Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media film animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas V SD. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest control group desain. Hasil penilaian menunjukkan kelompok kontrol memperoleh rata-rata skor pretes 27,92 dan postes 29,51, kelompok eksperimen I memperoleh rata-rata skor pretes 27,95 dan postes 31,73, sedangkan kelompok eksperimen II memperoleh rata-rata skor pretes 27,75 dan postes 31,33. Peningkatan rata-rata skor yang diperoleh kelompok kontrol sebesar 1,59. Peningkatan rata-rata skor kelompok eksperimen I sebesar 3,78 dan peningkatan rata-rata skor kelompok eksperimen II sebesar 3,58. Hasil uji t kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen I diketahui nilai signifikansi 0,000 0,05. Hasil uji t kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen II menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 0,05. Hasil Anova menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 0,05. Dari data tersebut dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media film animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas V SD. EFFECTS OF THE USE OF ANIMATION FILM MEDIA ON THE NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL OF GRADE V STUDENTS OF ESsABSTRACTThis study is to find out the effects of the use of animation film media on the narrative text writing skill of Grade V students of elementary schools (ESs). This study was a quasi-experimental employing the pretest-posttest control group design. The results of the study show the control group attained a pretest mean score of 27.92 and a posttest mean score of 29.51; experimental group I attained a pretest mean score of 27.95 and a posttest mean score of 37.73 while experimental group II attained a pretest score of 27.75 and a posttest mean score 31.33. The mean gain score attained by the control group was 1.59. The mean gain score attained by experimental group I was 3.78, and that by experimental group II was 3.58. The results of the t-test for the control group and experimental group I showed a significance value of 0.000 0.05. The results of the t-test for the control group and experimental group II show a significance value of 0.000 0.05. The result of ANOVA shows a significance value of 0.000 0.05. Based on the data, it can be concluded that there are effects of the use of animation film media on the narrative text writing skill of Grade V students of ESs.Keywords: animation film media, text writing skill

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan harapan orang tua siswa yang menyekolahkan anaknya di SDSN dan SD Eks RSBI. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian komparasi. Populasi penelitian adalah orang tua siswa kelas I SDSN dan SD eks RSBI di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Sampel 322 orang tua siswa SDSN dan 226 orang tua siswa SD eks RSBI ditentukan dengan cluster random sampling technique. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa kuesioner harapan orang tua siswa. Instrumen penelitian dikembangkan berdasarkan enam kategori fungsi sekolah yaitu: (1) fungsi mengembangkan kecerdasan pikiran dan memberikan pengetahuan, (2) fungsi spesialisasi, (3) fungsi efisiensi, (4) fungsi sosialisasi, (5) fungsi konservasi, dan (6) fungsi transisi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik non-parametric, dengan menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan antara harapan orang tua siswa SDSN dan SD eks RSBI di DIY. Hasil analisis uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,666 yang berarti bahwa hipotesis Ho diterima. Artinya, harapan orang tua siswa SDSN dan SD eks RSBI mengenai fungsi sekolah di DIY adalah sama. Secara keseluruhan baik orang tua siswa SDSN maupun orang tua siswa SD eks RSBI mengharapkan sekolah yang mereka pilih untuk anaknya bisa melaksanakan fungsinya dengan baik. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE EXPECTATION OF THE PARENTS OF STUDENTS OF SDSN AND EX-RSBI SD IN YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL TERRITORY ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the differences in the expectations of parents who send their children to SDSN and SD Ex RSBI. This study uses the quantitative approach to the type of compa-rative research. The study population was parents of the students of elementary school class I SDSN and ex RSBI in Yogyakarta Special Territoy (YST). A sample of 322 SDSN students’ parents and 226 Ex RSBI SD students’ parents was established using the cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument used was in the form of a questionnaire on the expectations of the students’ parents. The research instrument was developed based on six categories of school functions, namely:(1) function of developing intelligence of the mind and providing knowledge, (2) specialization function, (3) efficiency function, (4) socialization function, (5) conservation function, and (6) transi-tion function. The data were collected using a questionaire with Likert scale and analyzed using the non-parametric statistics of Mann-Whitney test. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is no difference between the expectations of parents of the students of SDSN and that of ex-RSBI in YST. The results of the Mann-Whitney test analysis showed a significance value of 0.666 which means that the hypothesis H0 is accepted. This means that the expectations of the parents of SDSN students and that of the parents of Ex-RSBI SD students in terms functions in YST are the same. Overall both SDSN students’ parents and ex-RSBI SD students’ parents expect that the schools they choose for their children to carry out their functions properly.Keywords: expectation, parent, SDSN, SD eks RSBI.