Abstract

The purpose of this data gathering endeavor is to discern and scrutinize empirical research works that have been published in academic journals from 2010 onwards, with a specific emphasis on the execution of ecologically sustainable schools in the East Java Province. The review incorporates a range of research methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and literature review studies. The Sinta database, which is a Science and Technology Index, is employed for the purpose of conducting literature research. Through the examination of various articles, it has been determined that the introduction of ecologically sustainable schools in the region of East Java has yielded favorable results. Educational institutions have developed all-encompassing initiatives that prioritize ecological factors to cultivate and augment ecological consciousness among their constituents. The aforementioned programs comprise a range of endeavors, including but not limited to waste management, energy efficiency, preservation of biodiversity, and implementation of sustainable practices. The results emphasize the importance of the school's function and the proactive engagement of the school community in achieving an ecologically sustainable educational institution. The present literature review offers significant perspectives on the execution of ecologically sustainable schools in East Java Province and underscores the significance of incorporating environmental principles and practices into the educational milieu. The aforementioned serves as a fundamental basis for prospective investigations and bolsters the continuous endeavors towards establishing ecologically aware educational institutions that foster sustainable progress within the area.

Abstract

Kinesthetic intelligence-based thematic learning is a theme learning approach where learning activities entail more movement and physical activity (kinesthetic) using an active learning paradigm. The fact that each learner has a unique learning and information-capture potential serves as motivation for applying this knowledge. Therefore, it is crucial for teachers to present their lessons in unique and original ways so that students will readily accept them. Applying kinesthetic intelligence-based theme learning has a number of benefits, including making it simpler to directly explain subject to kids because learning includes students' physical abilities. This study aims to characterize learning, how learning is put into practice, and how thematic learning based on kinesthetic intelligence is evaluated in Baros Mandiri 3 Elementary School's second grade. A case study research design was chosen as the research methodology in this study. employing observation and interviewing as data collection methods. The findings of this study are recommendations for (1) kinesthetic intelligence-based learning planning, which comprises, and (2) kinesthetic intelligence-based theme learning implementation. (3) Kinesthetic intelligence class 2-based evaluation of thematic learning, which involves formative and daily evaluation.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the challenges faced by junior high school students in comprehending Science educations (IPA) in Teminabuan District, South Sorong Regency amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The present investigation employs a survey methodology utilizing a qualitative descriptive framework and case study analyses. The participants of this investigation were pupils enrolled in three junior high schools located in the Teminabuan District, specifically Teminabuan 1 Public Middle School, Teminabuan 2 Public Middle School, and Teminabuan Yapis Middle School. The methodology employed in this research involves the utilization of a questionnaire and documentation as the primary means of data collection. The process of data analysis involves the collection and examination of data obtained from questionnaires and documentation. The findings of the investigation into the proportion of participants' responses to a survey on the challenges encountered by students in comprehending science at the junior high school level, consisting of twenty queries responded to by ten student participants, indicated that the majority of the respondents experienced learning difficulties in the uppermost classification. This suggests that junior high school students encounter challenges in comprehending science subjects. The present study elucidates the challenges encountered by junior high school students in comprehending science education amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The present study makes a valuable contribution to the advancement of pedagogical approaches that are better suited to addressing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the context of science education.

Abstract

In a variety of disciplines taught in elementary schools, which frequently need substantial memorizing, the use of mnemonic device techniques has shown to be helpful in facilitating learning and strengthening long-term memory. This study intends to investigate how well various mnemonic device techniques and their theoretical foundations work to improve long-term memory. A literature review methodology was used to create the accumulated findings by analyzing pertinent study results, journal articles, and literature reviews that covered the studied designs. The results of this study show that mnemonic device strategies can help primary school pupils improve their long-term memory. A variety of techniques are included in the mnemonic device techniques, including (1) rhyme, (2) abbreviations, (3) peg word system, (4) loci method, and (5) keyword system. Students can maximize their brains' encoding and retrieval processes, which will boost memory retention, by using the proper mnemonic strategy during the learning process. This helps students remember and retain the information they have learnt. In conclusion, using mnemonic device approaches in primary school instruction can greatly aid pupils in developing long-term memory. As they provide useful tools to aid the learning process and improve students' memory of crucial knowledge, educators and practitioners are encouraged to incorporate these strategies into their teaching practices. The use of mnemonic techniques by students can help them overcome the difficulties associated with memorization and improve their overall learning outcomes.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the correlation between learning styles and student learning outcomes in the Limnology course within the Biology Education Study Program at FKIP UNTAD, during the odd academic year of 2021/2022. The present study employs a quantitative descriptive research methodology. The data was obtained by administering a learning style questionnaire consisting of 23 items to a sample of 30 students enrolled in the Biology Education Study Program at FKIP UNTAD. The data analysis was conducted using the Product Moment correlation test. The findings of the research indicate that during the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, all students enrolled in the Limnology elective course exhibited a preference for visual learning. Nevertheless, a diminished correlation was observed in relation to the association between learning styles and student learning outcomes. The results of this study make two distinct contributions to the current body of literature. The present study describes a taxonomy of participant learning styles, making anticipatory projections based on analogous investigations. Furthermore, this study investigates the influence of different learning styles on the achievement of learning objectives. Moreover, this study incorporates demographic data to control for its impact on educational achievements. The examination and interpretation of the findings from both analyzes will enhance scholarly comprehension of the essential determinants of success in the learning process and their tangible implementation in the field of Limnology education.

