Abstract

Background: Orthodontic treatment is a treatment that aims to correct malrelation and malformations to restore masticatory function, esthetics and obtain a good arrangement of teeth to achieve proper occlusion. The bracket is a component in orthodontic treatment that functions as a force conductor. The use of a bracket with a type of stainless steel material has several advantages such as an economical price, corrosion resistance, and high strength, but the habit of consuming carbonated drinks in stainless steel bracket users can cause the release of Ni ions, which can trigger hypersensitivity reactions in some person. Information is needed regarding the relationship between the release of Ni ions on a stainless steel bracket soaked in carbonated drinks to type IV hypersensitivity reactions, especially to an increase in the number of neutrophil cells. Method: The design of this study used a post-test group design using a sample of 10 male Wistar rats which were divided into 2 groups (n = 5), namely the treatment group and the control group. Calculation of the number of neutrophils using histopathological observations with Hematoxylin-Eosin staining using an electric microscope with 400x magnification. Result: The average number of neutrophils in the treatment group was 4.14 and the control group was 1.04. Statistical tests using the Welch T-Test showed significant differences between the two groups (P

Abstract

Background: People with HIV/AIDS experience stigma which results in social devaluation in various ways. Stigma received in the form of prejudice, shame, isolation, rejection, and discrimination against people who are believed to have the disease. Prejudice and discriminatory behavior on the part of dental health care workers are significant barriers to normal dental health care for people living with HIV/AIDS. A measuring tool to determine the stigma of HIV/AIDS in dental and oral health care, using instrument Dentistry and HIV/AIDS Stigma scale. The instrument used English as the introduction. The researcher wants to translate the instrument into the Indonesian version and determine the validity and reliability of the instrument. Method: The validity and reliability test used a sample of 50 people with HIV/AIDS, using non-probability sampling and consecutive sampling techniques. The research stages were instrument translation, instrument back translation, validity test with test Pearson correlation (r count > r table) and reliability test by looking at the value Cronbach alpha (> 0.7). Result: At the translation stage there were several word changes with adaptation and cultural adjustments in Indonesia. The validity test stage showed the correlation value of each item was greater than 0.278 and the reliability stage showed the Cronbach alpha value of 0.897 which was greater than 0.7. Conclusion: It can be concluded that instrument Dentistry And HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale Indonesian version valid and reliable, to be used to measure the perceptions and attitudes of people with HIV/AIDS towards the dental and oral health services they receive.

Abstract

Background: Coronavirus disease is a respiratory disease caused by SARSCoV2, a new type of virus. COVID-19 infection can occur during dental surgery and possibly inhalation of aerosols or droplets containing the virus. One element of the success of health institutions is the compliance of health workers in carrying out health procedures during a pandemic. The large number of COVID-19 cases at Indonesian dentists requires the implementation of Health Guidelines in health care institutions. This study aims to determine the effect of the health protocol compliance factor of the Puskesmas dentists in Pekanbaru City during the COVID-19 outbreak.Method: This study used an analytic observational approach, quantitative research methodology, and a cross-sectional design on 21 dentists who work actively in public health centers in Pekanbaru City. The data analysis technique used univariate and bivariate analysis using Alternative Fisher's Exact Test.Result: The results showed there is a difference between the availability of infrastructure for compliance was statistically tested on two factors with a p value of less than 0.05 (P=0.048.) as many as 95.2% of dentists comply with health regulations. Conclusion: The conclusion of the study There was a relationship between the availability of facilities and infrastructure and the dentist's compliance with health procedures at the puskesmas in Pekanbaru City during the pandemic.

Abstract

Background: Transmission in radiology facilities must be prevented by taking additional infection control precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of variables, including knowledge and attitudes, affect how an action is applied. The association between dentistry professional students’ knowledge and attitudes about the COVID-19 pandemic infection control protocol at the RSIGM Sultan Agung radiology installation is to be evaluated. Method: Analytic-observational research was used in this case, with a cross-sectional analysis of 139 samples. Validity and reliability tests have been done on the questionnaire. This study was conducted online using Google Forms for data collection, and SPSS 25 was used for the correlation test. Result: The results of the analysis show a significant correlation with a positive direction. Correlation strength (r) 0.263 indicates a weak correlation strength between the two variables. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between these two variables. The implementation of infection control procedures at the Sultan Agung RSIGM radiology installation during pandemic COVID-19 from a knowledge and attitude perspective was still imperfect.
