Abstract

The main aim of this classroom action research is divided into three parts: 1) Executing the Differentiated approach of Problem Based Learning to enhance the interest in studying Sociology pertaining to Social Issues arising from Social Grouping among Class XI-7 students, Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2022/2023. 2) Utilizing the Differentiated method of Problem Based Learning to elevate the academic achievements in Sociology concerning Social Issues resulting from Social Grouping among Class XI-7 students, Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2022/2023. 3) Applying the Differentiated model of Problem Based Learning to amplify both the enthusiasm and academic achievements in Sociology regarding Social Issues caused by Social Grouping among Class XI-7 students, Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2022/2023. The research subjects encompass the students of Class XI-7 at Batik 1 Surakarta High School during the academic year 2022/2023, encompassing a total of 38 students, comprising 18 males and 20 females. The research methodology involves three data collection techniques: (i) Documenting to compile data on initial interest and academic outcomes; (ii) Observing to monitor interest in learning throughout cycle 1 and cycle 2; (iii) Employing written tests to gauge academic outcomes in cycle 1 and cycle 2. Data is collected through a variety of tools, including documents, observation sheets, and written test items. Validation of interest in learning is conducted through the observations of an external observer, while validation of academic outcomes is achieved by developing a written test framework. The employed data analysis technique entails a comparative descriptive analysis, followed by a phase of introspection. The findings of this study reveal that: 1) The implementation of the Differentiated approach of Problem Based Learning effectively boosts interest in studying Sociology to 58.77%. 2) The application of the identical teaching approach similarly contributes to enhancing academic achievements in Sociology to 28.06%. 3) The fusion of applying the teaching model along with utilizing the Differentiated Problem Based Learning strategy leads to a rise in both enthusiasm and academic achievements in Sociology to 58.77%. All these outcomes serve to depict the efficiency of the intervention executed in this research.

Abstract

Four skills in teaching English, that we always learn are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. There are several elements of language which support these four skills are structure, vocabulary, pronunciation and spelling. Vocabulary is one of the most significant things to be learned in the language, and it is the main center of learning a foreign language. Anggraini (2013:2) states that in teaching English, teaching vocabulary is an essential activity since vocabulary mastery applied to all language learning and concern all or any four language skills such learning, speaking, reading and writing. Learning vocabulary is significant because the student’s ability to learn how to write and read English, as well as to proposing their ideas and knowing the subject, vocabulary mastery is decided. If the students lack vocabulary, they will have trouble communicating and transmitting message. It is also difficult for students with limited vocabulary to understand the oral and written language because vocabulary is a central component of learning English.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to know the effect of scientific approach in increasing students’ ability in listening skills in SMA Negeri 6 Medan. The method of this research is quantitative experimental. Population in this research is the first grade of SMA Negeri 6 Medan which are 120 students, and the sample are 60 students as group that applied the scientific approach. The result of this research found that the grade x students of SMA Negeri 6 Medan taught by stdents’ worksheet based on scientific approach in listening skills is good and after calculating and analyzing the data of the research, is found that the grade x students of SMA Negeri 6 Medan taught by students’ worksheet based on scientific approach in listening skills is fair and also the use of students’ worksheet based on scientific approach increase the students’ listening skills to the grade X students of SMA Negeri 6 Medan, it proved on the t-table with df 58 (n = n – 2 =30+30-2= 58) at t-critical 0.05 it obtained 1,67. If compared the value of t-tale (2,17>1,67). It stated that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the grade X students of SMA Negeri 6 Medan which taught by students’ worksheet based on scientific approach in listening skills is higher than those without students’ worksheet based on scientific approach and there were some effectiveness of using students’ worksheet in teaching listening.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether intensive reading strategy is effective to increase students’ English vocabulary. This research used quantitative method as its design.  The population in this research consists of 40 students from SMA Swasta EKLESIA. The sample of this research was 20 students in experimental group and 20 students in control group. To collect the data from both classes, this research used pre-test and post-test. The data from both classes analyzed by using SPSS program to calculate and determine the validity of the data. Based on the data analysis, the result of T-test revealed that the post-test score of the experimental group was higher than control group. Additionally, the result of hypothesis analysis showed that t-test is higher than t-table (2.831 > 2.021). It indicated that H0 (Null Hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted. Based on the result of this research, it showed that there was significant improvement on students’ vocabulary achievement in using intensive reading as a strategy in teaching.

