69% of male students and 80% of female students got the benefit from the sexual education counseling conducted.]]>

<![CDATA[Modern information systems can be used to optimize and streamline business processes that exist in a company or organization. By using a well-designed information system, many benefits can be obtained by a company or organization. The information system began to be applied to the community line, and has even been widely used as a media link between the regional government to the central government and the related community. This service is an application of the information system design that was previously made by the proposal team, used as a media complaint by the community to the government department in the Somagede Village area, Banyumas Regency, which utilized the basis of a website application or known as cloud application, which was more effective and efficient compared to conventional community based complaints systems using paper format. The community can provide criticisms, suggestions, or information about the environment surrounding the officials of the Village of Somagede using an internet connection so they can access this complaint information system. This information system is designed to make it easier for Somagede District officials to process aspirations and complaints from the community.]]>

<![CDATA[Waste management can be an economic value activity. Waste that is considered useless can be recycled into products that have economic values. Garbage Bank Rukun Santoso is a community empowerment activity in Klaten Regency that has attempted to use waste to be processed into creative products. At this time, the Rukun Santoso Garbage Bank has used plastic waste to be processed into creative products that have improved the economy of the local people, especially from the income of women. This type of paper waste is currently not utilized to be processed into creative products. This community service activity is intended to provide training in the creation of creative products made from paper waste, so that it can be used by the Rukun Santoso community to supplement family income.]]>
