Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the life of William Blake was reflected in his poems. The reason the author wants to analyze the poems and the biography of William Blake because the author found an interesting fact that Blake was said to be unschooled but he could make so many literary works. This is a descriptive qualitative research using a biographical approach and hermeneutic theory. Data sources are taken from 10 poems written by Blake, namely A Poison Tree, The Tyger, The Angel, London, The Little Boy Lost, The Lamb, The Little Boy Found, The Chimney Sweeper, The Land of Dreams, The Little Black Boy. The author collects data by applying documentary techniques with the following steps namely, First, the author finds or identifies the poems of William Blake. Second, the author selected the poems of William Blake in form random. Third, after the author selected the poem in form random, the author reads and understands the outline that these selected poems describes of William Blake's biography and to analyze the data, the author uses three steps namely: data reduction, display and conclusion drawing. The result of the analysis found that the ten poems written by William Blake reflect his life. All ten poems describe his anger at his enemies, his love for children and animals, his family, his home and his literary works. Thus, the author can conclude that in William Blake's life there are joys and sorrows, struggles, glory days, and getting his first vision in his biography.

Abstract

This research aims to identify derivational suffix found in J.K. Rowling's novel entitled, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. This research used descriptive qualitative method. This research research applied library research technique to collect the data. Furthermore, content analysis technique was applied to analyze the data. The result showed that there are 47 derivational suffixes which consist of 25 nominal suffixes (-age -ance, -ant, -ation, -dom, -ee, -ence, -er, -ful, -hood, -ian, -ing, -ion, -ist, -ity, -ment, -ness, -or, -ry, -ship, -sion, -ster, -ty, -ure, -y), 2 verbal suffixes (-en, -ize), 18 adjectival suffixes (-able, -al, -an, -ant, -ary, -ed, -en, -ful, -ian, -ible, -ic, -ing, -ish, -ive, -less, -ly, -ous, -y), and 2 adverbial suffixes (-ly, -ward). Those derivational suffixes can maintain, change, or even both.

Abstract

This review of the literature investigates the implementation of authentic assessment methods to effectively assess Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in the context of Curriculum 2013 (K-13). As emphasis on fostering students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity increases, the need for reliable and valid assessment techniques has become of the highest level. The research investigates an extensive number of scientific articles, research papers, and educational resources published between 2013 and 2023. This paper examines, through a systematic review, authentic assessment strategies that have been used to evaluate HOTS in the K–13 education system. The review demonstrates the potential advantages of authentic assessment for enhancing students' cognitive abilities, motivation, and knowledge application in real-world settings. In addition, it discusses the difficulties and effects of integrating authentic assessment into the curriculum. This literature review seeks to assist educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers in designing effective assessment practices that correspond with the transforming educational context while supporting the development of learners' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Internet merupakan teknologi masa kini yang mempunyai peran sangat penting di era globalisasi. Internet bagaikan sebuah perpustakaan dunia yang bisa kita akses dengan mudah segala kebutuhan yang kita perlukan. Internet mempunyai jaringan data yang mendunia, seseorang bisa mengakses dengan bebas didalam internet sesuai kehendaknya. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implikasi media internet terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas XI di SMA Muhammadiyah Tual Kecamatan Dullah Utara Kota Tual? Serta untuk mengetahui dampak positif dan negatif implikasi media internet terhadap minat belajar siswa kelas XI di SMA Muhammadiyah Tual Kecamatan Dullah Utara Kota Tual?. Tipe penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif, subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 1 orang kepala sekolah, 1 orang wakil kepala sekolah bidang akademik, dan 35 orang peserta didik, sehingga berjumlah 37 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, angket dan dokumentasi, sedangkan teknik analisis data berupa reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh penulis dengan cara penyebaran angket, didapatkan hasil 10% siswa selalu menggunakan internet, 60% siswa sering menggunakan internet dan 30% siswa kadang-kadang menggunakan internet. Pada soal nomor 2 didapatkan hasil 20% siswa selalu mengerjakan tugas menggunakan internet, 35% siswa sering mengerjakan tugas menggunakan internet, dan 45% siswa tidak terlalu sering mengerjakan tugas menggunakan internet. Pada soal nomor 4 didapatkan hasil 10% siswa sering menggunakan internet untuk bermain game online, 45% kadang-kadang, dan 45% tidak pernah menggunakan internet untuk bermain game online. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan penggunaan internet dikalangan siswa sudah menjadi kebiasaan namun ada beberapa siswa yang masih bisa membatasi dan menggunakan teknologi internet secara bijaksana. Hasil yang diperoleh pada soal nomor 4 yaitu 10% siswa selalu mengalami penurunan minat belajar ketika menggunakan internet, 65% siswa kadang-kadang mengalami penurunan minat belajar saat menggunakan internet dan 25% siswa tidak penah mengalami penurunan minat belajar saat menggunakan internet.