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan SSP tematik-integratif  terha-dap: (1) penanaman karakter disiplin dan (2) tanggung jawab siswa kelas III  SD se-gugus 2 Kecamat-an Banguntapan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji Anova satu jalur dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Penelitiaan ini menunjukkan hasil sebagai berikut. (1) SSP tematik-integratif berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penananaman karakter disiplin. Hasil uji Anova pada skor posttest karakter disiplin antara kelompok kontrol, eksperimen I, dan eksperimen II menunjukkan bahwa nilai F sebesar 18,173 dengan db 86 dan taraf signifikansi 0,00. Nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0,05. (2) SSP tematik-integratif berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penanaman karakter tanggung jawab antara kelompok kontrol, eksperimen I, dan eksperimen II. Hasil uji Anova pada skor posttest karakter tanggung jawab menunjukkan bahwa nilai F sebesar 17,809  dengan db 86 dan taraf signifikansi 0,00. Nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0,05. Data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa SSP tematik-integratif berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap penanaman karakter disiplin dan tanggung jawab siswa kelas III SD Se-Gugus 2 Kecamatan Banguntapan. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE EFFECT OF THEMATIC-INTEGRATIVE SSP ON THE CHARACTERS OF DISCIPLINE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF YEAR III STUDENTS OF ESsABSTRACT This research was aimed to find out the effect of thematic-integrative Subject Specific Pedagogy  in inculcating the character of (1) discipline and (2) responsibility of year III students of elementary schools in cluster 2 in Banguntapan Subdistrict. This research was a quasi-experiment with a pretest and posttest control group design. The data analysis technique used was Anova test with significance level of 0.05. The results of the research were (1) Thematic Integrative Subject Specific Pedagogy had a significant effect in inculcating character of discipline. The result of the Anova test on the post-test score of discipline character among the control group, the experimental I and II groups showed that the value of F was 18.173 with db 86 and significance level of 0.00. The significance level was less than 0.05. (2) Thematic Integrative Subject Specific Pedagogy  had a significant effect in inculcating character of responsibility among the control group, the experimental I and II groups. The result of the Anova test on the posttest score of the responsibility character showed that the value of F was 17.809 with db 86 and significance level of 0.00. The significance level was less than 0.05. Based on the data it could be concluded that there was a positive and significant effect of Thematic Integrative Subject Specific Pedagogy in inculcating characters of discipline and responsibility of year III students of elementary schools in cluster 2 in  Banguntapan Subdistrict. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kompetensi sosial anak yang mengikuti model pendidikan homeschooling dan model pendidikan konvensional. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa berusia 9-13 tahun, laki-laki dan perempuan. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan metode angket. Adapun angket yang digunakan adalah skala kompetensi sosial yang disusun oleh peneliti sendiri dengan mengacu pada aspek-aspek yang dikemukakan oleh Frey Bos (2012) hingga dihasilkan aitem sebanyak 24 aitem. Metode analisis data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan fasilitas program SPSS 16.0 for Windows, untuk menguji apakah terdapat perbe-daan kompetensi sosial anak yang mengikuti model pendidikan homeschooling dan konvensional. Metode analisis data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan fasilitas program SPSS 16.0 for Windows dengan Teknik Independent Samples T-tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kompetensi Sosial antara siswa homeschooling dengan siswa SD reguler, dimana siswa homeschooling lebih tinggi kompetensi sosialnya daripada siswa sekolah reguler. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ COMPARISON SOCIAL COMPETENCE BETWEEN HOMESCHOOLERS IN SOLO WITH REGULAR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN SD MUHAMMADIYAH 1, SOLO ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to know the difference social competence between children that following homeshooling education model and regular education model.  The subjects in this research were childrens with 9-13 of age, boys and/or girls. The data was collected using social competence scale that was made by writer also the items from aspects that was publicated by Frey and Bos (2012). The data was tested by using SPSS 16.0 for Windows, to know are there any differences of social competence between children that following homeschooling education model and regular. The data was tested by using SPSS 16.0 for Windows by The Independent Technic Samples T-test. Based on the test, there were any differences of social competence between children that following homeschooling education model and regular education model, in which the social competence of children that following homeschooling education model is higher than children that following regular education model. