Abstract

Upper airway obstruction is a blockage in the larynx caused by inflammation, foreign bodies, trauma, tumors so that ventilation is disrupted. One of the causes is hemangioma, which is the most common soft tissue tumor in newborns. In the state of hemangiomas, sometimes also found a syndrome in the form of Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome. As many as 20% of patients with KMS exhibit unusual symptoms compared to cutaneous hemangiomas. Clinical symptoms that can occur in upper respiratory tract obstruction include hoarseness, dysphony to aphony, shortness of breath (dyspnea), stridor (breath sounds) inspiration, suprasternal, epigastric, supraclavicular and intercostal retractions on inspiration. Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome is rare because the diagnosis is often delayed. KMS is more common in boys than girls. Ultrasound examination, Computer Tomography (CT) Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can help to determine the nature and extent of the lesion and identify the involvement of organs in the body. Extensive bleeding in KMS can cause consumptive coagulopathy that occurs due to excessive use of coagulation factors such as fibrinogen. Coagulopathy will progress to Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) and even death. From this condition, the patient also experienced bronkopneumonia which is an acute infection of the lungs affecting the lung lobules starting from the lung parenchyma which can be caused by various etiologies such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and foreign bodies. This is because patients have a susceptibility to infection due to their condition.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease caused by the pancreas gland being unable to produce glucose-regulating hormone (insulin) and causing hyperglycemia. PERKENI attaches that Indonesia has experienced an increase in ranking from 7th to 5th with the highest number of diabetics in the world. If diabetes mellitus is not treated seriously, there will be microvascular complications that trigger coronary heart disease due to the buildup of cholesterol in the blood vessels. This study aims to determine whether there is a long-standing relationship with type 2 diabetes mellitus and blood sugar levels with total cholesterol levels in the outpatient polyclinic of Pertamina Bintang Amin Husada Hospital Bandar Lampung in 2021. The type of this study was observational analytic with cross sectional method using purposive sampling. as many as 83 samples of type 2 DM patients who met the inclusion criteria. Based on the results of the study with a total of 83 samples, the majority of the sexes were female 48 people (57.8%), age >45 years were 59 people (71.1%), duration of suffering >1 year were 57 (68.7%), levels of blood sugar when (GDS) <200 mg/dl as many as 42 people (50.6%). And cholesterol levels > 200 mg/dl as many as 62 people (74.7%). The results of the Spearman correlation between the length of suffering from type 2 diabetes and total cholesterol obtained p = 0.037 and r = + 0.229. In the results of the Spearman correlation, the relationship between blood sugar levels and total cholesterol obtained a value of p = 0.000 and r = + 0.394, because the value of p = 0.000 and p = 0.037 <0.05 so that it can be stated that there is a significant relationship between variables

Abstract

Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous follicles that can heal itself with multifactorial causes and has several clinical features in the form of acne, comedones, papules, pustules, nodes, and cysts. Factors causing the appearance of acne vulgaris are usually influenced by bacterial infection, excessive use of cosmetics, hormones and lack of hygiene. Performing facial hygiene can reduce bacteria or microorganisms from the skin surface by reducing sebum and dirt without removing the lipid barrier of the skin so as to reduce AV symptoms

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic or long-term condition that occurs due to high blood sugar levels caused by the inability of the pancreas to be able to produce enough insulin or even unable to produce insulin. The number of uncomplicated type 2 DM patients who were hospitalized at Pertamina Bintang Amin Husada Hospital Bandar Lampung in the January-October 2021 was 497 patients. This observational analytic study with cross sectional method used a total sampling of 30 samples of type 2 DM patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data collection began in January 2022. Data were evaluated by chi-square test. The research sample was 30 patients with type 2 DM with a duration of suffering >5 years as many as 15 patients and <5 years as many as 15 patients, with a mean blood sugar level (GDS) of 223, the lowest GDS 87 and the highest GDS 530. The mean creatinine level of patients Type 2 diabetes mellitus out of 30 respondents was 0.9 with the lowest creatinine level 0.2 and the highest 3.2. The results of the chi-square correlation between the length of suffering from type 2 diabetes and creatinine levels obtained p value = 0.048, because the p value = 0.048 <0.05 so it can be stated that there is a relationship. In the results of the chi-square correlation between blood sugar levels and creatinine levels, the p value = 0.060, because the p value = 0.060 > 0.05, it can be stated that there is no significant correlation between blood sugar levels and creatinine levels in type 2 DM patients.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition when a person has systolic blood pressure 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure 90 mmHg, on repeated examinations. The main blood pressure measurement that is the basis for determining the diagnosis of hypertension is diastolic blood pressure measurement. Hypertension with obesity is still very common. The prevalence of hypertension accompanied by obesity is also still increasing today. According to several studies, obesity and hypertension have a significant relationship. There are several explanations that patients who have a BMI with obesity will have a risk of 1.64 times to suffer from hypertension compared to BMI. Research Objectives To determine the correlation between body mass index degrees with blood pressure at public health center of Simpur in Bandar Lampung 2021. This type of research is quantitative research. With the analytical survey method using cross sectional design, through questionnaires given online to respondents who meet the inclusion criteria. Sample obtained was 97 respondents. The degree of blood pressure with the highest number of respondents was the degree of hypertension level 2 systolic >160 as many as 51 people (52.6%), the most age group were adult patients with an age range of 20-59 years as many as 66 people (68%), the degree of body mass index The highest number was obesity level 2 30 as many as 61 people (62.9%), the relationship between the degree of body mass index and the degree of blood pressure was mostly obesity level 2 with blood pressure of hypertension level 2 as many as 35 people (32.1%). Abstract

