Abstract

ABSTRACT This study attempts to describe the cohesive devices used in the Maxx Brides Magazine. The data of this study were taken from the articles found in the Maxx Brides Magazine on March Edition 2017. The data was collected by observation method. The analysis of the data was conducted by descriptive qualitative method. There are at least two factors that influence the text, those are cohesion and coherence. Cohesion provides the relation of meaning that exists within the text. Meanwhile, coherence is semantic property of discourse which is formed by interpretation of each relative sentence to other sentences .the coherent text is meaningful, unified and gives the impression. The qualitative analysis was applied in analyzing the sample texts. The finding showed that the demonstrative reference was the type most frequently used grammatical cohesion and synonym were the most frequently used lexical cohesion in the articles. Abstract

ABSTRACTGender inequality is the one of global issues that still happen to this day. Research has shown that inequality regarding gender mostly occurs in developing countries, causing many women on those countries lose many of their rights. Sadly, this also happens to Pakistani disabled Woman, Muniba Mazari. During her lifetime, she has received many unequal treatment from her family and husband. This paper aims to find out the struggle of Muniba Mazari in facing gender inequality so that the readers can get clear depiction on how women are treated unequally in some countries and to improve the readers’ awareness in responding to such social problem. This research was applied qualitative descriptive method by presenting the inequality based on Muniba Mazari’s speech. The applied theory came from Bourdieu of social structure and doxa, as well as Appraisal Theory will be used as a tool in disclosing the inequality. The results show that the inequality that Muniba got from her family and husband are sourced from the strong social structure and doxa spreading around her. Meanwhile, the appraisal theory shows that the most data implies unhappiness as Muniba did not accept her condition and felt oppressed of her previous life and unhappy marriage. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to find out the error of the students in writing a narrative essay and to find out the factor that causing the errors. The students under concern were the second-semester students of academic year 2016 taking the English 2 subject at STIKOM Bali Dual-Degree Program. This study used the theory of Writing particularly Narrative Writing, and theory of Error Analysis. The theory of Writing was used to measure the students’ ability in making a narrative writing. The theory of Error Analysis was used to find out the students’ types of error, and also to find out their source of error. The result of this study showed that the highest error was the error of misformation with the percentage 70.45% and made by 13 students. The lowest error was the error of addition with the percentage 11.36% and made by 4 students. The error of omission was 18.18% and made by 7 students. From those result, it can be concluded that the source of the students’ error in narrative writing was caused by the intralingual interference since they were very confuse in using the type of sentence in their target language particularly in using simple past. It is hoped that this study can help teacher in preparing the materials to be easier understood by the students and help them improving their ability in narrative writing. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is designed in form of action-based research which involved four steps in each circle, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Before treatment, pre-test is conducted in other to know the students’ ability at the beginning. So, the achievement can be compared to the next circle. Circle I consisted of four sessions; three sessions for conducting actions and one session administering post-test I. Circle II consisted of three sessions; two sessions for conducting actions and one session for post-test II. The aim of this research is to know the implementation of flash card game through vocabulary mastery of disabled students at Yayasan Bakti Senang Hati. This research is conducted at Yayasan Bakti Senang Hati which some disabled students are used as the subject of the research. It used seven kategories of vocabulary such as animal, family, fruits, number, things, vegetables and part of body as the instrument in colleting the data. The result of data showed that the use of flash card game could improve the vocabulary mastery of disabled students at Yayasan Bakti Senang Hati. It can be seen from the result of the students’ achievement tests which increased continuously during the application of the technique. During the pre-test, students are able to master 17 vocabularies from each category. Then, after the first Cilcle test there are 13 vocabularies form each category that they got. Therefore, their mastery became 30 vocabularies. Finnaly, it became 59 after the result of second cicle is held. Key words: vocabulary, flash card, implementation

Abstract

ABSTRACT The increase in tourist visits to Bali has become a growing place in various sectors in Bali which have an impact on health support facilities in the form of international hospitals. In its supporting activities, English language is the main thing in this field health workers, especially nurses who are able to communicate in English are needed to achieve good communication with international patients who visit the hospital. English language proficiency possessed by nurse nurses is professional in providing care to patients where nurses must be able to explain nursing procedures, drug administration, appropriate handling that allows patients to speak accurately and correctly. The lack of ability of a student in English is a phenomenon that occurs due to various factors. This study raised the ability of 5th semester nursing students in Stikes Bina Usada Bali. In this study, Stikes Bina Usada Bali students majoring in Nursing were the object of research. This study aims to analyze the problems faced by students of Stikes Bina Usada Bali in the pronunciation and analysis of factors that influence the ability of English Language on students at Stikes Bina Usada Bali. Descriptive data was used to analyze data in this study. This study shows that nursing students at Stikes Bina Usada Bali experience problems in English as the influence of the mother tongue (main language of each student) and second language (Indonesian). Several factors also influence the ability of students to speak in the form of internal and external factors such as language components and content components and the environment during the learning process. Abstract

ABSTRACT Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk alih kode dan campur kode guru dan siswa dalam pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMP Ganesa Denpasar dalam komunikasi proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Selanjutnya penelitian ini bertujuan pula untuk mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi alih kode dancampur kode dalam komunikasi guru-siswa saat berlangsungnya proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan dengan cara pengumpulan data bermacam-macam material dengan kajian teoritis dan referensi lain yang berkaitan dengan berkembang pada situasi sosial yang diteliti. Metode observasi juga dilakukan guna untuk mengukur sikap responden dengan cara merekam fenomena yang diteliti. Menganalisis data dengan cara menarikan kesimpulan dari hasil rekaman yang nanti dapat digunakan untuk mengambil tindakan. Sesuai dengan rumusan masalah, maka tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meneliti jenis, factor dan pengaruh alih kode dan campur kode terhadap proses belajar dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMP Ganesa Denpasar.
