Abstract

Abstract  Suicide notes are messages left by people who have committed suicide or plan to commit suicide. These written messages express the victims' thoughts and emotions that they could not assert since they were alive. As a result, the purpose of this descriptive study is to investigate the characteristics of linguistic features of suicide notes written by eleven well-known male individuals. The method used in this study is qualitative content analysis. The data came from suicide notes written by eleven well-known males. These notes were available online. The researchers read, categorized, and explained the data consisting of five linguistic features of suicide notes: clear reasoning, expressing emotion, structure text, grammar, and punctuation. The findings revealed that all of the linguistic items were present in the suicide notes of very well individuals. The characteristics of clear reasoning were the most frequently observed because it informs readers of the victims' point of view about the reasons that led to their suicide. While the absence of hesitation and form of location occurred on an odd event. Finally, the findings of this study may aid future research into the study of suicide notes in forensic linguistics, the use of linguistics in data analysis, or legal issues Keywords :suicide notes; characteristics; linguistic features; forensic linguistics

Abstract

ABSTRACTPodcast on developing listening comprehension of EFL Learners (An Experimental Study at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014?This research is aimed at finding out whether: (1) Podcast is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening skill at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014, (2) In what way does the effect of podcast influence listening comprehension of EFL learners for the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of  2013/2014?The method which was applied in this research was experimental study. It was conducted at the eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014.  The population of the research is the IX.A Grade Students of eleventh students of SMAN 1 Sikur in the school years of 2013/2014  . The sample was 1 class. In taking the sample, a cluster random sampling technique was used. Each class was divided into two groups (Experimental and control groups). Then, the techniques which were used to collect the data were an intelligence test for getting the data of the students’ intelligence and a multiple choice test for getting the data of the students’ listening comprehension. The instruments were tried out to get valid and reliable items. The data were analyzed by using multifactor analysis of ANOVA 2x2 and tukey test.Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in general podcast technique is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening. For the students who have high or low intelligence, podcast technique is more effective than conventional technique to teach listening.In accordance with the above result, the English teacher is expected to be able to select the appropriate teaching technique to teach vocabulary for the students who have high or low intelligence.Key words: Podcast, conventional Technique, Listening

Abstract

Abstrak        Keterampilan berbahasa Niveau A1 (Tingkat Pengenalan) ditentukan dengan kelulusan pada uji keterampilan Resmi Bahasa Prancis yang dikenal dengan istilah DELF A1, yang divalidasi langsung oleh kementrian pendidikan dan urusan luar negeri Prancis. Sebagai mahasiswa pada Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Prancis sudah selayaknya memiliki ijazah DELF A1 setelah menyelesaikan semester pertama. Namun berdasarkan data yang diperoleh pada tahun 2021, 0% mahasiswa yang memiliki ijazah DELF A1. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjawab masalah tersebut dengan cara mengambarkan dan menyiapkan mahasiswa agar dapat dan termotivasi mengikuti test DELF A1 begitu menyelesaikan semester pertama perkuliahan.  Kata kunci : Niveau DELF A1 (Tingkat Pengenalan), Deskripsi, Keterampilan Berbahasa, Tema Pembelajaran,

Abstract

AbstrakDrawing illustrations is one of the contents in the subjects of SBK (Cultural Arts and Skills) in junior high school. The process of drawing illustrations in junior high school for class VIII does not miss the principles of fine art, so it is important for teachers to convey clearly about what the principles are and how much role they play in the process of creating an illustration. The purpose of this research is to find out the illustration works of students of class VIII of State Junior High School 2 Berastagi quarantined in terms of fine art principles. The illustration images studied are in the form of flora objects with types of cartoon illustrations. The methods used in this study are qualitative descriptive methods. The population in this study all illustrated illustrations of students of class VIII-1 Of State Junior High School 2 Berastagi which amounted to 234 works. In this study the authors took samples using purposive sampling techniques. The reason for sampling is the number of illustration works included in the flora object that is flowers. In addition, the reason for sampling is time constraints due to shared health interests that do not allow all students to carry out the learning process as usual and the decision is sourced from the government. The results of illustration work from some students for example for the principle of composition, there are still students who put the dominating object on one side of the drawing field. The purpose of this research is to find out the illustration works of students of class VIII of State Junior High School 2 Berastagi quarantined in terms of fine art principles. The illustration images studied are in the form of flora objects with types of cartoon illustrations. The principles of fine art in the illustration works of students of grade VIII-1 of State Junior High School 2 Berastagi numbered as many as 20 works.Keywords: Works; Illustrated image; Principles of Fine Art AbstrakMenggambar ilustrasi merupakan salah satu muatan dalam mata pelajaran SBK (Seni Budaya dan Keterampilan) di SMP. Proses menggambar ilustrasi di SMP untuk kelas VIII tidak lepas prinsip-prinsip seni rupa, sehingga penting untuk guru dalam menyampaikan secara jelas tentang apa saja prinsip tersebut dan seberapa besar perannya dalam proses menciptakan sebuah gambar ilustrasi. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karya gambar ilustrasi karya siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi ditinaju dari segi prinsip-prinsip seni rupa. Karya gambar ilustrasi yang diteliti yaitu berupa objek flora dengan jenis ilustrasi kartun. Adapaun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi dalam penelitianini seluruh karya gambar ilustrasi siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi yang berjumlah 234 karya. Dalam penelitian ini penulis mengambil sampel dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Alasan pengambilan sampel adalah jumlah karya ilustrasi yang termasuk dalam objek flora yaitu bunga. Selain itu alasan pengambilan sampel. adalah keterbatasan waktu karena kepentingan kesehatan bersama yang tidak memungkinkan seluruh siswa melaksanakan proses belajar seperti biasanya dan keputusan tersebut bersumber dari pemerintah. Hasil karya ilustrasi dari beberapa siswa misalnya untuk prinsip komposisi, masih ada siswa yang meletakkan objek yang mendominasi pada salah satu sisi bidang gambar. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karya gambar ilustrasi karya siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi ditinaju dari segi prinsip-prinsip seni rupa. Karya gambar ilustrasi yang diteliti yaitu berupa objek flora dengan jenis ilustrasi kartun. Prinsip-prinsip seni rupa pada karya gambar ilustrasi siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi yang berjumlah sebanayak 20 karya.Kata Kunci: Karya; Gambar Ilustrasi; Prinsip-Prinsip Seni Rupa

