<![CDATA[Privacy is essential for individual or community because it is aimed at providing a feeling of independence, giving an opportunity to release emotions, help self-evaluate, limit and protect yourself from communication with people. Housing in the gated community is now found to be built solely to be a place to live forgot the privacy. Most of the resident of houses in the gated community are people coming from different regions with different cultures. It is essential to provide the right model for a simple home that can bring about the privacy to residents. This study was categorized into a study using simulation and modeling research strategies. Simulation and modeling research strategy is a form of research using an artificial model of a particular process or system that will be tested through a simulation process, both natural phenomena and man-made phenomena. The phenomenon can be the form, activity, characteristics, changes, relationships, similarities and differences between one phenomenon with other phenomena. The benefit of this research is to find the right home design model based on the privacy of the occupants in a simple house, any elements of the house that can influence it and find a model that can be applied to simple home design in general.]]>

<![CDATA[The growth of gated communities in District of Medan Selayang for 20 years is very rapid, the people today tend to choose to live in a closed community. The community considers that living in the closed and elite community is a matter of pride, even though it causes disconnection with the surrounding environment. This study aims to find out what is the pull factor of people living in gated communities, especially in Kecamatan Medan Selayang. The type of research used in the research are; Descriptive qualitative, then it is analyzed on a nominal scale and Likert Scale. This research concludes that the pull factor of residents residing in gated communities in Medan Selayang sub-district is a factor of Security, Access, Economy and Facilities, Privacy and Exclusivity.]]>

<![CDATA[The pedestrian pathway can interact socially between communities. A pedestrian should be able to ensure safety and comfort as well as aesthetic value for pedestrians. The pedestrian pathway is crucial in urban design elements, especially in areas with high activity levels. As in Taman Setia Budi Indah Football Field, the existing pedestrian path is not able to accommodate its users. Both of the pedestrian materials and pedestrian supporting elements do not meet the elements of comfort and security and aesthetic value. The researcher tries to find modeling of a pedestrian path in that area which fulfills the element of comfort, safe and aesthetic value. The research method used is a qualitative method of observation. The method is analyzed based on theoretical analysis based on the comparison of the variable that has been determined. Through the theoretical analysis found several criteria pedestrian that meets the elements of comfort. The results of the analysis are then made modeling pedestrian paths around the Football Field in Taman Setia Budi Indah in the form of additional pedestrian width and other supporting elements such as seating, lighting, bins etc. to improve the safety and comfort for the walkers and utilization of river potentials in the area such as the attraction when walking.]]>

<![CDATA[Signage is one of the constituent elements of the city; there are so many types of signage, this study is limited to one type of signage only which is billboards. The diversity of existing billboards will be interesting when properly planned if the presence of billboards are not set properly and by its function than it is not impossible that the expected atmosphere can turn into an unpleasant atmosphere and damage the value of visual aesthetics. In the aesthetics there are harmony and contrast; as is a theory that supports the success of the design of public space regarding aesthetics is good to avoid the monotony and has a quality appeal. The research problem is how the billboards influence visual aesthetics on Ahmad Yani Medan road viewed from the aspect of harmony and contrast. Population in this research is billboards located along Jl. Ahmad Yani Medan. To complete the necessary data in this study, the researchers conducted data collection through observation and also the collection of related literature which became the main instrument in collecting primary data. This study is descriptive in which the data obtained in the field is collected and then analyzed, and the results described gradually in the form of writing. This study found that the influence of the existence of billboards along the road Ahmad Yani Medan has not fulfilled the aesthetic aspects in harmony and contrast.]]>

<![CDATA[A comfort open space has a function and a huge influence in housing because it becomes a means of activity throughout the housing dwellers. Debang Housing Taman Sari Medan is one of housing in Kecamatan Medan Selayang which has open space. The purpose of this research is to know the perception of occupant to the comfort of open space. There are several convenience factors that are used as indicators in research such as Circulation, Climate, Noise, Smell, Shape, Safety, Cleanliness, and Beauty. The research was done through qualitative descriptive analysis, where the data collection technique used questionnaire from the population and the specified sample. The process of collecting data, sampling technique until the criteria of research become an important process of research method. This study shows if the perception of occupants of the comfort of open space of housing Debang Taman Sari Medan is quite comfortable and needed supporting facilities for park users.]]>

