Abstract

It is obvious to harness the intermittent renewable energy resources, energy storage applications, such as a lithium-ion battery, are very important. α‒type MnO2 is considered as an attractive cathode material for lithium-ion battery due to its relatively large (2 × 2) tunnel structure, remarkable discharge capacity, low cost, and environmental benignity. However, low intrinsic electronic conductivity of α‒type MnO2 limits its full utilization as a cathode for a lithium-ion battery. Therefore, studies to enhance the α‒type MnO2 properties are undoubted of great interest. While previous computational studies have been focused on pristine α‒type MnO2, in the present report, we present the theoretical research on potassium-intercalated α‒type MnO2 using first principle Density Functional Theory calculations for the first time. Our results showed that potassium-intercalated α‒type MnO2 improved the electronic conductivity which beneficial for energy storage application. The structural transformation of potassium-intercalated α‒type MnO2 upon lithium insertion are also discussed. Our results may open the avenue for further utilization of potassium-intercalated α‒type MnO2 materials for not only the lithium-ion battery but also other type energy storage systems.

Abstract

Catalytic converter (CATCO) and its effect on engine performance and exhaust gas temperature became an exciting field in automotive research. In this study purposed to compare existing CATCO which is ceramic and metallic with FeCrAl CATCO that treated with a combination of ultrasonic bath and electroplating technique in 30 minutes holding time (UB+EL 30 min). This study proposed to select an appropriate CATCO that used in a gasoline engine to increase the performance and to reduce the exhaust gas temperature as well as its potential to reduce the exhaust gas emission. Mitsubishi 4G93 conducted this analysis with 1.8 L and 10.5 compression ratio with a variable speed of 100, 2000 and 3000 rpm and different engine load of 10, 20 and 30%. The result shows that the FeCrAl CATCO was more useful to reduce fuel consumption up to 66.42% and increase torque up to 15.79% as well as reduce exhaust gas temperature up to 30.11% as compared to ceramic and metallic CATCO. It can be concluded that FeCrAl CATCO coated by UB+EL 30 min was recommended to increase engine performance and to reduce exhaust gas emission.

Abstract

Delivery performance is essential for a manufacturer to meet customer requirement. The only manufacturer with fast, accurate and on time delivery could survive in global competition as a sports shoe manufacturer with the labor-intensive production process, PT. XYZ faced a problem with massive work in process inventory that impacted low delivery performance. This research aims to support the shoe manufacturer company to reduce work in process inventory by applying Kanban System. The manufacturer company can decrease work in process in the production line and cut the lead time of production. Kanban System can be utilized from receiving material process, production process, until the packaging process. By implementing a kanban system correctly and consistently, the company can control material supply, production material usage, and customer order delivery inaccurate process. With controlled those items, the company could monitor and manage material and process from beginning to end of the process, even to monitor distribution to a customer. The result of analysis proves that by applying kanban system can achieve the specified daily production target without work in process inventory.

Abstract

Anyer Beach is one of the famous tourist destinations. In addition to tourist destinations, the Anyer beach also has residential and industrial areas. In managing coastal areas, a study of vulnerability is needed due to threats from sea level rise, abrasion/erosion and also high waves that can damage infrastructure and cause losses. The research method is to collect data of hydro-oceanography, coastal vulnerability index calculates (Coastal Vulnerability Index). The coastal vulnerability index is a relative ranking method based on the index scale physical parameters such as geomorphology, shoreline change, elevation, sea level rise, mean tidal, wave height. On the results of the analysis of the criteria of vulnerability based on the parameters of geomorphology in the category of vulnerable with scores of 4, shoreline change in the category of vulnerable with a score of 4, the elevation in the category of extremely vulnerable with scores of 5, sea level rise into the medium category with a score of 3, mean tidal in the category less susceptible with a score of 2, the wave height is very vulnerable in the category with a score of 5. The variable that most influences the vulnerability of Anyer Beach is elevation and wave height.

Abstract

The number of popular people is still growing because of the easiness to access information technology. Every time people upload things and let people watch it and give it a like or comment. People who can impress other people will grow their popularity and fame. Some famous people make influences, help poor people with powers, and others are causing troubles. Community these days drives people perspective by share their thoughts on social media. They spread information and makes others want to see things they are talked about. Troublesome popular people defended by their fan base and attacked by other communities. By these cases, the research tried to gather information on social media and used it for calculation and profiling. The method that proposed to rely on this information is based on sentiment analysis to look up someone’s record and listing them into top 10 best got from DBpedia. This system shows the list of people and contains all important record about that person which can be used for decision support for a policy or rewarding people. The results have successfully visualized the output in the list of people with any further details following by clicking their names.

