Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Indonesian government policies on curriculum and pedagogy that responds the global phenomenon of radical and violent forms of Islam. Specifically I investigate whether the Ministry of Religious Affairs has designed a curriculum content in Islamic Religious Studies for secondary education that discusses key concepts such as radicalism, jihadi-takfiri movements, religious violence, and intolerance towards other faiths. These issues are a central concern to Muslims in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach and descriptive method. My research attempts to answer why the Ministry of Religious Affairs has not included curriculum content that deals with contemporary issues of violent Islamic movements. The data had been collected through observation, documentation and  interviews a number of officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of National Education, education experts and practitioners, and students. The result of my study will be a recommendation to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Culture and Primary and Secondary Education for developing curriculum content deals with the question of radicalism and religious violence in a direct and honest way. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kebijakan pemerintah Indonesia pada kurikulum dan pedagogik yang merespon fenomena global dari radikalisme dan bentuk kekerasan dalam Islam. Khususnya, saya menyelidiki apakah Kementerian Agama telah merancang konten kurikulum pada mata pelajaran Agama Islam untuk sekolah menengah yang mendiskusikan konsep-konsep seperti radikalisme, gerakan jihadi-takfiri, kekerasan beragama, dan intoleransi terhadap keyakinan lain. Isu-isu tersebut merupakan perhatian utama bagi muslim di Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deksriptif kualitatif. Penelitian saya berusaha menjawab mengapa Kementerian Agama tidak memasukkan konten kurikulum yang menyelesaikan isu-isu kontemporer tentang gerakan islam radikal. Data diambil melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara sejumlah pejabat kementerian agama dan kementerian pendidikan, para ahli pendidikan, praktisi dan siswa. Hasil penelitian ini berupa rekomendasi kepada kementerian agama dan kementerian pendidikan dan kebudayaan pendidikan dasar dan menengah untuk mengembangkan konten kurikulum yang mengatasi pertanyaan tentang radikalisme dan kekerasan beragama dengan cara yang langsung dan jujur. Abstract

Abstract The study seeks to trace the way of disseminating the skills of entrepreneurship among of the students in school  (SMK Negeri) 2 Palangka Raya. This study applied qualitative approach by observation, documentation and  interviews the principle of school, vice principle for curriculum affairs, vice principals for students affairs entrepreneurial education teacher, and unit production managers. The findings show that developing skills of students entrepreneurship has meer the criteria and functions of contemporary management. The ddissemination of  entrepreneuership skills to the students was  done through practical way through a variety of channels, such as units of production practice, in collaboration with the real enterprises such as telecommunication,  pharmacy store, college of management and communication science, bazaar or flea market and other forms of collaboration with the tellecominication office, gra pari, and salon. In practice, disseminiting the entrepreneuership  skills are still faced with many complex challenges such as  human resources who has no progressive spirit of teaching due to the contemporary dynamics issues of business,lack professionalism of teacher in teaching and learning process, the curriculum change,  lack of facilities and infrastucture owned by the school, and the limitation of time in practicing the theories. Abstrak Study ini mengkaji cara menanamkan ketrampilan berwirausaha pada  siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri  2 Palangka Raya. Studi ini  menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah bagian kurikulum, wakil kepala sekolah bagian kesiswaan, guru kewirausahaan, dan pengelola unit produksi. Temuan studi ini menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan ketrampilan berwirausaha siswa telah memenuhi kriteria penerapan fungsi manajemen komtemporer. Diseminasi ketrampilan berwirausaha siswa selain pemahaman teorertik  melalui proses belajar mengajar di kelas juga melalui praktek langsung beresentuhan dengan dunia usaha melalui sejumlah saluran yang berbeda seperti praktek di unit produksi, kerjasama dengan telekomunikasi, apotik, sekolah tinggi ilmu manajemen dan komunikasi,  pasar murah, dan bentuk kerjasama lain seperti gra pari dan salon. Dalam prakteknya, diseminasi ketrampilan berwirausaha masih diperhadapkan dengan berbagai tantangan seperti sumber daya manusia yang memiliki semangat berkemajuan untuk mengajar sesuai dengan dinamika isu-isu business kontemporer, kurangnya profesionalisme guru, Perubahan kurikulum, kurangnya fasilitas dan infrasktuktur sekolah, keterabatasan waktu dalam mempraktekkan teori-teori kewirausahaan. Abstract

