Abstract

One of the recoverable coastal resources that can make a high contribution to the coastal environment and to coastal communities is the seagrass ecosystem. Seagrass is a flowering aquatic plant that has the ability to adapt to live in the marine environment. Seagrass has many functions, such as a nursery ground, a feeding ground and a spawning ground for fish and other biota that have high economic value. Various threats to the sustainability of the seagrass ecosystem in Indonesia continue to increase year after year. Commonly used seagrass transplant methods include the plug, sprig, tie sack and frame method. Kawaroe et al., (2008) stated that the method that produced the highest seagrass yield was the plug method. Likewise, Lanuru et al., 2013 found that the plug method resulted in a better survival rate compared to the staple and frame method. The success of a transplant method is also largely determined by the characteristics of the substrate at the transplant site. According to Lanuru (2011), the sediment characteristics consisting of fine, muddy sand are better than coarse sand and less muddy as a substrate for Enhalus acoroides seagrass transplantation.

Abstract

Increased activity in the industrial sector can increase the production of solid, liquid and gas waste. Industrial waste that is indicated by heavy metals can reduce environmental quality. Heavy metal pollution can occur in soil and waters which will disturb the ecosystem in it. Heavy metals not only have a negative impact on the environment but also on the health of the human body. There have been many chemical and physical techniques for dealing with heavy metals, but they are still not effective because these techniques are considered to increase the level of pollution and require a large amount of money. Therefore, the remediation technique using hyperaccumulator plants is one of the solutions in efforts to resolve heavy metals polluted in a soil and waters. Vetiveria zizanioides, Sansevieria trifasciata, Eichhornia crassipes are hyperaccumulator plants of capable absorbing and accumulating heavy metals by phytoextraction, phytodegradation and rhizofiltration mechanism.

Abstract

Tukad Yeh Poh is categorized as a sub-river basin unit which plays an important role for the irrigation purposes and daily life support for the surrounding areas. The water quality along the river is analyzed using Pollution Index (PI) method to compare nine parameters with the standard value class II, including seven chemical parameters (DO, COD, BOD, Pb, PO4, NO2, NO3, oil and fat) and microbiological parameter (Coliform) throughout three sampling points to represent the upstream, downstream and middle point. The measurement is following the administration area of Badung Regency during the dry season that is represented by June 2019. There are five chemical parameters showing a larger concentration compared to the standard value. Moreover, the PI calculation suggested that the upstream and middle point should be categorized as lightly polluted, while the downstream region labelled as moderately polluted.

Abstract

Medewi Beach is one of the beaches in Jembrana Regency. Medewi beach is being developed marine tourism spots, but its have more problem with the increasing tourism activity and followed by activities of residents and settlements that disturb the environment, especially an increasing domestic waste to the coastal. So it’s has an impact decreasing the waters quality. This paper reports the examination to determine Medewi beach water quality for physics, chemical and biology parameters. Water sampling was taken during the rainy season and dry season. The results of the water sample measurements were compared to the environmental quality standards and standard criteria of environmental damage by Bali Governor Regulation No. 16 in 2016 and water quality classification by the Storet Method which refers to KEPMENLH No.115 of 2003. The results showed of some parameters whose values exceeded the standart. Those parameters were in the rainy season were Pb, Nitrate, Coliform and E coli and the dry season were Pb and Coliform that exceeded the standard. The STORET assessment results of Medewi beach has a total score of -42 which is classified as heavily polluted and that’s less suitable for marine tourism.

Abstract

The Ukian River is one of the rivers flowing in the village of Mengwi which receives waste from agriculture, agriculture and domestic. A decrease in water quality is usually indicated by a change in water color and odor. This study aims to analyze the quality of river water in Ukian based on the quality standards of class II river water quality according to the Regulation of the Governor of Bali Number 16 of 2016 concerning environmental quality standards and standards for environmental damage standards. River water quality measurements were taken at 3 sampling locations. The parameters measured are BOD, COD, Lead (Pb) and Coliform. The results of research on the quality of river water in Ukian found that BOD from upstream to middle increased by 0.981 mg/l and decreased BOD levels by 0.101 mg/l from middle to downstream. From upstream to middle, COD levels increased by 1 mg/l and COD levels decreased by 3.717 mg/l from middle to downstream. Levels of lead (Pb) from upstream to middle increased by 0.345 mg/l and decreased levels of lead (Pb) by 0.345 mg/l from middle to downstream. Coliform levels from upstream to downstream were 11,000 mg/l.

