Abstract

The focus of this paper is to explore the experience of God's mercy in the midst of disaster. Disasters often make people suffer. This experience of suffering raises a question about God's mercy. Where is God in human suffering? In that situation, human beings try to maintain their faith or turn away from it and do not believe in God's love. Hosea 1: 6-7 provides an interesting reflection on the Israelites' experiences of suffering. The main objective of this research is to see God's act of mercy in the text of Hosea 1: 6-7 and its meaning for people who are in disaster situations. The experience of the Israelites become an image for everyone of how to deal with difficult events in life. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a semantic analysis approach and literature study. This study found several points in interpreting God's love in the midst of a disaster experience, namely: a) God is faithful in accompaning His people, b) God's love continues in human life. God's loyalty and love have made people steadfast in their faith even in facing of catastrophic events.

Abstract

Focus of this article is on a reflection about the existence of God in the midst of human suffering. The method used by the author is a qualitative method with a literature approach and supported by the phenomenon of human suffering today, specifically related to the existence of Covid-19. The existence of a loving God and the origin of all good things is questioned in the midst of suffering. God seems to be lost, or maybe just watching the struggles of humans. Questions about God are often long reflections for believers. It is not uncommon for doubts to arise in life. The new discovery of this question based on Jürgen Moltmann's Theology of a Crucified God is that God never leaves man alone to endure their suffering. He also suffered, but His suffering was not the result of weakness or deficiencies in His existence as experienced by humans in the history of his life. He suffered from excess. That's all He does, first of all because He is Love. Love that underlies Him to sacrifice. His love strengthen man s to endure suffering.

Abstract

In this article, the author would like to see the disaster in relation to the development of individualism, especially in the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. The disaster is not meant by natural situations, but rather sees the human factor as a source of disaster when each one lives individualism. Furthermore, the author explores and reflects on this theme in pastoral theology. In this way, the search for the identity of the Christian human finds its meaning in the life of Jesus, the Church, and its teachings, including the challenges today. When reflecting on the life of Jesus himself, the christian humans basically cannot be separated from the lifestyle of His service. Therefore, every follower of Christ is called to imitate Him as a person who dares to break the limits of marginality in the mission. Hereafter, the lifestyle of Jesus seems to have inspired the life of the early congregation and the Church until now. In the next discussion, pastoral theological reflection applies the documents of the Second Vatican Council and several documents later. The method used in this paper refers to library research. The results of this study found that individualism is a real disaster that exists in the modern world today. Individual, indifferent, and selfish attitudes have become a source of conflict and misery. This is even more alarming, when during the Covid-19 pandemic people became less concerned. Therefore, every Christian is called to witness, care for others, and cooperate according to the example of Jesus’ life.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is a term that is often discussed today, namely "bromance". This bromance phenomenon is often found in the social reality of this modern age, but sometimes the understanding and conception of the word bromance is not understood and even misguided and immediately considers this relationship very unnatural to be shown socially. It is undeniable that bromance relationships are often associated with relationships between men who are physically bound, as well as sex and psychological relationships. The concept of friendship in this modern era has become one of the reasons why the concept of bromance can rampant, they even dare to deliberately appear in the reality of everyday life. Starting from this, this paper wants to clarify the meaning of the word "bromance" along with the characteristics of relationships and examples, as well as constructing the boundaries of the difference between homosexuals and bromance. The methodology used is a library study by taking sources from several books and related articles.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the elaboration of interfaith marriages in canon law and civil law. The catholics as baptized people are members of the Universal Church. Because of this membership, they have to obey the Church rules. Simultaneously as a member of the Church who lives in a country, they also be bound by the civil law where they live. With the plural life context in the NKRI, it is not impossible for interfaith marriages to occur. Therefore, this paper intends to elaborate on the respective legal, canonical and civil policies. The method used in this paper is a comparative study by examining the policies of the applicable laws, with the aim of finding common ground, the extent to which the two laws accommodate the needs of their citizens. The findings of this paper are canonical law explicitly legalizes religious marriage with certain considerations and conditions. While civil law does not explicitly state it. Civil law only 'gives a gap' for the implementation of interfaith marriages.