The tremendous increase in infections caused by viruses and their mortality rate has demanded producing effective and safe antiviral drugs. Symptomatic treatment and immune enhancement are the most efficient methods because no specific drugs are available for every viral disease. Several naturally occurring compounds available have demonstrated antiviral potential in preventing and debilitating viral diseases. A nutrient-rich diet can help reduce many viral infections. Nutrients such as vitamins (vitamins A, D, C, E, B6, and B12) and elemental groups provide the highest nutritional value for all body systems, including bones, cardiovascular, liver, skin, and support immunity. This research provides information on dietary-based scientific recommendations, evidence, and case studies worldwide concerning a particular focus on viral infections. In this study, the use of bioactive compounds in viral mechanisms, particularly SARS and respiratory viral infections, will be discussed, which may help in facilitating preintervention either directly as supplements/fortified foods or in combination with pharmaceutical drugs. This research method reviews the immune potential in the content of dietary supplements based on laboratory studies and human research through international journals, trusted websites, and books in the last ten years. The result is that bioactive compounds such as vitamins, elements, and minerals with proven antiviral properties, in addition to pharmaceutical drugs themselves as dietary supplements, have been shown to play an important role in treating various infections caused by viruses and strengthening the immune system.

Abstract

Stroke is a disorder due to focal or global brain function disorders that occur triggered by cerebrovascular disorders. Stroke is characterized by paralysis of the face or limbs, difficulty speaking, decreased consciousness, and visual disturbances. Stroke is the number 2 cause of death in the world, which is about 6 million deaths every year. Recently, stroke does not only occur in the elderly population, but also in the productive age. This article is a literature compiled to analyze the risk factors associated with the incidence of stroke in productive age. The references used are articles published between 2016-2022. There are 4 main risk factors for stroke in productive age, namely hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and lifestyle. Each factor plays a role in increasing the risk of stroke with its own mechanism. There is no difference between stroke risk factors in the productive age and the general population.

Abstract

Congenital heart disease (CHD) or congenital heart disease is an abnormality of the structure and function of the cardiac circulation at birth. Congenital heart disease is divided into two, namely cyanotic and acyanotic. Acyanotic CHD is divided into two, namely acyanotic CHD with shunts for example ASD (Atrial Septal Defect), VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) and PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) and acyanotic CHD without shunts, examples are pulmonary stenosis. ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) is a congenital birth defect in the form of a hole in the interatrial septum that occurs due to failure of interatrial septal fusion during the fetus and is followed by pulmonary venous flow that enters the left atrium and then passes through the right atrium. Infertility is said to be primary infertility if previously a married couple failed to get pregnant after one year postpartum or post- abortion without using any contraception. Mrs. F, 33 years old, was taken to Abdu Moeloek Hospital by her family on February 6, 2022 with complaints of shortness of breath that worsened 1 day before being admitted to the hospital. A history of shortness of breath and fainting has been experienced since the patient was a teenager and was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Vaginal toucher examination revealed anterior portio, bud opening, 25% flattening, membranes could not be assessed, cephalic presentation, Hodge II decline and pointers could not be assessed. The diagnosis in this patient was G1P0A0 39 weeks pregnant with Atrial Septal Defect and Primary Infertility 6 years. The management of this patient is observation of vital signs, administration of pharmacological therapy in the form of furosemide and sildenafil and vaginal delivery.