Abstract

Bali island as one of the best tourism destinations in the world is producing waste around 4.281 ton/day, including the temple waste. Every month, over 3 million Balinese Hindus carry out ceremonies. At the end of the day, each temple produces about 2000 L of temple waste, which is directly disposed to landfill without any treatment due to the insufficiency of waste processing facilities. The treatment of temple waste potentially such as water sanitation, waste accumulation, pollution, and human health. This study describes the characteristic of temple waste generated from home and the efforts of temple waste recycling initiatives. The temple waste is generally composed by 80% of organic material, such as flowers, leaves, fruit and food waste, coconut, bamboo, and in other side the plastic does exist. Some initiatives in recycling the temple waste were done in the previous research, such as aromatherapeutic incense from discarded flowers, generating vermicompost by mixing the discarded flowers with cow dung, and producing biofuel from marigold flowers. A recycling improvement is urgently needed by the existing temple waste in Bali. It is expected that Balinese Temple as the cultural icon of Bali would not be longer become the waste contributor to the landfill.

Abstract

Tukad Nyuling is a watershed with a watershed area of 7,436 ha (BPDAS Undaanyar) and a length of 13 km, flowing year-round generally flowing to the south. Period I monitoring of BOD and detergent parameters in the upstream, middle and downstream of Tukad Nyuling has exceeded the class II water quality standard. Parametar total coliform in the downstream Tukad Nyuling condition has exceeded the standard of grade II water quality, with a concentration of 7,000/100 ml. COD parameters in the middle of Tukad Nyuling conditions that have exceeded the standard of class II water quality, where COD concentration reaches 31.10 mg/L. Monitoring period II BOD parameters in the upstream, middle and downstream Tukad Nyuling has exceeded the standard water quality class II, BOD concentration ranges from 5.28 mg/L to 5.79 mg/L. Concentrated detergent in the middle and downstream Tukad Nyuling has exceeded the standard of class II water quality, the concentration of detergent in the middle reaches 16.21 mg/L while in the downstream reaches 18.46 mg / L. Based on the status of water quality with the method of index pollutant upstream has a mild pollutant status while the middle and downstream have a moderate pollutant status.

Abstract

Predictions for ten years of methane gas emissions in research are conducted on wastewater. To predict the emissions of methane gas ten years first calculated the level of methane gas emissions. Then made predictions to know the emissions of methane gas produced by domestic wastewater for the last ten years. This domestic wastewater from rusunawa. The calculation of methane gas emissions is carried out with reference to the method developed by IPCC 2006. Based on calculations, household wastewater generates methane gas emissions in 2007 of 5648.75 kgCH4 / year or 8610.91 m3 / year and continues to increase each year. The methane emission prediction result yields the equation y = 1538x2 + 5836x + 16610 to predict methane gas emissions over the next ten years. While the conversion of electrical energy in 2007 amounted to 770.90 kWh and increased every year along with the increase in methane gas emissions. The prediction result of electrical energy yields the equation y = 137,7x2 + 522x + 1487 to predict electric energy ten years ahead.

Abstract

The very high land degradation has resulted in the Denpasar City Government designing the establishment of the Sustainable Subak Area through a green line regulation in order to realize sustainable food agricultural land. In the context of optimizing the narrow agricultural land in urban areas, technological innovation is carried out from only rice farming to fish rice agricullture. The purpose of this study was to analyze the increase in rice farming income after the development of rice minarets and to synthesize efforts to conserve sustainable agriculture in an effective integrated fice rice agriculture. The method of analysis in this study was carried out quantitatively, namely feasibility analysis and qualitatively through qualitative descriptive. The results showed that fish rice farming has a higher level of feasibility when compared to the previous rice farming business. The net income of fish rice business is Rp. 7,165,250,- (35.29%), with an R/C ratio of 2.97. Sustainable conservation efforts in fish rice integrated agriculture are carried out through land improvement management, increasing added value, and strengthening institutional cooperation.

Abstract

The objectives of tourism development are to introduce, utilize, protect and improve the quality and attractiveness of tourism, maintain Balinese environmental protection norms, religious values, culture and natural life, prevent negative impacts caused by tourism activities, and improve the welfare of the community. The tourist attraction of the Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi is a sacred area located in the Banjar Penaka, Tampaksiring District, in Gianyar Regency. The results of preliminary observations on geological traces in both places show the unique formation, stratigraphy, and rock-forming minerals to be revealed either from the volcanic activity of Mount Batur and also influenced by tectonic activity that had taken place at that time. The results of this study indicate that the rock stratigraphy at the Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi tourist attraction belongs to the principle of lateral sustainability. The role of geotourism looks very significant in revealing the role of geology in tourism development, especially in the Pura Gunung Kawi. Local wisdom that is used is to prohibit tourists who are on their period from entering tourism sites, and conducting searches with the aim of cleaning the temple in a nocturnal manner which is carried out every piodalan, puja wali or caru manca kelud every 10 years.
