Abstract

Qur’an is a holly book that was revealed by Allah S.W.T to the prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) as guidances for human kind to live better in order to help them to get good part today and the day after. Qur’an is also as a direction (hudan) for people in general and obedient people (moslem) specifically, and it has been a medium to make it different between good and bad (al-furqan). As revelation, Qur’an discusses about faith, etiquette, moral value, and character. This study described Qur’an perspective of character education. Through character education, it is hoped that moslem people can apply it in line with Qur’an rules. Therefore, moslem people can achieve good personality (akhlatul-karimah dan Mmahmudah) and avoid something bad (mazmumah), even achieving demoralization.Kata Kunci: al-quran, pendidikan karakter, akhlak, etika dan moral

Abstract

Syllabus is a development of curriculum that contains synopsis, competency, indicator of topic/ sub- topic, and reference of a major. To apply curriculum well in a classroom, it is better to develop syllabus to become a lesson plan. Lesson plan consists of some components; Standard Competency, Basic Comptency, Indicator Competency, Lecture material and its description, learning experience (learning Strategy), media/ learning tools, evaluation system, and reference. Lesson plan is a projection that will be done by lecturer in classroom.Kata kunci: kurikulum, silabus, SAP

Abstract

In teaching ‘qawaid’, it needs an actual and an innovative strategy. A ‘qawaid’ teaching technique (uslub) is one of many teaching techniques of language. The choosing technique has to be consistent with teaching method used, and it has to be appropriate with relevant approaches. The application of teaching ‘qawait’ can be combined with some strategies. It means that if a teacher is not successful in applying one technique, s/he can change it with another technique directly. The differences of students’ mastery (not homogen) in class may influence the accuracy and the success of teaching technique used. The analysis of  representative ‘qawaid’ teaching technique for College Islamic Studies is that teaching ‘qawaid’ relys on the basis of Qur’an in which students can learn by applying ‘qawaid’ theory and also can master the content of Qur’an. Kata kunci: analisis, teknik pengajaran, qawa’id

Abstract

Quantity and the quality of counseling services for senior high school students are still much lower that they are expected is suspected to be due to their low skill in mastering counseling approaches in one side and students’ tendency to consult their peers. Researches prove that peer counseling is more effective in developing students’ personality growth and solving several child, teenager and even parents’ problems. Reality Approach Counseling, a present-based orientation and realistic thinking encouragement, is believed to be appropriate for teenagers and therefore can be promoted as one of innovated techniques in carrying out peer counseling services in senior high schools.Kata kunci: peer counseling, konseling pendekatan realitas

Abstract

This article discusses about the use of the debating activities in fostering students’ communication and critical thinking skills. The aims of debating are to enable the students to be active and creative in the classroom. Debating is also assumed as a valuable learning activity for teaching critical thinking and improving communication skills. Debating is an effective pedagogical way because of the level of responsibility for learning and active involvement required by all student debaters. Many teachers realize that the best strategy for motivating the students to communicate in English is by changing the situation in the class. By creating an interesting and motivating environment, the students are expected to be immersed in the activities given by the teachers. Moreover, an ideal teacher should provide opportunities for students to talk by using group work or pair work, and limiting teacher talk. Therefore, the teacher should keep encouraging the students to get involved during the process of learning in the class most of the time.

Abstract

Various kinds of psychological tests have been administered in Indonesia. Unfortunately, almost all of them are adapted from different culture. This in turn will create new problems since those test are designed by developed countries. Since the tests contain different languages, attributes, norms and values, the biases are unavoidable. Abstract

Translation is a process of translating messages from the source language to the target one by preserving the intended meaning of the original sources.  This can be achieved by following three main stages: analyzing the message of the source language, translating and reconstructing message by re-expressing in target language so that the translated version is acceptable and readable in terms of form and style of the target language. Since source and target languages have their own type and grammatical rules, a good translations, therefore, should use natural forms of target language and communicate as much as possible the meaning intended by the source language into target language while preserving the ‘dynamics’ source language texts.Kata kunci: terjemah, linguistik, bahasa sumber, bahasa sasaran

Abstract

Drug abuses among teenagers increase from day to day. In the last decade, the number of victims of the drugs endangers the existence of the nation in the future. Such reality should be responded through concrete, anticipative, and soluble efforts to avoid physical, psychological, social, moral and religious destructions. One of those efforts is through counseling approach by strengthening perception, attitude, understanding and commitment to enhance holistically healthy life style. Abstract

One of the causes of students’ low in comprehending concepts in learning mathematics is the teacher centered teaching method. One alternative that can be proposed to solve the problem is by employing contextual learning approach through TPS-Berempat cooperative learning. This study therefore aimed at figuring out whether the students’ concept which was taught by  TPS-Berempat cooperative learning model is better than that by the conventional one and whether the components of the model existed. The participants of the research were the seventh grade students of SMP N 20 Padang in 2009/2010 academic year. Quasi Experimental method using Posttest Control Group Design was employed. Experimental group was treated by using contextual learning approach while the control one by using conventional. The data was taken from achievement test. The result of the analysis showed that the components of the contextual learning appeared well and students’ comprehension toward the concept which was taught by contextual learning in mathematics was better than that of by the conventional one.Kata kunci: pemahaman konsep, pendekatan kontekstual, kooperatif  TPS-berempat

Abstract

This research aimed at figuring out the effect of PKMSEB method toward learning achievement and involvement of Biology Department students in Research Methodology subject. This research employed a classroom action research. The population of the research was 70 students who were taking Research Methodology subject. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics. The findings showed that PKMSEB method improved students’ learning achievement although it was not high. Students’ learning involvement was fairly high. In general, all elements of involvement activity and learning achievement improved, however, the percentage and the score of such improvement were not significant. Scientifically, such improvement can be accepted and the hypothesis was supported.Kata kunci: aktivitas, hasil belajar, kompetisi pembentukan masalah, estafet berkelompok