Abstract

The research began with observations in May 2023, the purpose of this study was to describe how the role playing method improves student learning outcomes on the solar system at MI Mu'awanah Muslimin Muslimat. This study uses a class action research method in four stages. Each stage has four activities, namely as follows: preparing, implementing, observing, and contemplating. With observation sheet instruments, documentation, and a ten-question essay test, the research data consisted of an analysis of quantitative descriptions of the application of the role of playing learning methods. MI Mu'awanah Muslimin Muslimat class VI students are the subject of this study. After the data was collected, qualitative and quantitative data analysis was carried out. The results showed that MI Mu'awanah Muslimin Muslimat students in Samirejo village had utilized the planning, action, observation, and reflection stages of the role-playing learning approach starting from Cycles 1 and 2. The application of the role-playing method to solar science subjects at MI Mu 'awanah Muslimin Muslimat has the potential to improve student learning outcomes, with the percentage of learning outcomes as evidenced by the class average starting at 69% in the first cycle, and increasing to 88% in the second cycle. The role playing learning method can also be used with different materials, as evidenced by the findings of published researchers and the results are quite satisfactory. Implementation in the field of Limnology education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model and Field Visit Techniques in Biotechnology learning for class IXC students of SMP Negeri 7 Sukabumi City in the 2022/2023, in terms of: (1) student learning motivation, (2) student learning outcomes in biotechnology learning by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning models and Field Visit Techniques. The research population was 25 class IXC students. The instruments used were student activity observation sheets and learning achievement tests. The data analysis technique uses a comparative descriptive analysis of test results between cycles with predetermined work indicators. The research results show that the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model in science learning for class IXC students at SMP Negeri 7 Kota Sukabumi in the 2022/2023 academic year is effectively applied in learning. This research has obtained information regarding the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model in biotechnology learning for students in IXC class, SMP Negeri 7 Sukabumi, in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

The purpose of this overview is to map the studies focused on the nature of science in the scientific Scopus journal. The nature of science (NOS) and its impact on pedagogical learning and science education have become central themes of education and research. The Study methodology used in this study is bibliometrics utilising VOS viewer. Specifically, research results analysis and coward analysis were carried out. The term NOS has ever been analyzed in the Scopus database. A total of 2756 papers were analyzed consisting of 2048 articles, 202 conference articles, 56 books, 263 book chapters, and 187 other papers were analyzed. The results report that studies in the field of education of NOS more increased and have continued uninterruptedly up to the present day, even though interest generated in the scientific community has been irregular. It can be concluded that NOS studies have not had an established and robust line of research over time, this study can be observed that the trends in this aspect are focused on science education.

Abstract

The problem with this study is that the biological learning outcomes of SMA Lab School UPI students in class XI IPA 1 remain low. The objective of this study is to enhance the biology learning outcomes of students by utilizing image-based worksheets. The researcher conducted classroom action research in two cycles in order to accomplish this goal. This study involves collaborative action research in the classroom that makes use of the Kemmis and Taggart methodology. Students in class XI IPA 1 at SMA Lab School UPI served as the research subjects. Tests, surveys, and observations are the approaches used in this study to collect data. An observation sheet serves as the research tool, and it is assessed qualitatively. Additionally, the concept mastery test results, which are analyzed quantitatively, are supplied. The study's findings indicate that, when image-based student worksheets were used, biology learning outcomes in the nervous system of the classroom were improved, with 19% of students reaching the minimum completeness limit score. Similarly, in cycle I, the average result of the concept mastery test was 77, and 61% of students met the minimum completeness limit score. The average concept mastery score increased to 85 in Cycle II, and a greater proportion of students met the 92% minimum completion criteria.

Abstract

The curriculum continues to change but the way teachers teach in teaching science, especially contextual learning does not change. This study aims to see how far the new curriculum (merdeka curriculum) can support teachers in providing contextual learning and what kind of support teachers need to implement an independent curriculum. The research method used is a case study on the learning process in driving schools and K-13 schools. The results of the observations show that there is no difference between the way teachers teach in the driving schools and the curriculum schools. Thus, other support is needed to support teachers in teaching contextual learning such as special training on contextual learning, teacher competency training, and special training to increase teacher motivation.