Abstract

This research  aims to identify and analyze the meaningof figurative language on tua kalok ceremony.The researcher used qualitative method.  Data collection techniques used in this research used, interview and  documentation.In the results there are  process of tua kalok ceremony,in the process of Tua Kalok Ceremony have three stages are the preparation stage of the ritual, the main stage, and the final stage and the kind of figurative language found in Tua Kalok ceremony is synecdoche,personification and repetition, one of the  meaning on figurative language found in Tua Kalok ceremony is  Synecdoche,example Mai ita tinu Tua Supan widin jajin nan or Let us drink tua and mixed in goat's blood,the meqaning that let us drink tua mixed with goat's blood, which symbolizes taking the traditional oath.

Abstract

ABSTRACK Phatic expressions are rarely discussed in communication studies and are not known to many people even though the use of phatic expressions is often used in everyday life. The objective of research is to describe the types and functions of phatic expressions used in Freedom Writer’s film. The theory used Biber (in Aziz, 2015) and Kinneavy (in Chaer, 2009) to analysis the data of research. This research used descriptive qualitative research methods with observation and documentation data collection techniques. The results of this research found 11 types of phatic expressions contained in the characters' conversations in the Freedom Writer's film, namely: 1) interjection, 2) Greetings and Farewells, 3) Discourse markers, 4) Response, 5) Hesitators, 6) The politeness markers please, 7) Apologies, 8) Casual pronunciation, 9) Attention signal, 10) Thanks, 11) Expletives. Meanwhile, the functions of phatic expressions found in the film Freedom Writer’s include 4 functions: 1) Expression functions found in phatic expression types Thanks, Response, Expletive, Discourse markers, Interjection, and Apologies, 2) Information functions in the types of Discourse markers, Casual pronunciation and Responses, 3) Exploration function in the types of Response, Discourse markers and casual pronunciation types, 4) Persuasion function in Response types, Casual pronouncement and The politeness markers please.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan makna ujaran Azmi Farahdiba Yang menghina etnis Buton di Seluruh Indonesia. Penelitian merupakan penelitian deskripti kualitatif. Sedangkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah ujaran pada postingan facebook Azmi Farahdiba. Untuk mendapatkan data ujaran, peneliti memotret ujaran pada media sosial facebook milik Azmi. Data yang telah dipotret selanjutnya ditranskripsikan. Setelah data berhasil ditranskip, selanjutnya data dipilah berdasarkan kata, kalimat, dan faktor lain yang mengacu pada makna. Usai dipilah data kemudian dianalisis dengan kajian teori-teori makna. Hasil dari penelitian ini Ujaran Azmi Farahdiba mengandung makna semantik dan pragmatik. Dalam kajian semantik ujaran yang dikaji adalah frasa yang merupakan pengetahuan umum yang sama-sama diketahui antara penutur dan petutur. Dalam kajian pragmatik data dikaji dengan implikatur, ada dua data implikatur yang terdapat pada ujaran Azmi Farahdiba. Terakhir, ujaran Azmi Farahdiba merupakan bentuk kalimat ujaran kebencian dengan jenis penghinaan.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the symbols in Robert Frost‘s poetry and analyze the meaning of those symbols. In this study, the author is going to focus on the symbols in Robert Frost‘s poetry. The author limits this analysis to Five of Robert Frost‘s poetry, they are: “Out -Out ”, “Acquainted with the Night”, “Ghost House”, “My November Guest” and ”A Prayer In Spring”. In writing and analyzing the data on this study, the author used the descriptive qualitative. The author used the library research and technique on this study also content analysis to analyze the problem. The author find out and analyze about the symbols that reflected with theoretically and explain the meaning about the symbols in each poetry. Therefore, the result of this study concludes that In Robert Frost‘s selected poems there are symbols, they are light, the sunset, the saw, darkness, rain, the watchman, flowers, bees, bird love, ghosts, raspberries, the toad, the black bats, the whippoorwill, house, rain, tree, sky and earth. Abstract

Pictures have been one of the most influential sources, especially, in teaching and learning an unknown language. The use of pictures has great implications for teaching and learning the English language to non-natives. The current study aimed to explore the use of pictures to teach the English language in primary schools.The researchers, following the norms of qualitative research, used class observations and interviews as the tools for data collection. The findings of the study reiterated that the use of pictures in language teaching is quite helpful; however, the teachers under observation, often, did not make use of pictures found in the textbooks to teach the English language. The teachers can make their lectures and classroom activities more lively, interesting, and fruitful by employing the pictures found in the textbooks they use to teach the English language.

Abstract

Gadget saat ini sudah di gunakan banyak orang baik anak-anak maupun dewasa. Hal ini tidak memungkinkan bahwa di antaranya adalah anak-anak yang berada dalam massa pertumbuhan yaitu usia dini. Pada masa usia dini banyak anak mengalami perubahan hormon pada pertumbuhan mereka, yang mana dapat mempengaruhi perilaku berbahasa pada anak tersebut. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana pengaruh media sosial terhadap perilaku berbahasa pra-remaja selama massa pandemi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dan cakap. Serta teknik pengumpulan data dengan teknik rekam dan catat. Sumber data pada penelitian ini berupa data catatan lapangan serta wawancara pada anak tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian kualitatif yang dibutuhkan peneliti adalah berupa informasi yang mendalam mengenai pengaruh gadget bagi anak usia dini, seperti kurang komunikatif dengan lingkungan sekitar atau menggunakan bahasa-bahasa yang tidak semsestiya.
