Abstract

Dol is a traditional Bengkulu musical instrument resembling a bedug, which is played by striking using a wooden bat with a cloth-covered end. The Dol instrument is tubular with a slightly oblong bottom and has a single membrane as the sound source at the top. The body is painted in bright hues like red, green, and yellow to make it more appealing. Its distinctive form inspired the development of textile products in the form of makeup bags. Ornamentation of works using the batik techniques. The process used to create this artwork involves three stages: exploration, seeking sources of knowledge on dol musical instruments; design, which entails creating drawings for the work; embodiment, which consists of the writing batik technique and stitching the bag. The five pieces of original artwork and two pieces of designed artwork are combined to form a makeup bag. Each work is titled according to the type of rhythm in playing dol namely Suwena 1, Suwena 2, Suwari 1, Suwari 2, Suwari 3, Tamatam 1, and Tamatam 2.

Abstract

The plant of onion bulbs frequently utilizes as spices for food. Visually the shape is circular,This fascination with the form of onion bulbs and their function served as the basis for works as an original motif on Malay kebaya utilizing the batik writing technique. The three steps of the creative process are exploration, design, and embodiment. The exploration stage begins with collecting information from sources relevant to the work that will develop.  The design stage carries out by producing alternate sketches, creating designs with the onion bulb motif, and settling on a chosen design. The use of the batik writing technique combined with the embroidery technique is to carry out the process of achieving the design of the work. The work uses a silk cotton fabric as a material that is dyed with remazol. Umbi bawang merah merupakan tanaman yang biasa digunakan dalam bumbu masakan. Secara visual bentuknya bulat cenderung oval, Ketertarikan terhadap bentuk umbi bawang merah dan kegunaannya menjadi dasar penciptaan karya sebagai kreasi bentuk motif pada kebaya melayu Riau menggunakan teknik batik tulis. Proses penciptaan terdiri dari tiga tahap yang meliputi eksplorasi, perancangan, dan perwujudan. Tahapan eksplorasi dimulai dengan mengumpulkan data dari sumber-sumber yang berkaitan dengan penciptaan karya yang akan dibuat. Tahap perancangan dilakukan melalui pembuatan sketsa alternatif, membuat kreasi bentuk motif umbi bawang merah, dan menetapkan desain terpilih. Proses perwujudan rancangan karya dilakukan dengan teknik batik tulis yang dipadukan dengan sulam. Media yang digunakan berupa kain katun sutera dengan pewarnaan remazol.

Abstract

Studi ini dilatar belakangi selaku proses pemanfaatan daun jarak pagar untuk membuat motif tekstil dengan teknik pewarnaan eco print yang ramah lingkungan. Studi ini bertujun mendeskripsikan arah warna motif daun pengaruh mordan jeruk nipis dan jeruk purut terhadap hasil pewarnaan eco print bahan katun memanfaatkan daun jarak pagar (Jatropha Curcas). Jenis studi ini yakni studi Eksperimen. Jenis data yakni data primer bersumber dari 18 orang panelis yang sudah melakukan tes buta warna. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa angket atau kuesioner yang disusun secara Skala Bertingkat (Reting Scale). Hasil pewarnaan eco print dengan mordan jeruk nipis menghasilkan arah warna olive dengan kode #A59876, mordan jeruk purut menghasilkan arah warna muddy waters brown dengan kode #937D48, untuk memperoleh arah warna tersebut diuji menggunakan Colorblind Assistand.