Abstract

LGBT and same-sex marriage are phenomena that should not be underestimated by the Catholic Church, especially in proclaiming the Kingdom of God and the teachings of Christ's love in the world. These phenomena must be taken seriously and wisely regarding the proclamation of faith to all creation; with no exception with LGBT people and same-sex marriage. The Catholic Church, in its moral teachings, is strict about LGBT and same-sex marriage. The reason is apparent that this is not in line with the purpose of creation; namely to become the image of God (male and female) and pro creatio: where humans become God's co-workers who continue the great work of the Holy Trinity. Although homosexual acts are opposed in the Church, the Church still accepts homosexual persons as human beings, God's sublime creations, who have been called to live in holiness with God from the beginning. The Church believes that with the help of God's grace, homosexual individuals can live their lives like other normal human beings and strive for purity in their thoughts, words, and actions daily.

Abstract

In this paper, the author concentrates on the theme of digital literacy in sexual education by context of Catholic marriage. This Literacy is not only the ability to read and write, but also the ability to understand and use information in various formats that come from various digital sources presented through computers. In the relation between digital literacy and sexuality education in the context of Catholic marriage, the author presents various digital literacy media that can be used to obtain information about sexuality education through the internet, both in general and in the context of Catholic marriage. Therefore, in this paper, the author hopes that the use of digital literacy will continue to be carried out as an intellectual habituation within the framework of modern studies today. The method of writing this article uses qualitative analysis with a documentation approach and critical analysis. The results of the research in this article show that digital literacy is very important to direct the correct understanding of sexuality education in the context of Catholic marriage. Therefore, every Catholic couple must have digital literacy skills so that their marriage remains eternal as aspired by the Catholic Church.

Abstract

The world’s development which is marked by technological advances affects the general view of the basic morality of marriage. This study pays attention to the basic meaning of marriage which fails to be understood in the midst of uncertain, complex and ambiguous situations as we called VUCA. Marriage law in the Church is seen as narrowing the meaning of human relations and seizing individual freedom. The methodology used in this study is phenomenological analysis by examining data and facts related it to the meaning of marriage. This study is processed based on the morals of the Church's marriage as stated in the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church. The study found that basically marriage is a moral act that involves all human beings, both physically, psychologically, and spiritually. Thus, maintaining the basic morality of marriage is the responsibility of every individual as well as the Catholic Church in order to achieve the full meaning of marriage.

Abstract

This writing focuses on looking at the marriage of the Batak Toba society which is studied through the perspective of The Canonical Law Book of The Canon 1091. The paper methodology uses primary and secondary data collection. Primary data is obtained through interviews, while secondary data was obtained through literature review regarding the study of Toba Batak marriages and their intricacies from the perspective of the catholic church.All of data relate to the marriage norms of the catholic church and is more focused on the obstacles to marriage. Writer finds that the Mapariban marriage system in Toba society according to the canonical law book of the Catholic Church (Codex Iuris Canonici) is prohibited.

Abstract

Perkawinan adalah simbol belaskasih atau sarana yang dianugerahkan Allah kepada manusia untuk menggapai apa yang menjadi tujuan hidupnya, yakni: memuji, menghormati dan mengabdi-Nya. Orientasi dari perkawinan adalah ke- Baikan, maka dengan sendirinya perkawinan memiliki sifat yang suci dan Kudus. Dalam Gereja Katolik, kekudusan Perkawinan bisa dilihat salah satunya adalah melalui ciri perkawinan yang monogam dan tak terceraikan (Kan. 1056). Tindakan poligami, “perceraian”, dll., merupakan tanda pengingkaran terhadap kehendak dan otoritas Allah. Perkawinan harus dimaknai secara serius, dan hal ini pulalah yang terjadi dengan perkawinan Adat dalam suku Dayak Ketungau Sasaek di Kalimantan Barat. Dalam adat Dayak Ketunggau Sasaek, perkawinan dipandang sebagai sebuah anugerah berrahmat dari sang pemberi kehidupan itu sendiri. Dilihat dari tata adatnya, perkawinan adat suku Dayak Ketungau Sasaek mengandung dimensi: pertama, keilahian, maka ia dipandang sebagai anugerah Allah; kedua, kekudusan, maka harus dimaknai dan dijalani dengan sikap hormat serta keseriusan. Artikel ini bertujuan menunjukan bahwa nilai perkawinan yang terjadi di setiap agama atau suku pada dasarnya adalah kudus.
