Abstract

This study focuses on the effect of Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) and Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) on the Financial Performance (FP) of Muslim-family-owned-micro businesses in Indonesia. The sample was obtained from micro-enterprises registered with OK-OCE (social institutions that function as entrepreneurship centers in various districts). The purposive sampling method is used with the criteria of Muslim family-owned businesses and home industries that produce food and beverages, restaurants, and cafes. Using a SmartPLS software (PLS-SEM method), 246 micro-business data samples were processed and analyzed. The result shows that IWE has a significantly positive influence on EO; secondly, EO has a significantly positive influence on FP; while last, IWE has no significant impact on FP. However, the IWE indirectly positively affects financial performance through EO as the mediating variable. This empirical evidence contributes a novelty in Islamic Work Ethics and entrepreneurship literature, especially in Indonesia. For further research, there are several suggestions, such as using objective financial performance data; using other sectors or industries as the sample, such as the apparel industry; and including a moderating variable such as business regulation, etc.

A sample of 306 millennials on Surabaya was selected. A quantitative analysis technique using PLS was applied. The final model showed financial knowledge, digital financial knowledge, and financial attitudes positively influence financial behavior. Abstract

SMEs have contributed to labor absorption and the province's budget. However, SMEs face significant obstacles in accessing external funding. They also have a weak understanding of various financial aspects. This study aims to examine the effect of financial literacy and external funding access on the growth of SMEs. The sample population comprised SMEs in the non-agricultural sector in Jepara, Indonesia, Central Java Province. This study employed PLS-SEM statistical tools to prove the hypotheses and answer the research objectives. The study indicated that financial literacy could improve access to external funding sources, enhancing the growth of SMEs. However, financial literacy had no significant positive effect on the development of SMEs. This study also proved complete mediation with external funding as the mediator. This study is expected to be an essential reference and recommendation for reducing the unemployment rate. Additionally, it increases the prosperity and welfare of the people in Central Java Province through the establishment and development of SMEs and government policies to further intensify the program.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the mediating role of job burnout and the moderating role of equity compensation on the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. The study was conducted on 131 employees of Bank X in Malang by using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that job demand had a significant direct effect on job burnout and employee satisfaction, while job burnout had no impact. On the other hand, job burnout does not play a mediating role, and equity compensation does not play a role in moderating the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. This study places job burnout as a mediating variable and equity compensation as a moderating variable on the effect of job demand on employee satisfaction. An essential finding of this study is that the hypothesized mediating and moderating roles were not proven. It is necessary to pay special attention to the job demand/ demands imposed on employees to affect employee satisfaction positively. Physical demand is something that needs to be considered. When employees feel burdened and unable to meet the given physical demands, employees may experience job burnout which is indicated by the loss of enthusiasm from employees at work.

Abstract

The stock price of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange fluctuates. It causes investors to experience difficulties in making investments in the stock market. A dividend policy is a policy in making decisions to distribute profits as dividends or withhold profits for business development. It is difficult for many company managers. This study examines and proves the effect of exchange rates, interest rates, profitability, and solvency on stock prices mediated by dividend policy. This study uses a quantitative approach with a sample of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The number of observations was eight companies, with a research period of 4 years (2016-2019). Sampling using a purposive sampling method. Analysis of research data using multiple linear regression methods and path analysis. The results showed that solvency directly affects stock prices through dividend policy, while profitability only affects stock prices. The same test results also show that the exchange rate measured using exchange rate sensitivity and interest rates measured using interest rate sensitivity cannot influence the stock price of manufacturing companies. This study supports the signaling theory regarding the direct and indirect effects that lead to the company’s stock price. Measuring financial ratios can help companies to decide on dividend policies. Company managers must manage the company’s profitability and solvency appropriately to achieve the goals for shareholders’ welfare.
