Abstract

Discussing about Physical Education Health and Recreation study program’s curriculum2002 Sport Science Faculty Yogyakarta State University from content of curriculum andpurpose of study program dimension has aim to give a new perspective that physicaleducation and sport carrer is not only to be a physical education teacher in school. Careeropportunity that related with physical education and sport in society is various, even physicaleducation graduates could create their own career based in their academic potential andwhat they want. This perspective has a deep target. Implementation this perspective iscomplecated process. Thus, preparing of curriculum has to do as soon as possible.Identifying of career opportunity of physical education and sports graduates able to use asa consideration to improve physical education and sport curriculum.Kata Kunci: career, physical education, sport.

Abstract

Curriculum is a reference to implement learning programme in achieving organization’sgoals. While goal of an organization is affected by current situation, and therefore, curriculummust be contextualize with the need of the latest situation. If the curriculum no longer cananswer the need of the organization, there is a demand of change. However, changes arenot always bring good impact; it is also have negative effects. Changes can be divided inthree phases: initiation phase, legitimating phase, and congruence phase. While the levelof changes can be small and limited (partial) or wide and basis (holistic). Working step onthe curriculum changes process include: identify the needs of changes on curriculum,mobilizing a curriculum changes, study on problems and need of community, study oncharacteristics and need of students, formulating educational goal, establishing learningactivity and subject matter, organize learning experience and planning of subject unit, testthe new curriculum, implementation of the new curriculum, evaluation and revision. Mainthing to be emphasized in the curriculum changes is the basic reason of curriculum changes,policy on education, educational programme, and other variable that affect the education.To avoid negative effect of the curriculum changes, therefore a systematically process ofcurriculum changes must be considered.Keywords: changes and curriculum changes.

Abstract

Several things of the success indicators for the learning process of physical education areknowledge and deep understanding from the physical education teacher on characteristicsof the student’s growth and development. The physical education teacher’s understandingon those matters will contribute to the effectivity on choosing and determining activities tothe students. It also has more benefits in choosing and determining appropriate methodand strategy of learning. Several characteristics of growth and development that physicaleducation teachers should be aware are physical growth and development aspects, motorskill development, social-personality development, cognitive, emotion and moral.Keywords: characteristics of growth and development, physical education learning.

Abstract

Curriculum is important component in education and learning process. Every educationpractice always refer to the current curriculum, in order to have clear goals and direction oneducation. On the fast changing world of globalization and challenges that follow, there is aneed to create an education that fit with the needs of current situation. Depdiknas has cometo the answer by planning and formulating a set of reference tools for educational practiceto develop every aspects of education which include knowledge, skill, and attitude. This hasbeen implemented in every stage and type of education. This tool is known as competencebased curriculum or Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK). Competence basedcurriculum in 2004 has been officially become reference to every formal education practicestarting from elementary education until high education. This curriculum consists of basicframework of 2004 curriculum, standard learning materials and standard subject mattercompetence which all is arranged on each subject on each education unit. According to2004 curriculum, improvement effort of this curriculum is aim to increase quality andrelevance education that has to be done in a comprehensive way. Referring on theimplementation of competence based curriculum on 2004, PJKR-FIK-UNY programmestudy as the institution to create educational experts should start to organize, assess andevaluate itself. Question raised is that curriculum of 2002 that are currently being use byPhysical Science Faculty, especially programme study PJKR, still relevant with the currentsituation? Is the goal, content and material on the curriculum can help students to face thefree competency on the education? Abstract

The expectation outcome of physical education health and recreation program (PJKR) FIKUNY as a physical educator teacher has four competence, that is (1) mastery of study area,(2) understanding of students, (3) mastery of educative learning, and (4) personalitydevelopment and professionalism. To be able to fulfill the competence standard andcertification as a beginner teacher it needed of some subject matter. The outcome target ofPJKR FIK UNY are saleable and competence in market work on their area. Because of thatrequire to supply by various skill and knowledge supporting the profession and duty as ateacher of physical education later. Pursuant to curriculum of PJKR 2002 there are somesubject matter less owning of relevance to candidate profession and duty as physical educator.On the contrary, there are some subject matter which still less of SKS and subject matterwhich ought to there is not yet written in curriculum PJKR 2002. Therefore, curriculum PJKR2002 specially and FIK UNY in general require to evaluate and studied to fulfill the competencestandard demand and certification as a beginner teacher of physical education.Keyword: PJKR 2002 curricullum, graduate competency.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aim to give description on 2002 curriculum development of PhysicalEducation Programme Study, Health and Recreation (PJKR Programme study), FIK UNYthrough analyzing major-minor curriculum system, a curriculum which is effective on thetime of FPOK or Sport and Health Education Faculty of IKIP Yogyakarta, founder of FIKUNY. This curriculum was known as 1992 curriculum or flexible curriculum even it wasmade before Competence Based Curriculum. Abstract

