Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic state that has land and sea boundaries with other countries. One of the land border areas of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) is the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL). In order to protect the RI-RDTL land border area, the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) has deployed the RI-RDTL Border Security Task Force. The border security system implemented by the RI-RDTL Border Security Task Force has not been able to fully monitor the border area as a whole, so violations often occur in the RI-RDTL land border area that are not monitored. In order for the RI-RDTL Border Security Task Force to be more effective in carrying out its duties in protecting the RI-RDTL land border area, it needs to be equipped with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of the use of UAV technology in supporting security operations in the RI-RDTL land border area with the measured effectiveness indicators covering aspects of Reliability, Adaptability, Sustainability, Interoperability, Risk, Cost, Time and Human. This research uses Mixed Methods with Concurrent Embedded methods. Qualitative data were processed using NVivo 12 Plus software and analyzed using descriptive analytical methods. While quantitative data is processed using SPSS 26 software and Measures of Effectiveness (MoE). The results of this research conclude that UAV technology is effectively used to support security operations in the RI-RDTL land border area with a final effectiveness value of 0.829 for all UAV effectiveness indicators that have been determined.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of adding oil palm shell ash on the quality of the resulting lightweight concrete bricks. Based on SNI 03-2847-2002, lightweight concrete is concrete containing light aggregate and unit weight between 800-1900 kg / m³. Making lightweight concrete bricks requires other materials in the mixing process, including silica sand. Silica sand is a major structural component in building and construction products, has the chemical formula SiO2 (silicon dioxides) which can be obtained from mineral, vegetable, and synthetic silica. Palm ash has pozzolanic properties and contains silica elements ranging from 31.45%, so that this element can be mixed with cement and produce higher mortar strength. In this research, the composition of the shell ash used was 15%, 30% and 45%, with variations in the composition of other ingredients. The results of calculations and testing, the addition of palm shell ash gave the quality of lightweight concrete bricks at 30% composition, with compressive strength: 13.43 MPa, density: 1.112.3 kg / m³ and water absorption capacity: 28.7%.

Abstract

The theft and theft of motorbikes experienced a significant increase during the pandemic, which was 72.5%. The current motor vehicle security system only relies on keys for security, or uses additional security electronic devices such as alarms and security systems using touch sensors. However, this kind of safety does not guarantee that the motor is completely safe. The problem of this research is how to design a security system based on RFID, GSM and GPS. The purpose of this research is to design a motorcycle security system based on RFID, GSM and GPS that is able to monitor and secure motorcycles and to find out the difference in distance between GPS coordinates to facilitate the search for locations. The research method consists of hardware and software design and testing of the RFID system, GPS testing, GSM testing and overall flow testing. The test data show that the security system on a motorcycle using an RFID card is able to secure and detect without a plastic barrier as far as 3 cm while with a plastic barrier it can detect as far as 2.5, sending messages using SIM900A by sending commands to Arduino with a delay or delay. the time is about 3-5 seconds, and the GPS used has good accuracy by taking 8 coordinates or locations, the average difference is 4.5 m.

Abstract

This research was conducted to develop a gas microturbine design by optimizing the position of the combustion chamber, which changes the position of the combustion chamber from vertical to horizontal and in a single axis with compressor and turbine components. The research method used is to calculate the change in the position of the combustion chamber from a vertical to a horizontal position, and thermodynamic analysis using the Brayton cycle in both ideal and actual conditions. The results of this research can be explained that the new design produces an outlet temperature of the combustion chamber or a gas turbine inlet temperature of 1242 K and a gas turbine outlet temperature of 870 K. This condition results in a thermal efficiency of 27.35%. Changing the position of the combustion chamber to a horizontal position in the development of gas microturbine designs can be concluded that can improve the performance of gas microturbine designs.

Abstract

Kanyere (Bridelia Monoica Merr) leaf can be used as burn medicine because they contain anti-inflammatory compounds: flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, and tannins. Maceration is used as an extraction method to obtain kanyere leaf extract. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the most optimum concentration of kanyere leaf extract in curing test animals by applying kanyere leaf as a burn gel medicine with variations in the concentration of kanyere leaf extract. The method used is an in-vivo anti-inflammatory test method on 25 white rats (Rattus Novergicus) Wistar strain. Each rat was divided into 5 groups for concentration variation and positive control. Mice were coded K1, K2, K3, K4, and K5. Group K1 was smeared with gel base with 0% concentration, K2 (positive control) was smeared with brand X burn medication, while groups K3, K4, and K5 were smeared with gel base with concentrations of 2%, 4%, and 8%. The smearing of all treatment groups was carried out evenly once every morning as much as 0.1 gram for one application and then observed and measured the area of wound closure for 14 days, then the data were processed statistically. From the results of the study, was found that the percentage reduction in the area of K1 -30.38%; K2 43.21%;  K3 12.38%; K4 18.87% and K5 27.21%. The effect of Gel 8% Extract concentration on inflammation is quite significant, marked by a decrease in a burn area, but physiologically comparable to positive control although the percentage is not close enough. Meanwhile, for Gel with 2% and 4% extract,  the effect on inflammation was not maximal.