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Subject Spesific Pedagogy (SSP) tematik yang layak; dan menguji keefektifan SSP tematik untuk menanamkan kedisiplinan dan kepedulian pada siswa sekolah dasar kelas II. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Depelopment (RD) dengan mengacu pada model Borg Gall yang terdiri dari 10 tahap. Dalam penelitian ini hanya sampai pada tahap ke 9 yaitu studi pendahuluan, perencanaan, mengembangkan produk awal, uji coba awal, revisi produk utama, uji coba lapangan, revisi terhadap produk operasional, uji coba lapangan produk operasional, dan revisi produk final. Subjek ujicoba adalah siswa kelas II SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. Subjek uji coba satu-satu terdiri atas 3 orang dari kelas II.B, uji coba kelompok kecil terdiri atas 10 siswa dari kelas II.B  yang belum terlibat dalam uji coba satu-satu dan uji coba lapangan terdiri atas 56 siswa dari kelas II.A dan II.C. Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri dari pedoman wawancara, lembar penilaian produk, penilaian SSP oleh guru, lembar pengamatan karakter siswa, angket karakter disiplin, angket karakter peduli dan lembar penilaian. Hasil penelitian ini berupa SSP yang meliputi: silabus, RPP, LKS dan lembar penilaian. Hasil penilaian SSP berupa silabus, RPP, LKS dan lembar penilaian yang dikembangkan berkategori baik. Hasil uji coba produk dinyatakan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar afektif untuk karakter disiplin adalah 91,11 dan peduli adalah 91,82. Dengan demikian dapat dinyatakan bahwa SSP yang dikembangkan layak dan efektif untuk menanamkan kedisiplinan dan kepedulian siswa sekolah dasar kelas II. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING THEMATIC SUBJECT SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY TO INCULCATE THE DISCIPLINE AND CARE AT THE SECOND GRADE STUDENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLABSTRACT This study aims to produce thematic Specific Pedagogy Subject (SSP) which is suitable, and to assess the validity of thematic SSP to inculcate the characters of Grade II students of the elementary school, especially those of discipline and care. This was a Research and Development (R D) based on Borg Gall model consist of ten stages. In this research were nine stages only, namely: (1) preliminary study and data collection, (2) planning, (3) product draft development, (4) preliminary field tryout, (5) revision of the tryout result, (6) field tryout, (7) product finalization based the field tryout result, (8) field implementation testing, and (9) final product finalization. The tryout subjects were Grade II students of SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. The one-to-one tryout subjects consisted of three students from Grade II B, the small-group tryout subjects consisted of ten students from Grade II B who were not involved in the one-to-one tryout and the field tryout subjects consisted of 56 students from Grade II A and Grade II C. The instruments of collecting data consisted of the guide of interview, scoring paper on product, the assessment of SSP by teachers, observation paper of students’ characters, questionnaire of discipline, questionnaire of care and scoring paper. The result of the study is in the form of SSP consisting of a syllabus, lesson plans, student worksheets, and assessment instruments. The results of the evaluation show that the developed syllabus, lesson plans, student worksheets, developed assessment instruments are good. The results of tryout product it can be concluded the students’ average affective learning outcomes of discipline and care are 91.11 and 91.82 respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed SSP is in the good category and effective to inculcate the discipline and care at the second grade students of elementary school. Abstract

Lingkungan kelas yang bernuansa ke-SD-an saat ini dibutuhkan oleh guru-guru SD, mahasiswa S-1 Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD), mahasiswa S-2 Pendidikan Dasar (Dikdas), dan para pengambil kebijakan di bidang ke-SD-an. Itu semua dalam rangka untuk menyesuaikan antara ilmu yang dipelajari dengan dunia yang ada di lingkungan SD. Lingkungan kelas SD idealnya tersedia berbagai sarana sebagai media pembelajaran di SD. Sarana yang berupa media pembelajaran ke-SD-an itu, ditata secara proporsional melalui sudut-sudut mata pelajaran sebagaimana yang ada di SD dan jika mungkin ditambah sudut lain yang menunjang pelaksanaan pembelajaran di SD. Diharapkan melalui lingkungan tersebut, memungkinkan siswa dan guru dapat melaksanakan pembelajaran tentang  banyak hal. Hal itu karena di lingkungan kelas tersebut menyediakan berbagai sarana penunjang dan pendukung untuk mempelajari semua mata pelajaran yang ada di kelas SD.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________UTILISING THE LEARNING MEDIA TO BUILD THE CLASS ENVIRONMENT(Alternative Approach in Developing Effective Elementary School Laboratory)ABSTRACTTo synchronise the theoretical knowledge taught in college with practical situation existed in elementary schools, all stakeholders of elementary schooling, such as teachers, students, and policy makers, require an environment that closely represents an elementary school-like atmosphere. In this sort of setting, we can find several facilities, as learning media, that are situated proportionally to align with the subjects taught in elementary schools or other perspectives that might be beneficial for supporting the learning process. