Abstract

The average height of the Indonesians population has increased a few centimeters for the last 50 years, although Indonesians are short. However, a secular trend in height was still unclear. Currently, the Indonesians adult population is averagely shorter than the modern World Health Organization (WHO) reference males and females. Thus, when comparing the height of Indonesian children with several growth measurements, a significant portion of the children is below the critical limit. This review aimed to discuss the correlation between deficiency vitamin D and low body height

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease with hyperglycemia because of abnormalities of insulin. Prevalence of DM increases from year to year and is predicted by 2030 to increase to 366 million. One of the efforts that can be done to reduce the high number of patients with DM is a group of calories counseling to solve the diet problems so that they can control the blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of calorie counseling on increasing knowledge, attitude, and behavior of patient dietary with DM in Semanding, Puskesmas Dau, Kabupaten Malang. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental design, a non-randomized pre-posttest control group. The samples were selected into two groups, that is the "intervention" group (n=20), and the "control" group (n=20). The method of data analysis used an independent t-test. The results showed a relationship between the calories counseling and the knowledge of dietary with p-value = 0,000, a relationship between the calories counseling and the behavior of dietary with p-value = 0,152. The research concluded that calories counseling increases the knowledge and behavior of dietary to patient DM in Semanding Dau, Kabupaten Malang.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in Asia-Pacific, although highly preventable, CVD was the cause of an estimated 9.4 million deaths. It accounted for one-third of all deaths in 2016. Hypertension is one of cardiovascular disease risk factors. Early detection of cardiovascular disease is the main issues to reduce the prevalence of the cardiovascular disease. Adolescence was the population in which the modifiable cardiovascular risk factor firstly developed. In the year 2018, Indonesian Health Ministry discovered that the prevalence of the cardiovascular disease in East Java was 0.2 % higher than national prevalence and Malang as one of the biggest cities in East Java with high population growth, hence early detection of cardiovascular disease become highlight issue. This cross-sectional survey was held in September 2019 at SMPN 5 Malang, which participated by 123 students (75 females and 48 males). Bivariate analysis was done to examine the correlation between each variable, and logistic regression was done to the most influential variable. Seventy-eight per cent of students were sedentary lifestyle with physical activities < 300 minutes/week, 16.2 % of students were an active smoker, and all were male. Among 123 students, 0.8 % with no cardiovascular risk factor, 29.2 % had 1 risk factor, 30.8 % had 2 risk factors, 27.6 % had 3 risk factors, and 11.3 % had 4 risk factors. The most prevalent risk factors were sedentary life (80 %), increase waist circumference (50 %), passive smoker  (48.5 %), overweight & obesity (15 %), and active smoker (14,6 %). Waist circumference above normal was more prevalent in female (65 %) than male (31%). Hypertension had been found in 14.6 % of students and had a significant correlation with heart rate (p 0.011)

Abstract

In 2016, Indonesia has been launching the “Indonesia Sehat'' program which the strategy used is to strengthen health services through a family approach. According to the 2016 Ministry of Health technical guidelines, the larva inspector, also known as Juru Pemantau Jentik (Jumantik), is involved in Jumantik participating by each family. Their role is the same as 3M plus actions including in the inspection, monitoring, and eradication of mosquito larvae for controlling infectious diseases, especially Dengue Fever. The purpose of these activities was to increase community participation to conduct a “one house one Jumantik'' program. The study was the quasi-experimental post-test only design that was located in Karangbesuki sub-district, Malang City from August until September 2017. One cluster Rukun Warga (RW) from the Karangbesuki sub-district that consisted of 9 Rukun Tetangga (RT) was chosen as the location. The intervention was in collaboration with Mulyorejo Public Health Center (Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat / Puskesmas) in Malang. The methods used were ovitrap utilization training and focus group discussion (FGD), health promotion and "one-house one-Jumantik'' training program, also the contest to choose the best RT. The results of this activity succeeded in establishing a Jumantik team in each RT although there was one RT that has not yet succeeded in forming a team. Furthermore, for the sustainability of the program, it is hoped that this program could be improved by collaborating with Mulyorejo Puskesmas staff who monitor activities routinely through the integrated service post (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu / Posyandu).

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on all aspects of life, including the implementation of learning activities that are changed from face-to-face to distance learning. Distance learning requires student independence which needs to be encouraged by a high motivation to achieve learning success. Parents as a substitute for teachers at home are expected to provide optimal support so that adolescents have high motivation to learn while participating in learning activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental support and learning motivation in adolescents during the pandemic period at SMPN 2 Pule Trenggalek. This was an observational study using a cross-sectional design. Respondents in this study are students of SMPN 2 Pule Trenggalek Class VIII and IX, totaling 142 students, who are selected based on simple random sampling techniques. This study uses an online questionnaire about parental support and student motivation during the pandemic as a means of collecting data. The results showed the majority of parental support was in the high category (95.8 %), and the respondents learned motivation was in the medium category (54.2%). The results of data analysis using the Spearman rank obtained a correlation value of 0.361 with a p-value of 0.000 so that Ho was rejected (<0.05). The study concludes that there is a relationship between parental support and learning motivation in adolescents during distance learning in the pandemic period at SMPN 2 Pule Trenggalek. Further research can be carried out related to parental support provided to adolescents during the pandemic with parents as respondents so that the data obtained will be comprehensive.

Abstract

Hospital is one of the institutions that use a considerable amount of energy and contribute the largest amount of waste. In order to reduce its impact, initiatives have emerged in the form of green hospitals for the effective use of resources. Although there are standard criteria for each country in applying environmentally friendly buildings in each country, there is still no internationally referenced certification. This study intends to compare the implementation of green hospitals in various hospitals in Indonesia. The comparisons will be taken from the elements of a green hospital, namely energy efficiency, green building design, alternative energy generation, transportation, food, water, and the availability of green open space. This research type is a literature review, with data taken from an online database. The online databases used are Science Direct and Google Scholar. The criteria used are elements of the implementation of green hospitals in Indonesia, and must mention the name of the hospital or the area where the research was carried out. There were 12 studies that matched the inclusion criteria. It can be seen that there are various efforts by hospitals in Indonesia in implementing green hospitals. However, there is unpreparedness in the application of all of its elements, especially in the transportation and food elements.