Abstract

VCR system  is an energy conversion device that uses a mechanical vapour compression cycle in the process. The performance of the VCR system using environmentally friendly refrigerants is a significant issue, and much research is still underway to evaluate and improve the efficiency of the systems used. Therefore, this paper presents an experimental investigation of the performance of the refrigeration cycle. A VCR system was used as a test tool. The coefficient of performance (CoP) was studied using a VCR system  design with varying evaporator loads. Variation of an evaporator load is done by intervening fan rpm at five rpm levels. The VCR system uses a compressor with a capacity of 365 watts using R410A refrigerant. Refrigerant R410A is one of the alternative refrigerants to replace R22 which is not environmentally friendly. Experimental data was validated using Genetron Properties 1.1 software. Experimental analysis data showed that the highest CoP was obtained at the lowest rpm with a value of 3.17. Meanwhile, the lowest CoP is 3.02, obtained at the highest rpm. Loading the evaporator with fan rpm produces a CoP value indirectly proportional to the fan rpm value. Genetron 1.1 software validation results produce a higher CoP value of about 2%-3% than experimental data.

Abstract

Anchoic dryer with automatic system based on Arduino UNO microcontroller using Hybrid Energy (a combination of solar energy with home electrical energy), designed to make it easier for fishermen to dry anchoic fish in all weathers. This research was conducted systematically starting from the process of making dryers equipped with solar panels and controller systems and shelves for drying of anchoateds made in portable form. Data collection testing is done by three methods, first using PLN electricity, second by combining PLN electricity and Solar Panel, Third Using Solar panels. The results of these three test processes show the percentage of ups and downs of moisture that occur in dryer shelves caused by the influence of unstable sunlight so that solar panels can not work properly resulting in the battery not storing current perfectly, so the system automatically switches to current. PLN electricity. Automation of the contoller system used in this dryer works well at the time of reading both at the temperature and humidity of the dryer room .

Abstract

Streams can be used for micro and pico-scale power plants. Water wheel technology has long been used by the community to raise river water to rice fields by utilizing the spinning wheel. Farmers in Gedongan Hamlet, Bondowoso Village, Magelang Regency have long used this technology as a pump to raise river water to rice fields that are elevated above the river. From the literature review it is known that the cross flow turbine from a waterwheel can produce energy by working the rotation and torque of the wheel. However, the appropriate technology has not been used as a piko power generator. The purpose of this study is to determine the amount and power of energy produced by waterwheels so that the potential electricity produced is known. The benefit of the research is that it can increase electrification in rural areas, especially for street lighting with cheap, environmentally friendly and sustainable technology. The research method was carried out by collecting primary data in the field by measuring the amount of rotation of the watermill due to river velocity. The research stages carried out are selecting a specific research location, preparing tools and materials such as waterwheels, rpm meters and tacho meters, mobilizing measuring instruments, collecting field data, analyzing data, compiling results and reports. Based on research that has been done, the electric potential generated by traditional waterwheels is 80 watts, while the electrical energy generated from the spinning wheel is 7.5 watts.

Abstract

Bengkulu province is an area with high population growth, and it affects water demand, including rice field irrigation water. In a certain period, there was a drought on farming irrigation water in Bengkulu. The Water supply has to be maintained to fullfill the irrigation water demand. Musi Hydroelectric outlet water is one source to fulfill irrigation water demand. it is located at Ujan Mas, Kepahiang regency where the hydroelectric outlet water reaches billions of cubic in a year. Thus, there is potential to optimize rice-field irrigation water demand. The analysis method used in this study is a comparison between fount water supply and rice-field irrigation water demand based on Irrigation Planning Criteria (KP-01) in 1986. The result of the study is monthly water balance charts which illustrate the comparison between the water amount on hydroelectric outlet (PLTA) and irrigation water demand in Kepahiang and Bengkulu Tengah regency. The result of the study shows that outlet water of Musi hydroelectric (PLTA) can fulfill the irrigation water demand in Kepahiang and Bengkulu Tengah regency.

Abstract

Internal parameters of the propeller axial turbine affect the performance of the turbine itself. The influence of the internal parameters will provide information on the characteristics of a turbine design and produce optimal performance. Solidity or the ratio of the gaps between turbine blades to the length of the blade chord is one of the internal parameters that affect the performance of the propeller turbine, and visually has similarities to the number of blades parameter. The object of this study is to observe how the solidity of the propeller turbine affects the water pressure contour on the suction side or pressure water before pounding the blade. This study method uses Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) with SolidWorks 2016 Flow Simulation software. The variable number of blades used in this study is 3 to 7 blades, with 200 blades each. The results of this study present a plot or a figure with different color contours for each parameter that shows the value of water pressure on the suction and discharge sides, as well as the pressure contour on the surface turbine. This study shows that the higher the solidity value or the more the number of blades, the water pressure in the suction area will increase.
