Abstract

Problem Based Learning is a form of learning that gives students problems to solve, so that they can improve critical thinking skills and understanding of concepts. This research aims to apply how the application of the PBL learning model influences the learning process and students' understanding of excretory material in class 10 of SMA Negeri 4 Binjai. The research method used was direct interviews with Biology subject teachers, so that information was obtained about the implementation of PBL, its supporting factors and obstacles as well as its impact on students. The research results show that the application of PBL in learning excretory material has a positive impact on students' understanding, students become more active in both lesson and practical activities, more critical in analyzing problems, and more independent in finding solutions. Problem Based Learning adalah bentuk pembelajaran yang memberikan masalah problem kepada siswa untuk diselesaikan, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana penerapan model pembelajaran PBL mempengaruhi proses pembelajaran dan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi ekskresi pada kelas 10 SMA Negeri 4 Binjai. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu wawancara langsung dengan guru mata pelajaran Biologi, sehingga diperoleh informasi tentang pelaksanaan PBL, faktor pendukung dan kehambatannya serta dampaknya terhadap siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PBL dalam pebelajran materi ekskresi memberikan dampak yang positif kepada pemahaman siswa, siswa menjadi lebih aktif baik dalam kegiatan lestur maupun praktikum, lebih lebih kritis dalam menganalisis masalah, dan lebih mandiri dalam mencari solusi.

Abstract

Analysis of the implementation of the PjBL learning model and students' learning concentration on coordination system material at SMA Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. This research aims to analyze the application of the PjBL learning model and students' learning concentration in understanding the Coordination system learning at SMA Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. This type of research is qualitative research where an educator will be a resource person in obtaining information. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews. This research was conducted on Saturday, March 23 2024. The sample used was one of the biology subject educators and one of the class XI students.  From the results of observations and interviews with researchers, we found the following things: there are problems with students' ability to concentrate on learning during the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The learning model used does not actively involve students and teaching staff still implement teacher-centered learning. Educators use learning models that are still standard, namely lecture and discussion methods to explain the material. One of the teacher competitions to solve this problem is by using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) Learning Model. Abstrak. Analisis  penerapan model pembelajaran PjBL dan konsentrasi belajar peserta didik pada materi sistem koordinasi di SMA Negeri1 Pancur Batu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model pembelajaran PjBL dan konsentrasi belajar peserta didik dalam memahami pembelajaran sistem Koordinasi di SMA Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif bahwa seorang pendidik akan menjadi narasumber dalam memperoleh informasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara. Penelitian Ini telah dilakukan pada hari sabtu, 23 Maret 2024. Sampel yang dipakai adalah salah satu seorang tenaga pendidik mata pelajaran biologi dan salah satu ruang siswa kelas XI.  Dari hasil observasi dan wawancara peneliti, kami menemukan hal-hal sebagai berikut terdapat permasalahan pada kemampuan konsentrasi belajar siswa pada saat proses belajar mengajar di ruang kelas. Model pembelajaran yang dipakai tidak melibatkan peserta didik secara aktif dan tenaga pendidik masih menerapkan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru. Tenaga pendidik menggunakan model pembelajaran yang masih standar yaitu metode ceramah dan diskusi  untuk menjelaskan materi. Salah satu kompetisi guru untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan memakai Model Pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL).

Abstract

This study aims to identify the misconceptions experienced by grade XI high school students on osmoregulation and excretory system material, and analyze the sources that cause these misconceptions. A good understanding of the concepts in this material is very important because it is related to the physiological processes that occur in the human body. This study used descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through multiple-choice diagnostic tests through google form and in-depth interviews as well as documentation and literacy studies. The research subjects amounted to 283 grade XI students from three high schools in the West Sumatra city area, namely SMA N 1 Payakumbuh, SMA N 2 Linggo Sari Baganti, SMA N 3 Muaro Jambi, SMA N 3 South Solok, SMA N 2 Sipora Kab. Kep. Mentawai. The results showed that most students had misconceptions on concepts such as osmoregulation mechanism & Excretion System. The sources of misconceptions identified include initial misconceptions, incomplete teacher explanations, inadequate textbooks, and difficulties in visualizing complex processes. These findings form the basis for developing teaching materials that are more effective and contextualized in correcting student misconceptions. Abstract

The learning process is a communication that involves teachers, students and subject matter. Learning media is needed to clarify the material and facilitate effective interaction between teachers and students. Along with the development of technology, Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the potential learning media. AR is able to improve concept understanding with interesting and interactive 3D visualizations, such as in the human digestive system material in the Merdeka Phase F class XI curriculum. However, AR also has drawbacks such as the lack of immediate feedback and distraction for students. To overcome this, innovation is needed, for example by integrating audio and video in AR media, thus providing a more thorough and effective learning experience. This innovation can support active and collaborative inquiry-based learning, enrich student understanding, as well as facilitate dynamic formative assessment. With collaboration between educators, technology developers and policy makers, the challenges of AR implementation can be overcome. The integration of this technology in education has the potential to improve the quality of learning and the development of 21st century skills such as creativity and problem solving. Abstract