<![CDATA[Public open space is a vital element in a city because of its presence in high intensity activities. One of thepublic open spaces in the middle of Medan city is Benteng Square. Benteng Square is included as an activepublic open space for activities, sports and ceremonies. Benteng Square is owned by the city governmentof Medan and the management is the Kodim 0201 / BB Medan, but its use is not maximal at this time.Therefore, the research is needed to find out how far the level of success and public perception ofBenteng Square. This research is quantitative research. The main data is a questionnaire which is thenanalyzed descriptively and quantitatively with a Likert scale. The results of the study show that theBenteng Square was successful in its function as a public open space.]]>

<![CDATA[Pedestrian path is a space for pedestrian activities to carry out activities and to provide services topedestrians so that it can improve the smoothness, safety, and comfort of pedestrians when crossing it. Infact the pedestrian paths that exist are mostly unable to meet the passions of pedestrians. The length oftime pedestrians are less noticed, which should be passed comfortably suddenly blocked by poles, trees,trash cans, stops, and traffic signs because the placement is not adjusted to the place so that thecirculation of road users becomes narrow and disturbed. This study aims to find aspects of comfort in thepedestrian path. Research uses quantative methods. This study found that some of the pedestrian path inthe study area were comfortable, but some were uncomfortable.]]>

<![CDATA[Pedestrian Over Pass is one part of the pedestrian path that functions as a pedestrian crossing facility. Pedestrian Over Pass are located on highways with high vehicle intensity and railway lines. As a facility designated for pedestrians, the Pedestrian Over Pass should be effectively used. However, the phenomenon that occurs at this time is that there are many Pedestrian Over Pass that are not used by pedestrians, and they prefer to cross directly. Aside from not being used, many Pedestrian Over Pass are damaged and do not meet the standards of provision. Likewise, what happened in the Merdeka Field area in Medan, there are several Pedestrian Over Pass that are not used and have been damaged and cannot even be accessed. Therefore, researchers are interested in conducting research related to the effectiveness of using the Pedestrian Over Pass in the Merdeka Field area of Medan (Case study: Jalan Putri Hijau and Jalan Guru Patimpus). This study found that the effectiveness of using the Pedestrian Over Pass in research are are Low.]]>

<![CDATA[Merdeka Square is a public open space which is intended for all people. Public open space is a place as a general basis where people carry out functional and ritual activities that bind the community, both in the normal routine of daily life or in periodic celebrations. Merdeka Square is a place frequented by some of the citizens of Medan City. Even visitors from outside Medan came to take time to stop at Merdeka Square when certain events were held at Merdeka Square. This is what attracts people - certain people use the crowd to become the potential to run a business. So it is not surprising that in the Merdeka Square area at certain events and days it will be crowded not only with the presence of visitors to Merdeka Square, but also the presence of the informall sector such as street vendors. The purpose of this study is to obtain or produce a design proposal to organize the Street Vendors in the Merdeka Square Area in hopes of increasing comfort for visitors in the Merdeka Square Area.]]>

<![CDATA[Pedestrian paths are very important in urban design elements, especially trade areas. Similarly on Jl. Medan Railway Station and Jl. Medan Red Cross, but this need is not comparable to the conditions of the pedestrian path on both roads which have been damaged and not maintained, causing inconvenience. Because of this, the researchers tried to find the concept of the pedestrian path to the two roads. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Then the method is analyzed based on theoretical and empirical analysis. Through the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis found several results in accordance with the hypothesis of the researcher. The results of the analysis are then made anappropriate concept on Jl. Medan Railway Station and Jl. Medan Red Cross.]]>