Abstract

QoS (Quality of Service) of LTE networks can bring the providers to provide broadband services with high performance to end user.  Furthermore, the expected data rate transfer is up to 300 Mbit/s per user while the range of bandwidth varies from 1.4 MHz to 20 MHz.  The network worked in 1800 MHz bands, 64 QAM modulation technique and used 10 MHz and 15 MHz channel bandwidth.  There is a congestion problem for LTE network with 10 MHz channel bandwidth due to high utilization.  The paper tries to analyze the QoS parameters, named Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for LTE Networks to solve the problem using bandwidth expansion. The KPIs parameter that is measured by drive test is accessibility, retainability, PRB downlink utilization, and user number.  Based on the KPIs measurements results, it is showed that the proposed method to expand the bandwidth from 10 MHz to 15 MHz can avoid congestion problem and impact on improving the performance of LTE network.

Abstract

Currently, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) only monitors the condition of a tire pressure. However, there are no particular reactions taking place after the value of its tire pressure is discovered. In fact, the value of a tire pressure determines driving comfort and safety Therefore, this research proposed a method to integrate a TPMS and a Pressure Sensor Base (PSB) with a particular reaction required to fulfill tires automatically. The proposed TPMS has an electronic device unit directly attached to a tire’s valve. This unit includes pressure sensors, microcontrollers, Bluetooth transmitters and batteries. An alert system is generated whenever tire pressure exceeds the maximum or minimum safe pressure level. Moreover, if the pressure measured is below the lowest level of the desired pressure, it will automatically activate the compressor. Several experiments have been carried out to analyze the proposed system. The integrated TPMS has proven to be able to be an alternative tool for the automotive sector to keep maintaining the tires and to improve a driving comfort and safety.

Abstract

Castellated steel beam is a beam with a regular section cut into half with a particular pattern and regrouped with welding to increase its height compared to the original. This structure element has been developed in building constructions since many years ago. However, its uniform section along the span will make the modification no longer effective in cantilever structure, unless it has additional adaptation. Therefore, in this study, it is proposed to use a castellated steel beam with a tapered shape to be applied as cantilever structures. A steel beam with IWF section 150x75x5x7 is the primary sample type in this research. Some variations were made such as openings angle for 450 and 500, openings space for 50 mm, 70 mm, and 90 mm, openings diameter for 50 mm, 75 mm, and 100 mm, and span length for 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, and 3.5 m. Two open-source software namely FreeCAD and LisaFEA were used to draw solid 3-dimensional samples and to conduct the numerical analysis to determine stress and deformation respectively. From the result, it is known that the smallest stresses and deformations can be achieved by a different angle of openings, openings space, and diameter for each span length.

Abstract

This paper presents a transparent energy harvesting antenna for a vehicle windshield application. The antenna is designed using AgHT-4 with a thickness of 0.175 mm and the glass substrate (Ɛr= 4.82) with a thickness of 2 mm. The antenna has dimensions of 46.238 x 35.4 mm. The antenna is designed and simulated in CST simulation software. It shows that the return loss of -32.76 dB obtained at 2.2412 GHz with broad directional pattern and a gain of 5 dBi. The rectifier circuit of RF energy harvesting will charge the energy storage by utilizing the ambient RF signals from the environment, convert it to the DC signal, and using the DC signal to charge the energy storage. This antenna is intended to be mounted on a car windshield to provide Wi-Fi signals to passengers

Abstract

A high low energy in buildings is determined in the potential use of materials. Tile material is potentially made by architects as a sustainable building material. The use of tiles was marginalized by ceramic flooring products produced by large industries. The result of studies on the issue of global warming note that the embodied CO2 from the tile floor is almost seven times more than the embodies CO2 tiles. This result shows that tile products are environmentally sound and sustainable compared to tile floors. In another side, Kendari City is a Coastal City, and there are Kampung KB (Family Planning) that much mothers in this village busy every day with searching metti-metti/kalandue (Anadara grandis). During this time, shell kalandue fisherman catches only utilized meat/adductor muscle, while the shell is removed and uses as waste. In order for the tile to be competitive and interesting to be used as the floor of the house, it is necessary to study to create a tandem-based kalandue. This research is intended to create a tandem-based kalandue that used exploration method. The process of analysis is done qualitatively, so it gets the form of a tile. The shape of the tiles is transformed from the parameters to the resulting tandem-based kalandue shell. This study concluded that kalandue sea shells as eco-friendly floor finish material made, as follows: the working tools used were simple and sufficient. The working materials used are quite available and economical. The making process is done quickly and easily.