Abstract One of many problems in the madrasahs is that learning processes less-involve students actively (teacher-centered), thus, it affects to the improvement of learning outcomes and quality of the graduates. The purposes of this study are , firstly, to analyze what type of constructivism learning models, which can be developed to overcome madrasahs’ problems. Secondly, how to design and implement a learning plan based on the developed constructivism models. This research was conducted at Private Islamic Elementary School  (Madrasah) Ad-Diyanah Ciputat, South Tangerang. Research method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative research. The results showed that the active learning models based on constructivism are suitable to be developed in the Madarasah, which were the models of Problem Based Learning (PBM), Realistic Learning, Inquiry Learning and Thematic Learning and also how the development of the learning processes from the lesson plans to the learning implementation showed a paradigm shifting from teacher-centered to student-centered. Abstrak Salah satu permasalahan di madrasah-madrasah adalah proses pembelajaran yang kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif (berpusat pada guru), sehingga hal ini mengakibatkan pada peningkatan hasil belajar dan kualitas lulusan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah, pertama, untuk menganalisis jenis model pembelajaran konstruktivisme apa yang dapat dikembangkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan di madrasah. Ke dua, bagaimana merancang dan melaksanakan rencana pembelajaran berdasarkan model konstruktivisme yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sekolah Dasar Swasta (madrasah) Ad-Diayanah Ciputat, Tangerang Selatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran aktif yang berbasis konstruktivisme sesuai untuk dikembangkan di madrasah, yakni model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL), Pembelajaran Realistis, Pembelajaran Inkuiri dan Pembelajaran Tematik, juga bagaimana pengembangan proses pembelajaran dari rencana pembelajaran ke pelaksanaan pembelajaran menunjukkan perubahan paradigma dari berpusat-pada-guru menjadi berpusat-pada-siswa. Abstract

With a brief foundation that covers some reviews of world literature on education and politics, the study points out the significance of developing a certain model of democracy education in the diverse country, Indonesia. The paper aims to establish the development and the excavation of democracy in Indonesia by presenting historical explanation on how Indonesian muslim scholars from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta developed a suitable model of Indonesian civic education, which considers the elements of diversity as strengthening elements for democracy. Different from Shanker’s view (1996) on the global challenge of civic education, this study shows the successful experience of Indonesian Muslim in the development and application of civic education as a compulsory subject in Islamic education institutions, namely Public Islamic Higher Education (PTKIN) and pesantren. Finally, it recommends further development and emphasizes the vital influence on rooting civic education in Pesantren since it will positively play an important role to strengthen the evolving democracy in Indonesia by integrating Islamic and Indonesian values. Abstrak Dengan melakukan review singkat terhadap beberapa literatur internasional tentang pendidikan dan politik, studi ini menunjukkan pengembangan model khusus  pendidikan demokrasi di Indonesia sebagai negara multi etnis. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan perkembangan dan pengembangan demokrasi di Indonesia dengan pemaparan historis  tentang bagaimana muslim Indonesia khususnya di UIN jakarta dalam mengembangkan model Civic Education yang tepat, yang mempertimbangkan  elemen keberagamaan sebagai penguat demokrasi. Berbeda dari pendapat Shanker(1996) tentang tantangan global terhadap pendidikan kewarganegaraan, studi ini menggambarkan pengalaman sukses muslim Indonesia dalam mengembangkan pendidikan kewarganegaraan sebagai mata kuliah wajib di institusi pendidikan Islam dengan nama Perguruan Tinggi Keagaamaan Islam Negeri (PTKIN) dan Pesantren. Di bagian akhir, tulisan ini merekomendasikan pengembangan lebih jauh dan penekanan akan pentingnya pengaruh pendidikan kewarganegaraan di Pesantren, karena Pesantren memainkan peran penting untuk menguatkan pengembangan demokrasi di Indonesia dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai keislaman dan keindonesiaan.How to Cite : Azra, A. Abstract

