Abstract

The KARNALI Paradigm is a systematic methodology for development in Nepal's Karnali Province, prioritizing community empowerment, participatory development, and sustainability. It involves assessing needs, mobilizing communities, and planning projects, securing resources, implementing initiatives, and evaluating progress to create an inclusive and effective model of development. The paradigm recognizes the multidimensional nature of development, targeting economic, social, cultural, human, environmental, political, and technological aspects. It aims to reduce inequality, eradicate poverty, and improve access to goods, services, and opportunities. Accountability is essential for transparent and equitable development outcomes. A holistic approach promotes transparency and accountability through systems, policies, effective knowledge implementation, resource management, continuous learning, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration. The KARNALI Paradigm offers a framework to implement these recommendations, fostering accountability and positive societal change. By adopting the paradigm and implementing these strategies, individuals and organizations in the development sector can achieve their goals and create meaningful impact in Karnali Province.

Abstract

Audit quality is all possibilities (probability) where the auditor when auditing the client's financial statements can find violations that occur in the client's accounting system and report them in the audited financial statements, where in carrying out their duties the auditor is guided by auditing standards and the relevant public accountant code of ethics. This study aims to examine the effect of audit tenure, audit fees, size of public accounting firm, auditor specialization, and audit rotation on audit quality. Audit quality is measured using a dummy variable by looking at going concern opinions made by independent auditors, audit fees are measured by Ln (natural logarithm), audit tenure is measured by calculating the number of years in which the same auditor has engaged the client, size of public accounting firm, specialization auditors, and rotation is measured using a dummy variable. The population in this study are Transportation and Logistics Service companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2017-2021 period which have been audited. The sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling method. The analytical method used to test the hypothesis is logistic regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that audit specialization has an effect on audit quality, while audit tenure, audit fees, size of a public accounting firm, and audit rotation have no effect on audit quality.

Abstract

Oil palm is a carbon absorbing plant that stores it in biomass. To monitor biomass, especially in large areas of oil palm plantations, remote sensing data can be used combined with machine learning algorithms. The aims of this study were to estimate oil palm biomass carbon according to age class using non-destructive methods, as well as analyze the relationship between the reflectance of Sentinel 2 image oil palm and oil palm biomass carbon, and estimate the distribution of oil palm biomass carbon using a learning algorithm random forest (RF) engine. Measurement of biomass at the study site was carried out non-destructively using stratified purposive sampling. The closeness of the relationship between Sentinel 2 image and measured oil palm biomass is assessed from the coefficient of determination of the regression equation. Estimation of the distribution of biomass carbon in all research locations was carried out using the RF method with the Dzetsaka classification tool. The results showed that the highest biomass carbon stock was obtained in oil palm aged 20 years with an average of 59.6 tons C/ha, while the lowest biomass carbon stock was obtained in oil palm aged 17 years with an average of 32.9 tons C/ha. The reflectance value of Sentinel-2 image on the blue, green, red, and near infrared channels has a positive correlation to biomass carbon from oil palm with an R² greater than 0.8. The classification of biomass carbon with the RF approach applied to Sentinel-2 image gives an adequate accuracy value of 76.40% in the combination of the proportion of training and testing data 60% : 40%.

Abstract

A landslide is a form of natural phenomenon that often occurs in mountainous and hilly regions with steep up to very steep slopes. Landslides are one of the most dangerous natural hazards and occur frequently in many hilly or mountainous areas, often occurring without warning and causing loss of life and property, marked with movement material of slope-forming materials in the form of rocks, soil, or materials down the slope. This study aimed to identify the distribution of landslide-prone areas in 86 buffer villages in Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi Province using geographic information system (GIS) based spatial analysis with scoring and overlay. The research parameters consisted of land cover/use, rainfall, elevation, slope, soil type, lithology, and distance from the fault. Identification of vulnerability factors for susceptibility level was determined according to 7 parameters used in the analysis. The results showed that the level of landslide susceptibility in the study area was divided into 3 classes, namely low (85.679,74 ha), moderate (363.184,89 ha), and high (26.888,46 ha). Villages that have a high level of vulnerability are Lempelero, Runde, Sedoa, Tuare, and Tongoa.

Abstract

Bali tourism has surged again since the government made the decision to reopen the tourism sector in order to encourage activity and economic recovery. Tourism is the mainstay sector of Bali’s economy. Tourist visits to Bali shot up sharply to more than hundreds of visits every week. This raises problems for Bali tourism in the future, especially in the transportation and accommodation sector, because to support daily activities and reduce vacation costs, foreign tourists prefer to rent motorized vehicles freely without showing an international driving license that must be owned by foreign citizens to be able to rent a motorized vehicle in Bali. This is of course an advantage for motor vehicle rental business actors, but on the other hand, traffic violations by foreign nationals have increased, even from minor violations to violations that result in the loss of a person's life. This study uses normative legal research methods with a statue approach, to find a rule, principle, or legal doctrine to answer the legal problems faced.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between job resources, public service motivation, and affective commitment in employees in the Parakita Dental and General Clinic environment. The population of this study is the employee agencies in the region, with a sample unit of individuals working in the agency. Non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling was used in sampling, with a total of 100 respondents who had worked overnight for two years as research respondents. Data were obtained through a survey using a six-point Likert scale questionnaire, and data analysis was conducted using the SPSS version 25 program as well as the Sobel test as a tool to test the role of mediation. The results show that the importance of job resources and public service motivation in increasing work engagement, which in turn has an impact on employees' emotional attachment and desire to contribute maximally to the organization. By understanding the mediating role of work engagement, organizational management can design more effective strategies to improve work quality and employee engagement, and create a work environment oriented towards good public service values in the public sector.

Abstract

The present study investigates the association between gender and body mass index (BMI) status through a comprehensive statistical analysis. A diverse sample of participants was utilized to examine the prevalence and distribution of different BMI categories among males and females. Statistical techniques, including crosstabulation, chi-square tests, and correlation analysis, were employed to analyze the data and determine the significance of the relationship. The results of the analysis revealed distinct gender-specific variations in BMI status. Among females, the majority fell into the normal weight category (n=89, 49.0%), while males showed a higher prevalence of overweight (n=32, 21.5%). The crosstabulation table further demonstrated the distribution of participants across gender and BMI status categories, providing valuable insights into the prevalence of specific BMI statuses among males and females. The chi-square tests confirmed a significant association between gender and BMI status (p < 0.001), indicating that gender significantly influenced the likelihood of being in specific BMI categories. This finding emphasizes the importance of considering gender-specific factors in understanding and addressing BMI-related health disparities. The correlation analysis revealed a moderate positive association between gender and BMI status (r=0.205, p < 0.001), indicating that as gender changed from female to male, there was a tendency for BMI status to shift from lower categories to higher categories.
