Abstract

This research aims to describe the results of scientific study related to efforts to prevent the desacralization of temples as tourist destinations. This is based on the fact that there are many temples that have an attraction to be visited by domestic and foreign tourists. On the one hand, the adoption of temples as tourist destinations provides many advantages, especially from an economic perspective. However, irresponsible actions often occur by tourism actors, both managers and tourists themselves. Various cases of temple abuse occurred in Bali which indicated that there was an error in the management of temple tourist destinations. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection in the form of literature review and technical analysis through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results obtained from this study, that there are several temples in Lombok which are tourist destinations because they are unique in terms of history, place, and shape. The existence of the temple as a tourist destination has challenges in the the ethics of entering the temple which spiritually will affect the level of sanctity (sacred) of the temple. To anticipate this, it is necessary to revitalize the teachings of Hindu religious education to all tourism actors through the concepts of Tri Hita Karana, Tri Kaya Parisudha and Catur Paramita.Keyword: desacralization, temple, tourist destinations, Hindu religious education.

Abstract

Learning English, especially in the tourism study program, is very important to emphasize. However, the process of learning English in fact still faces various obstacles. One of the obstacles that are often faced in the process of learning English is that lecturers tend to apply a one-way learning process from lecturer to student using the lecture method. For this reason, it is necessary to further analyze the model or learning approach that is more possible and has the potential to effectively assist students in the English learning process. One model of English learning that has the potential to effectively help students in tourism study programs is to apply a project-based learning model. Therefore, the present study utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach using library research methods aiming at analyzing the concept of project-based learning to be implemented in English learning environments in tourism study programs.  This library research approach, according to Lin (2009) involves reading and categorizing materials to solve a problem. Thus, from the result of the study it was found that the use of project-based learning in learning English in the tourism study program is assumed to be able to help students prepare for the future well in terms of English skills and at the same time help lecturers to prepare a more meaningful English learning process.

Abstract

The development of tourism and the hotel industry has implications for commodification. Basically, commodification is something that is modified so that it becomes of commodity value. One of these phenomena can be seen in the commodification of Balian's roles and functions at the Fivelements Hotel, which is located in Mambal Village, Abiansemal sub-district, Badung Regency. Balian is actually historically a profession that uses spiritual power to heal someone's illness. For the Balinese people, the Balinese profession is something magical, not just anyone can do it, and has high spirituality. Balian's profession and services are then used by Fivelements hotel to become one of the most iconic attractions. Fivelements Hotel, which is located at Mambal Village, Abiansemal District, Badung Regency, offers Balian services to its guests as healers or spiritual therapists. This phenomenon makes it something that is anti-mainstream and has essentially proven the commodification of its role. Moving on from this, this research analyzes the problem covering three things, namely; 1) the factors causing the commodification of the Balian role, 2) the forms of commodification of the Balian role as a spiritual therapist, and 3) the implications of the commodification of the Balian role as a spiritual therapist at Fivelements Hotel.Keyword : Balian, commodification, therapist, spiritual