Abstract Pesantren and Qur’anic school are prominent educational pioneers in the largest Muslim populated country, Indonesia. Qur’anic school is the oldest education system, which later inspired the birth of traditional Islamic boarding schools or pesantren that have been growing so rapidly and giving unique characteristics of Islamic education practice throughout of the country. Nowadays Qur’anic schools are almost everywhere in cities and villages, providing Qur’anic reading lesson for Muslim children and educating them to be pious generation based on Qur’an and Hadist. At present, Pesantren has reformed its roles not only serving Islamic education for ordinary villagers, the sons of the middle-class Muslims, and aspiring religious scholars, but also functioning as center of trainings for Qur’anic schools teachers. Although Qur’anic schools and Pesantren are always popular, researches about them remain few. This study uncovered the role of Pesantren at semi-urban rural area of Banjarnegara Regency in Central Java in Qiro’ati and Iqro Qur’anic teacher training education as well as described the process of reconstruction of Islamic knowledge by Qur’anic school teachers. It was found out that there were three steps of reconstruction of knowledge, namely filtering, adaptation, and implementation. Abstrak Pesantren dan sekolah berlandaskan Al-Qur’an adalah pionir utama dalam dunia pendidikan di negara dengan populasi muslim terbesar, Indonesia. Sekolah berlandaskan Al-Qur’an adalah sistem pendidikan tertua, dikemudian hari menginspirasi lahirnya Pesantren tradisional yang kemudian tumbuh pesat dan memberikan warna yang khas dalam pendidikan Islam di seluruh negeri. Saat ini sekolah berbasi Al-Qur’an dapat ditemukan di hampir seluruh kota dan desa, memberikan pembelajaran Al-Qur’an bagi anak-anak muslim dan mendidik mereka untuk menjadi generasi yang taat berlandaskan Al-Qur’an dan Hadits. Saat ini, Pesantren telah mereformasi peran mereka tidak hanya melayani pendidikan Islam bagi masyarakat awam di pedesaan, kaum muslim kelas menengah, dan menghasilkan cendekiawan muslim, tapi juga berfungsi sebagai pusat pelatihan guru-guru Al-Qur’an di sekolah. Walauapun sekolah berbasis Al-Qur’an dan pesantren selalu popular, penelitian mengenai hal tersebut masih tergolong sedikit. Penelitian ini memaparkan peran pesantren di daerah semi-urban di daerah Banjarnegara Jawa tengah di dalam pelatihan guru di Qiro’ati dan Iqro Quranic dan juga menjelaskan proses rekonstruksi keilmuan Islam oleh para pengajar di sekolah berlandaskan Al-Qur’an. Abstract

Abstract Primary English education in Indonesia and Japan is developing rapidly nowadays. Children in both countries have started to learn  English since they are at least in grade four or five. Although English is not a compulsory subject in primary schools, the interest of schools in the two countries toward English education for children is getting higher. This paper tried to reveal the similarities and differences of primary English curiculum  contents in Indonesia and in Japan in order to understand better about the development of English education in primary schools in the two countries. Abstrak Pendidikan bahasa Inggris dasar di Indonesia dan Jepang berkembang pesat saat ini. Anak-anak di kedua negara tersebut sudah mulai belajar bahasa Inggris setidaknya sejak mereka kelas empat atau kelas lima. Meskipun bahasa Inggris bukan mata pelajaran wajib di sekolah dasar, minat sekolah-sekolah di kedua negara terhadap pendidikan bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak semakin tinggi. Abstract

Abstract This study investigated the effect of incompetence in Arabic language on students’ performances in Islamic studies in the selected senior secondary schools in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. The main objective of this study was to ascertain the argument that the poor performance of senior secondary students in Islamic studies is as a result of incompetence and non-proficiency in Arabic language on the side of learners and teachers. The methodology employed in this study was the quantitative approach. Location of the study was Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State. Teachers of Islamic studies and students were randomly selected using the stratified random sampling technique from six senior secondary schools. The data gathered were analysed using simple percentages and chi-square statistical analysis. The findings revealed that significant number of students in Senior Secondary School’s poor performance in Islamic studies was due to their incompetence in Arabic as a result of their lack of exposure to the Arabic language and their poor background in Arabic from the previous classes. It also revealed that some of their teachers in Islamic studies were not competent in Arabic reading and writing. Abstrak Penelitian ini menginvestigasi efek ketidakmampuan bahasa Arab terhadap kinerja siswa studi Islam di sekolah-sekolah menengah atas terpilih di Ibadan Tenggara, di Area Pemerintahan Daerah Negara Oyo, Nigeria. Tujuan utama penelitian ini untuk menegaskan argumen bahwa buruknya kinerja siswa sekolah menengah atas pada studi Islam adalah akibat dari ketidakmampuan dan ketidakmahiran bahasa Arab pada peserta didik dan guru. Metode penelitian pendekatan kuantitatif. Lokasi penelitian adalah di Area Pemerintah Daerah Ibadan Tenggara Negara Oyo. Guru dan siswa program studi Islam dipilih secara acak menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling dari enam sekolah menengah atas. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan persentase sederhana dan analisis statistik chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan buruknya kinerja sebagian besar siswa sekolah menengah atas studi Islam adalah karena ketidakmampuan mereka dalam bahasa Arab sebagai akibat dari kurangnya eksposisi terhadap bahasa Arab dan kurangnya latar belakang bahasa Arab mereka dari kelas sebelumnya. Abstract