Abstract. PJKR 2002 curriculum was made with goals to prepare teachers with capability ofacademic and professional in physical education that can integrate teaching education,education science, physical science, learning science, and have personality andprofessional skill to bring education and teaching process. Ditjen Dikti has four competencecomponents as the requirement for physical education teacher: (1) Mastering subject matter,(2) Understanding of the students, (3) Mastering good educational learning process, and(4) Development of personality and professionalism. Competence aspects of no.1,2 and 3has been well accommodate in 2002 curriculum. However, the competence aspects no.4which is development of personality and professionalism has not been accommodate (in away that it is taught in related subject matter to accomplish it). However, this aspects needspecial attention due to 10 competence of its breakdown is an important base to contributeto personal development. Several activities can be done are: optimizing certain subjectmatter teaching process, to integrate the competence achievement to certain subject matter,intensive partnership with lecturer from outside POR major, have conditions of certainphysical condition, etc. There are many homework to do but there are a priority to beestablish.Keyword: teacher, physical education, competence, professional.

Abstract

A curriculum is a blue print of education output. Curriculum must bring awareness to studentsof their self reality and their surroundings. If the content of the curriculum cannot conveythose awareness, it will only make education an alienation process for students. This articletries to analyze 2002 PJKR curriculum from the view of content, its logical system, andparameter of output. This analyzes refer to Fernandez Balboa writing that analyze andcompare several trends in Physical Education curriculum worldwide. From the analyzeshows that 2002 PJKR similar with traditional curriculum which emphasize on bio scientific.Positivism paradigm in 2002 PJKR can influence sensitivity of student’s analyzing skill insocial reality and social changes. This will contribute to produce students, that in the futurewill be teachers, will merely only become distribution agent of knowledge. They cannotbecome a social transformation agent. Therefore, there is need to change 2002 PJKRcurriculum to include subject matter that can train student’s critical ability and sensitivity onsocial reality.Keyword: curriculum, critical study, social reality, teacher, transformative.

Abstract

Curriculum is one of the importance components other then human resources andinfrastructure in the effort on providing high quality graduate. Update on the curriculumcontinuously is necessary to follow the demand of market and stakeholders which changeaccording to the current situation of society and global development. Learning tools forPJKR FIK UNY students use the PJKR 2002 curriculum need to be evaluated and updatedwith the society demand and development of education vision to implement competencebased curriculum. Several aspects to be brought in attention among others is adaptationwith overall juridical based: UU no.20, 2003 on national education system, SK MendiknasNo. 232/U/2000 on curriculum development and learning measurement, SK Mendiknas no045/U/2002 on core curriculum of high education, and PP No.19 2005 on national educationstandard. Strategic actions to be brought is: (a) reconstruction of vision, mission and goalsof physical education programme study, (b) re-formulate pure science subject to relevantrelated subject with competence demand, (c) explore relevance competence with societyand stakeholders need, (d) adapt common ground curriculum pattern with actual competencedemand, (e) to reduce and if necessary erase uniformity of curriculum.Keywords: competence based curriculum, PJKR, re-formulate, uniformity.

Abstract

Abstract: The structure of S-1 PJKR programme study curriculum in 2002 FIK curriculumshows that it doesn’t reflect the importance of physical education teacher’s competence andit has not been facilitate society need (stakeholders). The existance of several law tools andbasic reference in formulating LPTK curriculum shows that there is need to form a curriculumbased on the competence and society need. Establishment of teacher and lecture law (UUGuru dan Dosen) has given significant meaning of competence and society need in theprocess of creating a curriculum for future teachers. Therefore, there is a concern to restructurethe S-1 PJKR programme study curriculum to contextualize with competence and societyneed. It can start with changing the name of the programme study into S-1 physical educationprogramme study. In afterwards the process of programme study has to be contextualizingwith the education degree (elementary, middle, etc). Vision, mission and goals of eachprogramme still need to be reviewed. The last thing is changing the subject matter groupingbased on the basic competence and society need.Keywords: curriculum, structure, relevance, competence, society need.