This literature research explores the role of education in creating quality human resources, with a focus on the importance of critical thinking skills in the context of biology learning. The aim of Indonesian national education is to develop the abilities, quality and dignity of human life. In this era of changing education systems, learning is expected to be student-centered with an emphasis on 4C skills, including critical thinking abilities. The importance of critical thinking skills in dealing with continuously flowing information is easy to realize, especially in the context of biology learning. However, there are still many challenges, such as the lack of conditions that support students to think critically and the perception of the difficulty of learning biology. One of the approaches proposed to improve students' critical thinking skills is through a problem-based learning model, especially Problem Based Learning (PBL). This research describes the results of analysis from various literature articles that support the effectiveness of PBL in improving students' critical thinking abilities. By hypothesis testing, homogeneity testing, and normality testing, this research concludes that the implementation of PBL significantly improves students' critical thinking skills. PBL stages, such as deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, evaluation, analysis, and decision making, provide an effective framework in developing students' critical thinking skills. PBL emerged as an effective solution to improve students' critical thinking skills in biology learning. Implementation of this model not only provides opportunities for students to solve problems, but also encourages them to think analytically and be active in the learning process. This research provides empirical support for the positive role of PBL in overcoming the challenges of biology learning and advancing students' critical thinking skills. Abstrak. Penelitian literatur ini mengeksplorasi peran pendidikan dalam menciptakan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas, dengan fokus pada pentingnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam konteks pembelajaran biologi. Tujuan pendidikan nasional Indonesia adalah mengembangkan kemampuan, mutu dan harkat dan martabat hidup manusia. Di era perubahan sistem pendidikan ini, pembelajaran diharapkan berpusat pada siswa dengan penekanan pada keterampilan 4C, termasuk kemampuan berpikir kritis. Pentingnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam menghadapi informasi yang terus mengalir mudah disadari, terutama dalam konteks pembelajaran biologi. Namun masih banyak tantangan yang dihadapi, seperti kurangnya kondisi yang mendukung siswa untuk berpikir kritis dan persepsi akan sulitnya pembelajaran biologi. Salah satu pendekatan yang diusulkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa adalah melalui model pembelajaran berbasis masalah khususnya Problem Based Learning (PBL). Penelitian ini memaparkan hasil analisis dari berbagai artikel literatur yang mendukung efektivitas PBL dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Melalui uji hipotesis, uji homogenitas, dan uji normalitas, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Tahapan PBL seperti penalaran deduktif, penalaran induktif, evaluasi, analisis, dan pengambilan keputusan memberikan kerangka kerja yang efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. PBL muncul sebagai solusi efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi. Penerapan model ini tidak hanya memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk memecahkan masalah, tetapi juga mendorong mereka untuk berpikir analitis dan aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini memberikan dukungan empiris terhadap peran positif PBL dalam mengatasi tantangan pembelajaran biologi dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

Industrial Revolution 4.0 requires the world of education to adapt to technology. One way to improve the quality of learning is to develop innovative learning media, such as interactive e-modules in the form of flipbooks. This research aims to develop an excretion system material e-module and analyze the suitability of the media, analyze teacher and student perceptions and the validity of the module. This research uses the R&D method using the ADDIE development model which consists of (1) Analyze, (2) Design, (3) Develop, (4) Implementation and (5) Evaluation. The types of data in this research are qualitative and quantitative data. Data collection uses material validation questionnaires, media validation, teachers and students. The tests were analyzed using SPSS 27 software. The test subjects were students and teachers of SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. The results show that the e-module product in the form of a flipbook on excretory system material can be used in the learning process. The e-module feasibility results were obtained through material and media validation, material validation was carried out three times with a percentage of 90% and media validation was carried out twice with a percentage of 90%, both of which were in the "very feasible" category. The results of students' perceptions of small group trials obtained a percentage of 75.41% in the "good" category and large group trials obtained a percentage of 90.25% in the "very good" category. The results of the biology teacher's perception obtained a percentage of 95% in the "very appropriate" category. The results of the effectiveness test using a paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) with an average N-gain score of 0.46, which is included in the "medium" category and has an influence on students' cognitive abilities. It can be concluded that the development of interactive e-modules in the form of a flipbook, it is suitable for use as teaching material and can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes. Abstrak. Revolusi Industri 4.0 menuntut dunia pendidikan untuk beradaptasi dengan teknologi. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran adalah dengan mengembangkan media pembelajaran yang inovatif, seperti e-modul interaktif berbentuk flipbook. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e modul materi sistem ekskresi dan menganalisis kelayakan media,menganalisis persepsi guru dan peserta didik serta validitas modul. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode R&D dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri (1) Analyze, (2) Design, (3) Develop, (4) Implementation dan (5) Evaluation. Jenis data pada penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket validasi materi, validasi media, guru dan peserta didik. Tes yang dianalisis menggunakan software SPSS 27. Subjek uji coba yaitu peserta didik dan guru SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. Hasil menunjukan bahwa produk e-modul berbentuk flipbook materi sistem ekskresi dapat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil Kelayakan e-modul diperoleh melalui validasi materi dan media, validasi materi dilakukan tiga kali dengan persentase 90%  dan validasi media dilakukan dua kali dengan persentase 90%,keduanya berada pada kategori “sangat layak”. Hasil persepsi peserta didik uji coba kelompok kecil diperoleh persentase 75,41% dengan kategori “baik” dan uji coba kelompok besar diperoleh persentase sebesar 90,25% dengan kategori “sangat baik”. Hasil persepsi guru biologi diperoleh persentase 95% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Hasil uji efektivitas menggunakan paired sample t-test diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (< 0,05) dengan rata-rata N-gain skor 0,46 termasuk kedalam kategori “sedang” dan berpengaruh dalam kognitif siswa  dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan e-modul interaktif berbentuk flipbook layak digunakan sebagai bahan ajar dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik.