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media komik berbasis pendidikan karakter, mengetahui kelayakan media komik berbasis karakter, dan mengetahui keefektifan media komik berbasis karakter terhadap pengembangan karakter siswa kelas IV SD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan, yang terdiri dari: (1) penelitian dan pengumpulan data, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan draft produk, (4) validasi ahli, (5) revisi berdasarkan ahli, (6) uji coba terbatas, (7) penyempurnaan produk hasil uji coba terbatas, (8) uji coba lapangan, (9) penyempurnaan produk akhir, dan (10) diseminasi produk. Subjek coba pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN Pangen Gudang Purworejo yang berjumlah 35 siswa dengan rincian: 6 siswa untuk uji coba terbatas dan 29 siswa untuk uji coba lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) telah dihasilkan media komik berbasis pendidikan karakter pada pembelajaran tematik-integratif, (2) media komik yang dikembangkan ditinjau dari variabel kualitas aspek media dan aspek materi menurut ahli, menurut guru, dan hasil respon siswa berkategori sangat baik, (3) pembelajaran dengan media komik yang dikembangkan efektif meningkatkan nilai karakter siswa. Peningkatan karakter disiplin siswa masuk dalam kategori sedang dengan nilai gain score sebesar 0,62 dan peningkatan karakter tanggung jawab siswa masuk dalam kategori sedang dengan nilai gain score sebesar 0,66. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING CHARACTER-BASED EDUCATION COMIC MEDIA ON INTEGRATIF-THEMATIC LEARNING FOR FOURTH GRADE ABSTRACT The objectives of this research are to produce character-based education comic media, determine the feasibility of character-based education comic media, and determine the effectiveness of character-based education  comic media to character development of fourth grade students of SD. This research is a development, which consists of: (1) research and data collection, (2) planning , (3) development of a draft product, (4) validation of experts, (5) revisions based on expert, (6) limited testing, (7) improvement of product test results is limited, (8) the trial court, (9) the improvement of the final product, and (10) product dissemination. The subject of the study is fourth grade students of SDN Pangen Gudang Purworejo. There are 35 students consiting of 6 students for preliminary field testing, and the 29 students for main field testing. The result of the study shows: (1) character-based education  comic media on integrative-thematic learning has been produced, (2) the developed comic media in terms of media aspect and material aspect quality according to experts, teachers, and student’s responses are very good, (3) learning using comic media improves students’ character value effectively. The improvement of students’ discipline character is in medium category with 0.62 gain score and improvement of students’ responsibility character is in medium category with 0.66 gain score. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk media berupa komik pembelajaran matematika yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas V SD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan, yang terdiri dari: (1) penelitian dan pengumpulan data, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan draft produk, (4) uji coba lapangan awal,  (5) revisi hasil uji coba, (6) uji coba lapangan, (7) penyempurnaan produk hasil uji coba lapangan, (8) uji pelaksanaan lapangan, dan (9) penyempurnaan produk akhir. Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas V SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. Subjek uji coba satu-satu terdiri atas tiga orang siswa. Subjek uji coba kelompok kecil terdiri atas sembilan orang siswa yang belum terlibat dalam uji coba satu-satu, dan subjek uji lapangan terdiri atas 54 orang siswa dari kelas VB dan kelas VC yang tidak ikut dalam uji coba satu-satu dan uji coba kelompok kecil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan ini mendapatkan penilaian dari para ahli dengan kategori “baik”, penilaian guru dan siswa yang menggunakan media komik menyatakan praktis, sehingga media pembelajaran ini layak digunakan. Hasil uji lapangan menunjukkan media komik pembelajaran matematika yang digunakan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 0,65 tergolong dalam kategori sedang menurut skala gain, sedangkan prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 0,73 tergolong dalam kategori tinggi menurut skala gain. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING COMIC MEDIA FOR THE TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS TO ENCHANCE THE MOTIVATION AND MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES GRADE V ABSTRACT This research aims to produce a product in the form of mathematics teaching comics which can improve motivation and learning achievement of students of grade V of SD. This research is research and development study consisting of nine stages, namely: (1) research and data collection, (2) planning, (3) developing the draft product, (4) the initial field trial, (5) revising the test results (6) field trials, (7) refinement of the results of field trials of the products, (8) implementation of the field test, and (9) improvement of the final product. The subjects were students of SDN Glagah Yogyakarta. The subjects of the trial consisted of three students. The trial subjects test consisted of nine students did not involve in the one-on-one trial, and the field test subjects consisted of 54 students from classes VB and VC which were not participate one on one trial test and small group trial. The developed media gained result from the experts who considered it good, the assesment of students and teachers showed that the comic media was practice and feasible. Based on the field test the comic media of mathematics learning could improve learning motivation of 0.65 as moderate  category, the learning performances was 0.73 as high category according to gain scale. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan dan mengetahui keefektifan buku pelajaran tematik-integratif dengan tema “Mari Bermain Sambil Berolahraga” berbasis nilai karakter disiplin dan tanggung jawab untuk peserta didik kelas III SD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (RD) dengan model Brog Gall. Uji coba produk melibatkan 67 peserta didik kelas III SD 2 Padokan Bantul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan buku pelajaran yang dikembangkan dari aspek kelayakan isi berkategori “sangat baik”, aspek kebahasaan berkategori “sangat baik”, aspek penyajian berkategori “sangat baik”, dan aspek kegrafikaan berkategori “sangat baik”. Hasil untuk nilai karakter disiplin menunjukkan uji-t= -3,110 dengan P sebesar 0,000 dan nilai karakter tanggung jawab menunjukkan hasil uji-t= -4,440 dengan P sebesar 0,003. Selain itu, nilai hasil belajar menunjukkan 100% peserta didik tuntas dalam pembelajaran. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPMENT THEMATIC-INTEGRATIF TEXTBOOKS BASED ON DISCIPLINE AND RESPONSIBILITY VALUES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLABSTRACT This study aims to: produce and determine the effectiveness of thematic-integrative textbooks with the theme of "Let's Play while Exercising" based on discipline and responsibility values. This study is a Research and Development (R D) with a Brog and Gall model. The tryout involved 67 students of grade III in Padokan Bantul Elementary School 2. This is evidenced by the results of expert evaluation showing the textbooks  developed is terms of the feasibility contents category is "very good", aspects of language category is "very good", aspects of presentation category is "very good", and aspect of grapichlly category is "very good". As for discipline value results of t-test = -3.110 with P values of 0.000 and the value of responsibilities results of t-test = -4.440 with P values 0.003. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan kemampuan membaca intensif siswa kelas VI SDN 8 Padang Laweh dengan pendekatan kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus pada semester I tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa tes, observasi, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan cooperative learning tipe STAD dalam pembelajaran membaca intensif terbukti dapat meningkatkan proses dan hasil pembelajaran membaca intensif siswa. Aktivitas siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dari rata-rata 64,33 pada siklus 1 menjadi 80,67 pada siklus 2 dengan kategori sangat baik. Aktivitas guru dalam proses pembelajaran rata-rata 69,00 dengan kategori baik pada siklus 1 menjadi 83,00 pada siklus 2 dengan kategori sangat baik. Kemampuan membaca intensif siswa mengalami peningkatan, yaitu dari rata-rata 66,33 pada siklus 1 menjadi 80,73 pada siklus 2 dengan kategori sangat baik. Jadi pelaksanaan tindakan menggunakan pendekatan cooperative learning tipe STAD telah mencapai indikator keberhasilan dalam penelitian ini, yakni nilai perolehan rata-rata kemampuan membaca intensif mencapai KKM 70,00 dan ketuntasan belajar klasikal mencapai 80%. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ IMPROVING THE INTENSIVE READING ABILITY BY COOPERATIVE LEARNING OF THE STAD TYPE IN GRADE VI SDN 8 PADANG LAWEH ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to improve the learning process and the intensive reading ability of students of grade VI SDN 8 Padang Laweh through cooperative learning approach of the STAD type. This research used the classroom action research design. This research was done in two cycles in semester 1 of the academic year 2013/2014. The data collection techniques used were test, observation, documentation, and field note. The result shows that the cooperative learning of the STAD type in learning process of intensive reading affects the improvement of the result and process of the intensive reading learning of the students. There is an improvement in students’ activity in the learning process with an average score of 64.33 in the first cycle to become 80.67 in the second cycle or in a very good category. The teacher’s activity in the learning process has an average score of 69.00 or good category in the first cycle and becomes 83.00 in the second cycle, or in a very good category. The intensive reading ability of the students had an average score of 66.33 in the first cycle and became 80.73 in the second cycle or in a very good category. So, the action from cooperative learning approach of STAD type has reached the success indicator in this research, that is the average score of intensive reading ability of 70.00 and the classical mastery of 80%.
