Abstract

In Indonesia, students and teachers often engage in disciplinary behaviour. Discipline is the only educational characteristic that needs to be emphasized in schools. Most students have not shown good disciplinary character, where students are not on time to enter class during study hours, like to skip class during learning, and do not do assignments so the character of poor student discipline becomes a habit. This study aims to determine the role of the guidance and counselling teacher in the formation of the disciplinary character of students at MTS Al Washliyah. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative which examines the role of guidance and counseling teachers in the formation of students' disciplinary character. The data were collected through interviews, document analysis, focused discussions, and observations as outlined in field notes. The results of this study indicate that the role of the guidance and counselling teacher in the formation of the disciplinary character of students is going quite well. Guidance and counselling teachers collaborate with student representatives, homeroom teachers, and parents to solve the problems of students who lack discipline. Students who lack discipline are given individual counselling services and guidance and counselling teachers also make visits to students' homes to find out the factors causing these students to lack discipline and to discuss student problems at school with students' parents. The findings of this study are the role of guidance and counselling teachers in shaping the disciplinary character of students in MTS Al Washliyah.

Abstract

The phenomenon of workers looking for work in big cities or abroad is rife in Indonesia, also known as migration. So workers care for their children by entrusting them to their grandparents at home. This study explores the upbringing of grandparents who are considered to have failed in nurturing their grandchildren in Puring District, Kebumen. The method used is a phenomenological study with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using observation, in-depth interviews with three grandmothers, and analysis phenomenologically reductive. The results of this study indicate that residents of Puring District, Kebumen are one of the areas where residents migrate as laborers. The care for the children of migrating workers is passed on to grandmothers at home without any parenting knowledge. The failure of parenting grandparents is caused by a form of parenting based on fear, ignorance/neglect, and parenting without exemplar, resulting in the behavior of grandchildren who are lazy, spoiled, rarely worship, rude speech style, and promiscuity

Abstract

The bullying of teenagers is a concern of mine as it can have negative impacts on the victim such as anxiety, loneliness, low self-esteem, low levels of competition, depression, escapism, and substance abuse. The aim of this research is to identify bullying in schools and ways to prevent it. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. In this research, the data sources used are articles that can be obtained from various sources, such as reputable scientific journal databases, libraries, or the internet within the range of 2019-2022. The data set is then analyzed through inclusion and exclusion criteria stages. There were 24 articles relevant to the topic from a total of 120 analyzed articles. The results of this research found that the phenomenon of bullying has led to horrific acts of sexual harassment such as victims being forced to have sex with animals, being beaten, even forced to kiss the perpetrator's feet, crushed by a motorbike, being set on fire with cigarettes, and kicked in the genitals. Prevention methods that can be implemented include socialization to parents and the school community to increase awareness of bullying.

Abstract

Academic burnout has emerged as the most commonly reported problem since the Covid-19 pandemic, continuing into the transitional period of limited face-to-face learning during the post-pandemic phase. This study aimed to depict the level academic burnout among junior high school students in Sigi Regency after participating in online learning. For this purpose, a descriptive quantitative survey study was conducted, applying the principles of item total correlation. Out of a total population of 953 students from two schools, 300 students were randomly selected as participants using a simple random sampling technique. The results revealed that students faced difficulties in adapting to the limited face-to-face learning process, which was further exacerbated by challenges in time management and reduced interaction among students due to social restrictions. Students reported experiencing exhaustion due to heavy workload and difficulties in understanding the material, as they were only able to engage in limited offline discussions.

Abstract

In implementing guidance and counseling services at schools, adolescent problems have been a classic problem for a long time. During adolescence, known as the storm and stress period, emotions tend to be explosive and uncontrollable. They tend to blow up their feelings towards their parents or siblings. For some families, the situation brings them into family conflict. Families who only deal with the problem behavior will make the symptoms more persistent, known as the symptomatic family cycle. Micucci argues that the root of the problem is not in the problematic behavior of adolescents but in the patterns of interaction within the family. This article uses a literature review focusing on debriefs on the Micucci book. We found that the most crucial role of the counselor is to help families change symptom-related patterns of interaction. The main principle: The therapist or counselor replaces automatic and reactive responses among family members with more thoughtful and planned responses. Family therapy has five stages: beginning, identification, reframing, core treatment, and addition. Based on Micucci’s guidelines, the family therapy process requires all the competencies: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional. Personal competence and professional competence become the basis of the therapy process, while pedagogic competence and social competence complement and support the success of the family therapy process. Family therapy can be an alternative for the counselor to help adolescents with symptomatic problems.

Abstract

Strengthening the Pancasila student profile is the latest issue in the world of education in Indonesia. All projects and learning methods used aim to shape the character of Pancasila students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance using the traditional bilu-bilu game to strengthen the profile of students of Pancasila at SD N 60 Kota Timur. This research is a single case experimental design study with A-B design and involves four respondents using a random sampling method. The instruments used in this study were the Pancasila student profile scale and observation guidelines. The analysis technique used is clinical and statistical analysis. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the profile of Pancasila students through traditional bilu-bilulu games at baseline A1, intervention, and baseline A2. Schools can adapt classic games in guidance and counselling services or in the learning process to strengthen the Pancasila student profile. This study combines group guidance stages with traditional games, allowing students to gain meaningful experiences in each guidance session. The results of this study can be used as a reference for schools to develop group guidance service programs using local wisdom.

Abstract

This research was motivated by a phenomenon at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang, where as many as 16 out of 171 students had self-confidence in the low category. This study aimed to prove the role of group counseling with a rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) approach in increasing students’ self-confidence. This quantitative experimental research has a sample of 20 students divided into experimental and control groups. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed rank test and Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 independent samples. The study results stated that students’ self-confidence was in the medium category, with a percentage of 76.6%. The self-confidence of the experimental group students before being given REBT group counseling averaged 72.2 in the low category, and after being given REBT group counseling treatment increased to 125.6 in the high category. The self-confidence level of the control group students before being given group guidance without REBT was 84.5 in the low category. After being given counseling treatment, the REBT group increased to 104.7 in the medium category. REBT group counseling has effectiveness in increasing students’ self-confidence.
