Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition aims to publish high-quality researches and outstanding creative works combining the broad fields of literature and linguistics on the same intellectual platform. Article contains field study, case study, library research, and others. The article must be relevant with current issues in the scope of oral tradition. Those different segments that will be featured in each issue of Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition are: (i) critical writings on literary, (ii) cultural and linguistics studies, and (iii) creative writings that include works of prose fiction and selections of poetry related to the oral tradition. Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition invites scholars and writers to submit high-quality written works presenting original researches with profound ideas and insightful thoughts that could potentially inaugurate avenues to new perspectives in the fields of language, literature and culture.

Abstract

Masyarakat Dawan di wilayah Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) memiliki kekayaan berupa cerita rakyat. Pewarisan cerita rakyat secara turun temurun telah mengalami pergeseran karena kurangnya intensitas bertutur lintas generasi. Cerita rakyat seperti legenda semakin jarang didengar generasi muda di desa-desa termasuk di wilayah kecamatan Kie, TTS. Inventarisasi legenda di Kecamatan Kie sangat dibutuhkan sebagai Langkah awal dokumentasi cerita rakyat. Penelitian terkait cerita rakyat di Kecamatan Kie sejauh ini belum ada. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah  menemukan langkah-langkah inventarisasi cerita legenda dan menemukan jenis cerita rakyat berupa legenda di wilayah Kie. Adapun tujuan menginventarisasi jenis cerita rakyat legenda di Kecamatan Kie dengan menggunakan metode penelitian di tempat (field research). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya 14 cerita legenda di wilayah Kie  yakni Legenda Belle, Legenda Boti, Legenda Eno Napi, Legenda Falas, Legenda Fatukusi, Legenda Fatuulan, Legenda Naile’u, Legenda Pili, Legenda Oenai, Legenda Oe Kie, Legenda Oinlasi, Legenda Tesiayofanu, Legenda Usif Gunawan, dan Legenda Kaes Soinbala.

Abstract

Abstrak: Dalam penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendiskripsikan struktur dalam cerita rakyat Dukuh Tuksongo di Desa Geneng Kecamatan Batealit Kabupaten Jepara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian terstruktur dalam cerita rakyat dengan pendekatan metode etnografi. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, didapatkan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, perekaman, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam cerita rakyat Dukuh Tuksongo di Desa Geneng Kecamatan Batealit Kabupaten jepara terdiri dari nilai sosial atau kemasyarakatan, nilai kesusilaan dan budi pekerti serta nilai moral. Selain itu, perlu adanya kesesuaian memilih cerita rakyat kepada anak yang harus diperhatikan dan disesuaikan dengan kondisi anak. Kesesuaian tersebut meliputi kesesuaian literal dan moral anak. Kata kunci: Struktur, dan Cerita Rakyat

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan ritual kehamilan sebagai bagian dari daur hidup masyarakat Sunda. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian antropolinguistik dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya tahapan dalam prosesi kehamilan, yaitu (1) Upacara salamatan tilu bulanan; (2) Upacara salamatan lima bulanan; (3) Upacara tingkeban (salamatan tujuh bulanan); (4) Upacara salamatan salapan bulanan; (5) Upacara reuneuh mundingeun (mengandung lebih dari sembilan bulan). Ritual ini juga memiliki fungsi sosial yaitu sebagai (1) sarana ucapan syukur, (2) pemberitahuan kepada lingkungan, dan (3) peringatan untuk mawas terhadap pamali.