Abstract This research aims to make new breakthroughs, to open the students’ paradigm about psycho-education related to religious commitment as the internalization of the values ​​of the Sundanese Islam. Counseling method in this study used mixed methods with Triangulation A one-phased design models. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) The students’ increased commitment of religious is significant (47.37%) which is higher than the control group; (2) The answer of questionnaire item number one, two, and three in the experimental group is relatively balanced, with the emphasis on spoken and acted in number 23, whereas in the control group is relatively less balanced with emphasis on spoken and acted in number 13, and two who answered do not. Results of this study are expected to be an evaluation of the socialization of psychoeducation about the application of Islamic values ​​in the local policy on the vision and mission of the faculty, especially stakeholders. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat terobosan baru dalam memberikan paradigma baru kepada mahasiswa tentang psiko-edukasi terkait dengan komitmen beragama sebagai internalisasi nilai-nilai Islam Sunda. Metode konseling pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode gabungan dengan model desain Triangulasi satu-fase. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Peningkatan komitmen relijius mahasiswa signifikan (47.37%) yang lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol; (2) Jawaban item angket nomor satu, dua, dan tiga pada kelas eksperimen cenderung seimbang dengan penekanan pada lisan dan tindakan di nomor 23, sedangkan di kelas kontrol cenderung tidak seimbang dengan penekanan pada lisan dan tindakan di nomor 13, dan dua orang menjawab tidak tahu. Hasil penelitian mengharapkan adanya evaluasi dari sosialisasi psiko-edukasi tentang penerapan nilai-nilai Islam peraturan lokalpada visi dan misi fakultas, khususnya pemangku kebijakan. Abstract

Abstract This study was aimed at obtaining factual information on 1) the assessment of Basic Physics course learning achievement of Physics Education students of the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty of IAIN Raden Intan Lampung that includes process and product assessment and 2) the results of the implementation of assessment on student performance during the practicum component of the course. The study employed Elliot’s Model of Action Research Study, which is a mixed method in nature. It focused on improving instructional condition as the responsibility of the respective lecturer to make it more responsive to the existing needs .Indeed, it requires commitment of all parties involved in the instructional process to participate and collaborate for improved learning achievement, particularly of the Basic Physics course, to be obtained. In conclusion, based on the process and findings of the action research study, the implementation of performance assessment has significantly improved student learning achievement in the Basic Physics course.Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendpatkan informasi faktual mengenai 1) penilaian hasil belajar Fisika Dasar Pendidikan Fisika Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Raden Intan Lampung yang meliputi penilaian proses dan kinerja, dan 2) hasil implementasi penilaian prestasi mahasiswa selama praktikum. Penelitian menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Model Elliot, yang merupakan metode campuran. Penelitian fokus kepada peningkatan kondisi pembelajaran sebagai tanggungjawab dosen yang bersangkutan untuk membuatnya lebih responsif dengan kebutuhan yang ada. Tentunya, hal ini membutuhkan komitmen dari seluruh pihak terkait dalam proses pembelajaran untuk berpartisipasi dan berkolaborasi untuk peningkatan hasil pembelajaran, khususnya mata kuliah Fisika Dasar. Dapat disimpulkan, berdasarkan proses dan temuan penelitian tindakan kelas, penerapan penilaian kinerja secara signifikan meningkatkan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Fisika Dasar. Abstract

Abstract Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), as an International school provided by the government of Indonesia is not a favourite among Indonesian parents living in Malaysia. They prefer to send their children to other International or Islamic-based schools. It results in a big question on what are their reasons behind such decision. Thus, the aim of this study is to explore the experiences of Indonesian parents living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, regarding their reasons of not choosing Indonesian School for their children. For the purpose of this research, a case study approach was adopted. Using in-depth interviews, three Indonesian parents who live in Malaysia and opt for other International schools were selected. The data of the interviews were analysed and categorized based on unique themes. The result of an interpretive analysis found that parents’ reasons are demonstrated in three interrelated themes: (1) The need of specific curriculum, (2) The lack of creative teaching methods used in Indonesian School, and (3) The less strategic location of Indonesian School. As a final point, this paper provides an insight analysis of parents’ reasons and some recommendations for improvement.   Abstrak Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), sebagai sekolah Internasional yang disediakan oleh pemerintah Indonesia, tidaklah favorit di antara orang tua Indonesia yang tinggal di Malaysia. Mereka lebih memilih untuk mengirimkan anak-anak mereka ke sekolah Internasional lain atau sekolah Islam. Hal ini membuat pertanyaan besar kepada apa alasan mereka di balik keputusan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengalaman orang tua Indonesia yang tinggal di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, terkait dengan alasan mereka tidak memilih sekolah Indonesia bagi anak-anak mereka. Untuk tujuan penelitian ini, pendekatan studi kasus dilakukan. Menggunakan wawancara mendalam, tiga orang tua Indonesia yang tinggal di Malaysia dan memilih sekolah internasional lain dipilih. Data wawancara dianalisis dan dikelompokkan berdasarkan tema-tema khusus. Hasil interpretasi analisis menemukan bahwa alasan orang tua tergambarkan pada tiga item: (1) kebutuhan kurikulum tertentu, (2) kurangnya metode mengajar kreatif yang digunakan di sekolah Indonesia, dan (3) kurang strategis dari lokasi sekolah Indonesia.