Abstract

AbstractTheme is the main idea or thought in writing. Meanwhile character is the actor who experiences events and problems in the story or fiction so that the event become an interesting story. There is a close relationship between theme and character in story.The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) the relationship between theme and character through feelings, (2) the relationship between theme and character through thoughts, and (3) the relationship between theme and character through action. This study used a qualitative approach. The method used is descriptive analysis. Types of data were in the form of sentences, phrases, and paragraphs related to the character's feelings, character's thoughts, and character's actions. Inside Out is an American animated film produced by Disney Pixar about emotional instability of 11 year old girl. Conclusion, in this study, the theme that is influenced by feelings is dominated by the egoic theme. The theme which is influenced by the most dominating thought is the physical theme, and the theme which is influenced by action is dominated by organic theme.Keywords: Relationship of Theme, Character, Fiction

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to investigate the deployment of graphological variations in Tennyson’s poetry namely Ulysses. A Descriptive qualitative was used in this study. The data were graphological variations used in poetry and the data source was Tennyson’s Ulysses poetry consists of 70 lines. The data were analyzed based on graphological techniques and punctuation marks. The result revealed graphological variations are found in Ulysses’ poetry by Tennyson starting from capitalization, indentation to punctuation marks. Capitalization was used to indicate proper noun and used in every line as a rule of nineteenth century poetry. For indentation, it was found two lines with more indented line than others. Lastly, five distinct family of punctuation marks were used namely stops: period, colon, semi-colon, and comma, tonal indicators: exclamation mark, sign of omission: apostrophe, rules: hyphen and em-dash, and combinate-mark: commash. Those graphological variations closely related with the era of the poet wrote his poetry.Keywords: Analysis; Graphology; Poetry; Ulysses  AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan variasi grafologi dalam puisi Tennyson dengan judul Ulysses. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data yang digunakan adalah variasi grafologi yang digunakan dalam puisi dan sumber datanya adalah puisi Ulysses karya Tennyson yang terdiri dari 70 baris. Data dianalisis berdasarkan teknik grafologi dan tanda baca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi grafologi ditemukan dalam puisi Ulysses karya Tennyson mulai dari penggunaan huruf kapital, indentasi hingga tanda baca. Kapitalisasi digunakan untuk menunjukkan kata benda yang tepat dan digunakan di setiap baris sebagai aturan puisi abad kesembilan belas. Pada indentasi ditemukan dua baris puisi yang lebih menjorok dari yang lain. Terakhir, lima tanda baca yang berbeda digunakan yaitu perhentian: titik, titik dua, titik koma, dan koma. Kemudian, indikator nada: tanda seru, tanda penghilangan: apostrof. Selanjutnya aturan: tanda hubung dan tanda pisah, dan tanda kombinasi: koma. Variasi grafologi tersebut erat kaitannya dengan zaman penyair menulis puisinya.Kata kunci: Analisis; Grafologi; Puisi; Ulysses

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah penggunaan metafora dalam pantun pada Upacara Pernikahan Suku Melayu Pesisir  melalui  permasalahan, yakni berdasarkan  aspek jenis serta makna metafora yang terkandung dalam pantun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik wawancara, teknik rekam, dan teknik catat. Adapun hasil temuan jenis metafora yang terdapat dalam pantun upacara pernikahan suku Melayu Pesisir, meliputi (1) metafora antropomorfik sebanyak 5 pantun, (2) metafora animal terdapat pada 5 pantun, (3) metafora dari konkret ke abstrak sebanyak 5 pantun, serta  (4) metafora sinestesia sebanyak 4 pantun.