Abstract

Abstract: Dhukutan is one of the folklore treasures of the Lawu Highlands community which still exists and is commemorated to this day. So far, the Dhukutan folklore has been able to raise the name of the Nglurah area as a tourist destination with artifacts in the form of Menggung Temple and its rich flora as well as souvenirs for tourists. However, in the midst of the never-ending storm of the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea began to appear to package the traditional dhukutan ceremony into digital form. By packaging in a documentary film format, Dhukutan folklore is expected to be able to raise and introduce the local wisdom of the Tawangmangu community. Thus, packaging folklore into a documentary film will be a challenge for young creators and filmmakers. Given the steep and sloped shooting location. In addition, the Dhukutan ceremony itself takes 3 days and 4 nights. Of course, all of this needs to be carefully considered for the prospective producers who will handle the Dhukutan documentary. However, at least the presence of a Dhukutan documentary will enrich and give its color to the film industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sastra lisan masyarakat Uab Meto belum banyak didokumentasikan utamanya sastra lisan yang bersifat nonritual. Padahal, Uab Meto adalah suku terbesar di daratan Timor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji salah satu ragam sastra lisan Uab meto yang bersifat non-ritual dan dituturkan dalam interaksi pergaulan sehari-hari, yaitu Heta. Penelitian ini menelaah struktur dan fungsi Heta sebagai sebuah puisi lama. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data secara pustaka dan wawancara. Analisis yang dilakukan dapat mengungkapkan bahwa Heta dibagi dua, yaitu Heta sebagai teka-teki dan sebagai peribahasa. Kekhasan Heta ada pada homofon yang digunakan sebagai repetisi. Fungsi Heta di tengah masyarakat Uab Meto adalah simbol keakraban dan juga peranti pemberian nasihat secara tersirat.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to: (1) describe the physical structure of the mantra poem "Jampe Nyeuri Beuteung" in Sundanese culture, (2) describe the inner structure of the mantra poem "Jampe Nyeuri Beuteung" in Sundanese culture. The method of analyzing the research data is descriptive qualitative. The results show that in the Jampe Nyeuri Beuteung mantra poetry there is a physical and mental structure. The physical structure of the mantra includes word choice (diction), figurative language, imagery, rhyme, rhythm, typography. The inner structure of the mantra is the theme of healing, having a weak feeling due to pain, spoken in a tense tone, aiming to treat stomachaches, and the message contains that the person who casts the mantra hopes that he will be given a cure for illness. Poetry as learning material in Indonesian subjects can provide added value in the student learning process.

Abstract

Abstract: Padelegan Village is one of the villages located in Pademawu sub-district, North Sumatra regency Pamekasan. One example of ritual communication is Petik Laut. Petik Laut is a ritual that occurs in fishing communities.Petik Laut is a tradition that involves communication during the program. Petik Laut is a culture of local wisdom and is carried out from generation to generation. Petik Laut is held as a form of gratitude to those in power for the sustenance that has been given. Communication events (communicative event), the basis of which aims to explain the words in detail, describe in other words the analysis of events is a basic communication activity. The communication event has 8 components called SPEAKING. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with ethnographic research design. The method was chosen based on the fact that the relationship between the categories and the data in this study will only be highlighted and explained in detail by the method.

Abstract

Tradisi lisan Nizom Kanak-Kanak adalah nyanyian yang disampaikan pada acara turun mandi bayi yang telah lepas pusatnya. Dalam nyanyian tersebut. terkandung banyak pesan dan harapan orang tua kepada si bayi kelak setelah dewasa, serta  mengandung pesan  moral yang akan membentuk karakter anak dimasa yang akan datang. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pesan moral apa saja yang terdapat dalam Nizom Kanak-Kanak. Pesan moral tersebut dapat diungkapkan menggunakan lapis-lapis  norma yang diungkapkan oleh Wellek dan Warren. Lapis-lapis norma yang akan dipaparkan pada analisis berikut hanya analisis dari lapis  arti (units of meaning).  Karena hanya lapis ini yang terdapat dalam Nizom. Dengan menggunakan metode tersebut ditemukan beberapa pesan moral dalam bentuk  nilai-nilai karakter. berupa  nilai religius, peduli sosial, dan toleran. Nilai-nilai kebaikan yang terdapat dalam Nizom ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bekal bagi si anak untuk menjadi anak yang baik,  hormat kepada yang lebih tua, sayang kepada yang lebih muda dan santun dalam berperilaku.

Abstract

Abstract: Humor knows no social class and can come from various aspects of life. Humor is a way of giving birth to a thought, either in words (verbally) or in another way that describes an invitation that creates sympathy and entertainment. The data studied in this study came from the written variety of Sundanese. The data selected in this study are limited, namely verbal humor discourse, in terms of presentation it is written humor discourse, and in terms of topic it is a type of social humor. The data were taken from Sundanese humorous discourse, namely the book Kumpulan Guguyon Sabulangbentor 1–7 by Taufik Faturohman (2007). There are various violations of pragmatic principles, namely the principle of cooperation in the social humor data in question, including violations of the maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. Violation of the cooperative principle is an attempt by the creator of humor to bring about a funny effect.
