Abstract

This research aims to examine the noble values contained in tut wuri handayani and its implementation in education, which holds meaning as an educator or pamong who plays a role in developing students' abilities through the influence of education by providing freedom in learning to find the meaning of life. The research approach used in this study was phenomenology. The research method employed was hermeneutic phenomenology, which focuses on life experiences and interpreting the "text" of life. Data collection techniques include library research and interviews. The data sources consisted of writings by Ki Hadjar Dewantara on the noble values of tut wuri handayani, interviews with Tamansiswa figures, and interviews with the school principal and pamong of Taman Muda Jetis Elementary School. Data analysis was conducted using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The research findings indicate that the values contained in tut wuri handayani can be applied in educational institutions to shape students who are independent in their thinking, inner selves, and abilities by avoiding behaviors contrary to the rules and norms.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the process and the result of developing literacy skills in writing stories for Elementary School by Using Big Book. This study uses research and development research methods. The steps taken from the ADDIE development model were used in this research's research model for the development of teaching and learning media, which included five stages, namely (analysis), (design), (development), (implementation), and (evaluation). The subjects of the preliminary field test were grades 4, 5, and 6 using the random sampling method. The research data was obtained through the interview technique which was conducted after the observation process of classroom learning within a period of 3 months of classroom learning. The data was collected by observation, interviews, product validation, and questionnaires. The results of this study resulted in a Big Book-based thematic textbook product with the TPACK model that has been tested and validated by experts. The average results starting from the assessment of the feasibility of big book textbooks by material testing, feasibility of textbooks by media experts, feasibility of big book textbooks by classroom teachers, feasibility of big book textbooks by small group testing, and feasibility of big book textbooks by testing field obtained an average of 4.35. It means that the big book is very suitable to be used as a teaching medium in literacy learning for students of Wildan Mukholladun.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is a skill that is important to be taught to students because this skill is useful in their learning environment management to achieve the best learning outcomes. Thus, teaching this ability as early as possible is better, such as in elementary school. One alternative way to introduce and teach this skill is through games. This study aims to capture the relevant previous research landscape regarding the use of games in elementary school learning and for self-regulated learning from 2020 to 2023 using bibliometric analysis with the help of the VOSviewer application. The Scopus database was used to search for data with the keywords "games", "self-regulated learning", "elementary education," and "primary education," which were then refined to become 196 journal article publications. From the results of this analysis, it was found that the trend of publications about the use of games in learning had appeared in 2020, but about self-regulated learning, game-based learning, and elementary/primary education had only appeared in 2021. The research focus can be divided into four major topics, namely: (1) the use of game and game-based learning in primary education, (2) child development, and (3) the use of technology used in primary school education. Surprisingly, there hasn’t been research on self-regulated learning in elementary education. Thus, further research and development on the topic can be done.

Abstract

The Understanding by Design (UBD) framework is the preferred instructional model in self-directed learning. The issue addressed in this study pertains to the multitude of disasters occurring in Indonesia, thereby emphasizing the significance of acquiring comprehensive perspectives on disasters and their corresponding management strategies. It remains imperative for students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of disasters and their corresponding management strategies. The research aims to increase students' disaster literacy using the UBD learning model with pop-up book media. The research employed a quantitative methodology. The study population was students from SD N Percobaan in Padang, West Sumatra. A total of 42 students were selected as participants and were divided into two groups: a control class and an experimental class. The outcomes obtained from implementing the UBD model encompass the findings derived from rigorous statistical analysis. The test results indicate a statistically significant impact of the UBD learning model on enhancing students' disaster literacy when combined with pop-up book media. The educator's contribution has yielded practical insights, diverse perspectives, and innovative ideas that enhance the efficacy of utilizing pop-up book media to augment students' disaster literacy. The findings of this study hold significant implications for Indonesia, given its status as a nation characterized by a substantial degree of vulnerability to disasters. The intended outcome is for students to develop improved readiness to respond to disasters and better understand the necessary actions to take during emergencies.