Abstract

Pentingnya pendidikan karakter di lingkungan remaja saat ini sebagai sistem nilai-nilai karakter yang ditanamkan melalui pengetahuan, perasaan, dan tindakan untuk mendidik moral dan perilaku dalam meminimalisir krisis moral yang telah menimbulkan berbagai masalah seperti penyalahgunaan narkoba, kekerasan, dan bullying. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya pendidikan karakter untuk mengatasi permasalahan moral mahasiswa program studi pendidikan sejarah di Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kemerosotan moral mahasiswa seperti perkembangan waktu, keluarga, teman sebaya, lingkungan sekolah, dan lingkungan sosial. Manfaat pendidikan karakter antara lain melatih kecerdasan, mencegah perilaku buruk, meningkatkan budi pekerti dan akhlak individu,serta dapat menciptakan suasana yang kondusif, serta membangun bangsa yang lebih jujur dan lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, pendidikan karakter sangat penting dalam mewujudkan warga negara yang baik dengan nilai-nilai moral yang selaras dengan moralitas bangsa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang sesuai dengan kasus yang di teliti melalui observasi terhadap individu atau kelompok yang terkait dengan krisis moral yang terjadi dalam kalangan mahasiswa program studi pendidikan sejarah di Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Dalam melakukan analisis pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter untuk mengatasi krisis moral mahasiswa, peneliti memilih kasus yang relevan dan mengumpulkan data yang akurat berdasarkan sumber dan objek yang di teliti sehingga analisis data dapat di lakukan secara cermat untuk menemukan pola atau tema yang muncul terkait dengan pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter yang di teliti.

Abstract

Film adalah serangkaian gambar diam, yang ketika ditampilkan pada layar akan menciptakan ilusi gambar bergerak. Ilusi optik ini memaksa penonton untuk melihat gerakan berkelanjutan antar objek yang berbeda secara cepat dan berturut-turut. Film merupakan bagian dari media komunikasi massa yang sering kali digunakan sebagai media yang menggambarkan kehidupan sosial dalam masyarakat. Film sebagai salah satu atribut media massa menjadi sarana komunikasi yang paling efektif. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah pada saat proses kegiatan pembelajaran berlangsung dalam menyampaikan materi ajar masih terkesan monoton. Hal ini dikarenakan kurangnya partisipasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, sehingga membuat siswa menjadi bosan, kurang aktif dan akhirnya tidak memperhatikan guru yang sedang mengajar di kelas, akibatnya akan berdampak pada nilai mereka rendah. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini maka guru harus menggunakan media pembelajaran yang tepat. Media yang dapat digunakan yaitu media film. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh media film terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Selain itu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengolah informasi siswa melalui penerapan media film dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam penerapan media film untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengolah informasi siswa merupakan salah satu cara yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran sejarah di sekolah. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan saran atau rekomendasi serta bahan pertimbangan untuk guru agar siswa memiliki kemampuan dalam mengolah informasi sehingga pembelajaran sejarah dapat berjalan dengan lancar.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran IPS memiliki peran yang penting dalam membentuk sikap dan perilaku positif siswa. Mata pelajaran IPS, yang melibatkan kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, dan politik, memberikan kesempatan bagi siswa untuk mempelajari dan menerapkan nilai-nilai seperti kejujuran, tanggung jawab, kerja sama, toleransi, dan kepedulian sosial. Dalam pembelajaran IPS, nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dapat ditanamkan melalui berbagai metode dan strategi pembelajaran yang interaktif, seperti diskusi kelompok, studi kasus, atau penggunaan media dan teknologi yang relevan. Pembelajaran IPS juga membantu siswa memahami keterkaitan antara nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dengan konteks sosial dan kehidupan nyata, di mana mereka dapat belajar tentang penerapan nilai-nilai seperti keadilan, demokrasi, dan hak asasi manusia dalam masyarakat, negara, dan hubungan internasional. Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran IPS memiliki peran penting dalam membantu siswa mengembangkan pemikiran kritis dan analitis. Namun, kolaborasi antara guru, siswa, orang tua, dan lingkungan sekolah juga diperlukan untuk menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang mendukung pembentukan karakter siswa.

