CJSI is a scientific journal of Islamic studies managed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, Indonesia. This journal is issued twice a year and it is a tool for Indonesian researchers, academics, and practitioners who are interested to channel their thoughts and findings. This journal should cover Islam both as a textual tradition with its own historical integrity and as a social reality which was dynamic and constantly changing. However, with the higher interest in the research of Islamic studies, since 2021, the journal open the widest possible access for overseas researchers to contribute and share their findings. CJSI invite researchers to contribute ideas on the main scope of Islamic Law; Islamic Economics and Business; Zakah, Waqf, and Islamic Social Finance; Quranic and Hadith Studies; Islamic Philosophy; Islamic Thought and Literature; Islam and Peace; Science and Civilization in Islam; Islam in Local; and Islam and Gender.

Keluarga Sakinah dalam Perspektif Ulama Tafsir: Studi Terhadap Rumah Tangga Nabi Adam Agus Miswanto

The large number of divorces that occur in Indonesia is due to the failure of the establishment of a Sakinah family so that it is a very fundamental case in Islamic law. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to reveal the values of the sakinah family placed by the Prophet Adam and Eve. This study uses a descriptive literature study using content analysis methods and comparative approaches. QS. Al-Baqarah verses 35-37 become the main object with the focus of the study on four interpretations, namely al-Baghawi, Ibn Kathir, al-Alusi, and al-Maraghi. This research found that 1) family life is a nature from the time of Azali; 2) sakinah family can be realized with equality in a love relationship, fulfillment of basic household needs, obedience to sharia rules; 3) sakinah life can be damaged due to violations of Sharia rules and third party intervention; and 4) the destruction of sakinah life can be fixed with each party having an awareness of the mistakes that have been made and then repenting to Allah SWT

This study aims to elaborate on the differences in the views of the Islamization of science between Syed Naquib Al-Attas and Bassam Tibi. The study uses a literature review from relevant sources. Al-Attas's thought is based on his concern for the doctrine that scientific terminology is identical to western civilization. Al-Attas carried out the movement of modernization and Islamization, this is a concrete effort in the human's liberation from the shackles of secular understanding confined in magical and mythological traditions that are contrary to Islam. However, Bassam Tibi rejects this opinion. Bassam Tibi opposes the Islamization because it is a form of indigenization which is related to the cultural strategy of Islamic fundamentalism, integrally. Islamization is considered as a reaffirmation of local knowledge to face global knowledge and cultural invasion

The Book of Parukunan is a book that is very popular among Malay people. The study is aimed to find out the writing setting of the jurisprudence book of Parukunan Melayu Besar, Hajj chapter by Haji Abdurrasyud Banjar. The author will discuss the Historical setting using the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework with a qualitative descriptive approach. The results showed that in the year of writing the Book, the Industrial Revolution was taking place where there were massive changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology and had a profound impact on social, economic, and cultural conditions. The existence of agrarian reforms that resulted in private investment flowing into the Dutch East Indies making trade easier. Furthermore, there are developments in the export-import market so that many ships come to Banjarmasin making it easier for pilgrimage journeys. Other than that, the number of office and warehouse developments indicate an improved economic condition so that people who are economically capable can make the pilgrimage easily

Perspektif Peneliti Outsider Terhadap Perilaku Keagamaan Masyarakat Muslim (Kajian pada Pemikiran Frederick M. Denny) Fahri Hidayat

This study examines the approach used by Frederick M. Denny who is an outsider researcher about the religious behavior of Muslim communities. The method used is the library method. Meanwhile, the primary source used as a data source is the writing of F. M. Denny's in Richard C. Martin's anthology book. This study found that the approach used by Frederick. M. Denny in understanding the religious behavior of Muslim societies is a sociological approach by distinguishing rituals in Islam into two, namely official and popular rituals. Through this approach, Denny concluded that outside of official worship, in Islam there were also additional rituals performed by Muslim communities. The difference is that these additional rituals are local and vary by region

This study aims to find out how the mechanism, impact, supporting factors, and obstacles in implementing the community empowerment based on productive zakat in 1000 MSME’s programs. This research is field research using a descriptive qualitative approach. The subject of this research was Lazismu management and the mustahik. This study found that the 1000 MSME’s program was instrumental in helping MSME’s who had difficulty in developing their businesses. The assistance process is important in the success of the empowerment program. The impact of this program is an increase in business results, family income, abilities, knowledge, and skills as well as increased religious knowledge. Supporting factors for this program include the collaboration with Aisiyah institutions to provide assistance to the mustahik. While the constraints faced are not yet optimal implementation of SOPs and the lack of reporting and documentation of 1000 MSME programs

This study aims to empirically prove the influence of zakat reporting, ICSR, sharia supervisory board and leverage on company performance at Islamic Commercial Banks with an observation period of 2016-2018. The sample in this study is 11 BUS with purposive sampling. Data analysis uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that the zakat reporting and sharia supervisory board have a significant effect on BUS performance, while ICSR and leverage have no significant effect on performance

There are two scientific models developed in the Muslim world: the first is classical and very textual, so it is less relevant to the needs of the people. Second, those who adopt Western sciences, which are seen as relevant to current reality. The fact of these two scientific models then gave birth to what is called the dichotomy of science. This study is aimed to provide a new discourse about the epistemology of Ilahiyah science as an alternative education that has been based on philosophy and has not been able to solve the problem of the Ummah. This research is library research with the Heurmeneutic approach. The results show that Ilahiyah science is a science that brings fear of God, paying more attention to substance than matter and prioritize of taufiq in the process of seeking knowledge

Veysel Bozkurt's research proved that Protestant ethics, which consists of work ethic and asceticism did not just occur to Protestant Christians. However, it also occurred in Turkish and Kyrgyz communities where the majority of the population is Muslim. Researcher reinforce Veysel Bozkurt's theory by revealing the work ethic and asceticism in the Qur'an with a thematic commentary approach. This research found that the Qur'an teaches four work ethics and two attitudes of asceticism. The four-work ethics are that work is obligatory, work must be optimal beyond basic needs, work is jihad, and work must be based on the principle of goodness. While the two attitudes of asceticism are strong spiritual and managing wealth wisely

Struktur Modal dan Pembiayaan BPRS di Indonesia Multazam Mansyur Addury

The development of BPRS is expected to contribute to the market share of Islamic banking in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the impact of capital structure on the BPRS financing. The object of this research is 164 BPRS in Indonesia, with a range of annual data from 2010 to 2017. The dependent variable is debt and equity-based financing (DEBF). The independent variable is measured using a debt to asset ratio (DAR) and debt to equity ratio (DER). In addition, this study also uses three control variables namely size, GDP growth rate, and provincial inflation. The data analysis technique used is panel data regression. The results show that the capital structure by DAR consistently had a positive and significant effect on the BPRS financing. Moreover, the capital structure by DER does not have a significant effect on the BPRS financing

Zakat is an Islamic teaching that aims to realize the welfare of society. Islam wants and hopes for an equitable distribution of income, so wealth does not only revolve around a particular group. Indonesia as the largest Muslim majority country in the world has serious attention to the management of zakat funds. This is evidenced by the enactment of Regulation No. 23 of 2011 on the management of zakat. The purpose of this paper is to determine the nature and substance of the regulation. This research with a philosophical approach that is by explaining the nature and wisdom of the formal object. The result shows that the essence of this rule is none other than to accommodate the Muzakki and Mustahiq for the welfare of society
