Abstract

Politics in Boyolali Regency is controlled by the PDI-P with control of 35 seats for DPRD members in parliament, followed by the Golkar Party with 4 chairs, PKS with 3 chairs, PKB with 2 chairs and the Gerindra Party with 1 seat. With the majority of the number of DPRD members in parliament, PDI P rallied with all parties that won seats in parliament to nominate the incumbent as the sole regent candidate, except for the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) which was neutral. Although only one pair of candidates participated, and it was carried out during the Covid-19 outbreak, the voter turnout rate in Boyolali was very high. This researcher will see, if the high participation is due to the success of political communication between the candidates and the KPU or whether there is a mass mobilization movement from the candidate for regent. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the election of a single candidate against an empty box are unattractive because there is no competition or power struggle. Even though it wasn't interesting, people still came to the polling station due to massive socialization from the Boyolali KPU.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the instruments in place of brand identity for destination development and MSMEs in a tourism village. The participatory approach was carried out by conducting the FGDs (Focus Group Discussions) sequence to involve citizens in formulating place branding. The citizens made and identified designs and icons, provided design directions, and gave the feel of a story to the resulting design. In previous research, place branding mainly was carried out in cities or places with dominant government hierarchies. In contrast, this research was conducted in villages and areas with a solid community base because the selected tourism villages were community-based tourism (CBT) villages. In addition, this research also observes how place branding can be done by trying to understand personality association through a participatory process and came from the citizens themselves. This research will contribute to the necessary instrument schemes for forming place branding in the village and community-based contexts. Several findings were noted in this research related to the challenges of MSMEs and destinations in carrying out branding, profit allocation issues, the difference of value or selling unique in formulating branding, the benefits of branding and technology, and challenges in supporting technology application. Based on the findings, this research showed several instrument applications in place branding, including three pillars, i.e., place physics, place practice, and place personality.

Abstract

Alpha generation is born after 2010. They grew up and live with sophisticated digital technology. They are used to operating modern technology in daily activities. They are used to using technology to communicate with others, in the real world and the virtual world. Many public spheres in cyberspaces have been explored by them such as YouTuber, TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, online game, online news, e-commerce, m-banking and so on. This technology is called a smartphone which provides various conveniences with information services and unlimited benefits. This causes the alpha generation to enjoy the virtual world and ignore their activities in the real world. The lack of censorship on content uploaded in cyberspace makes the mindset and behavior of the alpha generation, who are still unstable, forced to mature and mature before their age. So that the digitization of this media can trigger a premature alpha generation. Various anticipations have been created by technology, for example applications that can filter content that is not suitable for children such as adult content, violence, issues of intolerance, and others. However, this protection is not enough. The role of parents is very important to overcoming this problem. Children spend more of their free time at home. Full support and concern from the government, society, academia and the media will complement various efforts to make the alpha generation free from digital fantasy addiction.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of local journalists in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, especially Lombok. This type of research is qualitative and the method used is phenomenology. The process of collecting research data was carried out through observation, and in-depth interviews. The researcher also conducted documentation and literature studies relevant to the research. The researcher analyzed the stages of organizing data, noting important points, describing meanings for informants, grouping statements into several units, developing descriptive text, detailing the experiences of informants more deeply through descriptions, and drawing conclusions. This research found that journalists who work in online media think that the print media industry still has a special niche of customers from the educated to government employees, but if they are not creative then print media will decrease. On the other hand, print media journalists feel that the print media industry will survive as long as regulations regarding local government advertising spending do not change. This regulation benefits print media because the value of their advertising partnership is much higher than online media. This research also found that print media journalists understand the condition of their company's dependence on local government and this relationship pattern is not sustainable. Meanwhile, online media journalists understand that their work culture in this industry demands more work while there is very little support for social and health insurance, especially for those who are contributing journalists.

Abstract

The film cannot be viewed solely as a form of entertainment. However, the media plays the role of social reality construction. The film Bumi Manusia, which uniquely depicts the female gender, is full of social construction roles. The female character in the film, Nyai Ontosoroh, is described as having different characteristics and abilities than Javanese women in the nineteenth century. As a result, researchers want to examine the film to see how the reconstruction of women's gender occurs in it. The researcher used a qualitative method based on Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach. According to the research findings, this film aims to rebuild women's gender roles and positions that are equal to those of men. Women are figures with equal strength and ideas to men, particularly in leadership, which has traditionally been dominated by men. Nyai Ontosoroh, as a female gender representative, is portrayed as a new reality with strong characters: resilient, not easily defeated, knowledgeable, and capable of leadership. It is hoped that this reconstruction of Nyai Ontosoroh's figure will help to dispel the old stereotype of women as weak, capable of only makeup (macak), cooking (masak), and (giving birth) manak.