Abstract

Peranan media film dalam pembelajaran sangat penting karena melalui film dapat membentuk pendidikan karakter mahasiswa. Cerita-cerita yang disajikan dalam film mengandung pesan-pesan yang baik sehingga dapat dicontoh dan diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan. Film adalah salah satu media yang paling tepat digunakan dalam pembelajaran, nilai-nilai yanglada dalam film membawa arus perubahan karakter mahasiswa. Pada program studi pendidikan sejarah UISU pada mata kuliah sejarah lokal, penggunaan film sebagai sumber pembelajaran memiliki manfaat yang signifikan. Mahasiswa dapat menikmati pengalaman belajar yang lebih interaktif dan menarik, serta memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang sejarah lokal. Pemilihan film yang relevan dan akurat secara historis, pengenalan konteks sejarah sebelum menonton film, diskusi sebelum dan setelah menonton film, analisis kritis terhadap narasi film, dan penelitian tambahan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang topik yang diangkat dalam film adalah semua tindakan yang diperlukan dalam penggunaan media film. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah kualitiatif deskriptif yaitu penelitian yang menyajikan temuan dalam bentuk deskriptif kalimat yang rinci, lengkap, dan mendalam yang menggambarkan situasi sebenarnya guna mendukung penyajian data. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa kata-kata, kalimat atau gambar yang memiliki arti lebih bermakna daripada sekedar penyajian angka atau frekuensi. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian dasar yang menekan pada objek dan faktafakta yang tampak yaitu penerapan media film pada mata kuliah sejarah lokal sebagai penguatan pemahaman tentang teknik penelitian sejarah untuk Mahasiswa prodi pendidikan sejarah FKIP UISU Medan.

Abstract

One of the factors that can support success in a lesson is an effective and fun learning activity. To be able to create an effective and enjoyable learning atmosphere, teachers are expected to have models or methods as well as special media in learning. Various efforts that can be made by the teacher is to apply a learning model or method that is appropriate to the circumstances of the students. By maximizing the facilities available in the classroom and in the school environment. This Classroom Action Research aims to improve student learning outcomes in Civics subjects for Indonesian Ethnic Diversity through the use of the Make a Match learning model in Class IV MIS Amal Bhakti Perdamaan, Binjai District. This research was conducted at the beginning of the odd semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. These results indicate that there is an increase in student learning outcomes in the subject of Civics on the Diversity of Indonesian Tribes as evidenced by data that has increased from cycle I to cycle III. The average score of student learning outcomes in cycle I was 59.56 with a percentage of mastery learning of 47.06%, this value increased in cycle II with an average score of 67.94 with a percentage of 58.82%, increased again in cycle III with an average score of 78.97 with a percentage of 94%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe what forms are found in the analysis of Indonesian language usage errors in the writing of signboards, banners, and pamphlets in Medan Denai District. The research method used is descriptive research method whose data is already listed on the writing of signboards, banners, and pamphlets. The instrument used by the researcher in collecting data is from the form of documentation which is done by photographing or taking data in the form of pictures/photos on the subject and object under study, and assisted by a research tool in the form of a cellphone (HP) or smartphone. The data collection techniques used in this research are (1) observation techniques, (2) documentation techniques, and (3) recording techniques. The data analysis technique in this research is descriptive with the steps of (1) searching for data, (2) documenting data, (3) selecting and choosing data, (4) analyzing data and giving marks, (5) identifying data, (6) completing the data that has been obtained, (7) understanding the overall data that has been selected, and (8) concluding the research results. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that language errors in the use of spelling, punctuation, word choice, and standardized language vocabulary and non-standardized language vocabulary are still commonly found on signboards, banners, and pamphlets in Medan City, especially in Medan Denai District. The image data obtained by the researcher in accordance with his research amounted to 30 image data that had been taken in the North Sumatra region, specifically in Medan Denai District. The data were categorized by looking at the objects that have been determined by the researcher in his research which are Indonesian language usage errors in writing signboards, banners, and pamphlets. Therefore, the results of the language errors that have been analyzed are as follows: errors in the use of spelling on signboards, banners, and pamphlets amounted to 5 data; errors in the use of punctuation on signboards, banners, and pamphlets amounted to 5 data; errors in the use of word choice (diction) on signboards, banners, and pamphlets amounted to 1 data; and errors in the use of non-standard language vocabulary on signboards, banners, and pamphlets amounted to 9 data; and errors in the use of foreign language terms or elements on signboards, banners, and pamphlets amounted to 5 data
