Abstract

This aim of the study was to experimentally analyze the natural frequency (wn) of fiberglass reinforced polymer composite beam. The study used the spectrum method for experimental analysis. The spectrum method for experimental analysis was done by various position of 5 exciters. The supports used were a fixed-free (cantilever) with the material of fiberglass reinforced polymer composite in the form of beam with length 50 cm, width 3 cm, and thickness 2 cm. Composite material consisted of two compositions that was 5 % of fiberglass and 20 % of fiberglass. The devices used in the study was testing machine, IRD mechanalysis comprising vibration sensor, speed regulation unit, tachometer, and vibrator engine. The measurement was done on deflection, frequency response function, and spectrum. The results of the study obtained : For experimental analysis, at percentage of fiberglass   5 %, value wnmax = 13125 rpm, wnmin = 12600 rpm, whereas the percentage of fiberglass 20 %, value wnmax = 13230 rpm, wnmin = 12990 rpm.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the parameters affecting the approach of analyzing both drum and disc brakes on Mitsubishi L300 vehicle of pick-up type. Supporting data was procured by measuring intensively the car brakes component in the Automotive engineering laboratory of Tadulako University and in the Duty Communication of District in Palu. Result of calculation indicates that rotation drum brake both CW and CCW affects the braking force (F). They are 643 and 2.828 kg, respectively. Associating with disc brakes, the tread of pedal brake influences oil pressure on brakes leading to force brakes on the axle. Permitting pedal force is about 19 kg. To pursue brakes analysis on the vehicle, simulation should be taken.

Abstract

This study aims to find out/design and electronic wheelchair that can go up and down a slope, as an aid facility for people with disabilities and elderly people. The wheelchair uses a relay motor control program applied in a microcontroller controlling a DC Motor. This study is intended to inprove the writer’s skills in designing electric wheelchairs that can go up and down a slope. In terms of academic purpose, it is expected that this research can provide additional knowledge for students, especially the students of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University about wheelchair design that can be beneficial in increasing production through automation in the field of science and technology. The electric wheelchair is equipped with a microcontroller that can receive instructions from a mover stick. It also has a visual equipment that can facilitate the wheelchair user. The instruction from the mover stick will be directly sent because it is connected to the microcontroller by using a serial cable. The results reveal that the manual wheelchair stick / drive shaft driven directly by the user sends instructions to the microcontroller in accordance with the desired wheelchair movement.The signal will be forwarded to the driver that will drive the motor. In this system, the mover stick functions as a user interface connected to the control system. The control system consists of several electronic chains that function to control the electric wheelchair equipped with components of interface input/output and a driver as the actuator.

Abstract

During fluid flow through the system piping installation happened many so-called pressure loss as the major pressure loss and minor pressure loss (loss due to fluid passing through a branching). Distribution of the fluid flow in branching is an irreversible process. This irreversibelitas in the application techniques will reduce the performance of a system. Attemps to find out how big the losses incurred by branching pipe is to measure the coefficient of losses incurred. The form of experiments performed was to make three pieces of pipe brnching angles galvanic type medium with 450, 600 and 900. Re variation of 0 to 5,5 x 104. The results showed that the coefficient Of loss for k3-2 branch (45)= k3-2 (60)= K3-2 (90)= (0,07 to 0,39) and k3-1 branch (45)= (0,95- 0,60), K3-1 (60)= (1,08 to 0,85), K3-1 (90)= (1,10- 1,50), for a total coefficint Ktot (45)= (1,02 to 0,97), Ktot (60)= (1,15 to 1,23), Ktot (90)= (1,17 to 1,89).

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain the influence of the average steam quality of heat transfer coefficient on average that occurs in the capillary tube and the relationship between average steam qualities with heat transfer coefficient on average in the capillary tube. This research was conducted at the University Engineering Laboratory Cooling Tadulako. Test methods used in the study is testing them experimentally. Data were collected by taking a direct test data on test equipment. Data were analyzed theoretically based on the experimental test data. The results of this study, namely that the refrigerant mass flow rate affect the heat transfer coefficient on average that occurs in the capillary tube is in the form of equation is hcm = 59569.78 xm^1.52
